  • where can you get the versus guide from?

  • @991woot119 Try eBay or Amazon, and expect to pay up to 100 bucks for it. It's somewhat of a rarity these days.

  • @GarlandTheGreat is there anywhere I can find it on the internet?

  • Only argument is the bit about "After a game is 12 years old"... Sonic the Hedgehog is still having discoveries as late as early this year (2011), which puts it at twenty years old and still bearing new discoveries...

Sometimes all it takes is a new perception~

  • this isnt possible on english version is it?

  • It's actually a "Guard Hound".

  • I think its cool you know so much about game sharks and things like that, but is it not enough that there are already glitches too be taken advantage of in the original game? i figured out how too dupe sources using only one item, and dupe using not 2,

but 1 item too.(including hero drinks)its all on my videos on my channel,i even figured out how too get perfect karma score on stage 1 of ninja gaiden 2,and no one else knows how!!! ill be posting it soon,i shouldve posted it 2 years ago but didnt..

  • What do the monsters say when you fight them?

  • Is this in the American version?

  • There's also a little red man behind the background of that sewer place.

  • I wet my pants.

  • so what about the treasure chest?

  • If the chances of getting it are 1/8 then you are pretty much guaranteed to get it after about 35 tries.

  • Hey, anybody knows what is the true purpose of Test 0? Is it to Test something? But what?

  • @Bazerald777 I think it says in gamefaq second ff vii guide that it's to drop a 'loveless' ticket so you can have access to that show. just go to gamefaq.com and check up the second guide if youre that interested.

  • @DarkSakuraVII Oh.. A loveless show? The one in Midgar? But how do we get to that sector again? And is that show really watchable?

  • @Bazerald777 Test 0 isnt technically in the official game, so you cant :P sorry.

  • How strange....

  • Oh wow, I used to have the guide that talked about this battle, It's interesting to be able to finally see it.

  • noob hax

  • モンスター「いたいでするー」

    Monster: It huuurts~

    モンスター「ごめんってば、もうやめてぇ」

Monster: I said I was sorry, cut it out already!

    モンスター「うラ〜、いたいやんけえ、わレ〜」

    Monster: Ooo~, you're hurting me~

  • That article was the one that gave!!

  • This is extremely interesting. Thanks for posting it. What I would like to know, however, is how your Cloud has his Ultima Weapon in Corel Prison? I thought you got that from defeating the Ultimate WEAPON.

  • @AlluringConspiracy Re: Ultima Wep in Corel Prison:

Garland the Great's comments, above, read, "You don't need a Gameshark to access it", rather than, "I did not access this with a Gameshark".

So, if he is doing something impossible, it follows that he did Gameshark it. We lose verification of the fact that a Gameshark is not needed (I will just take his word for it), and gain cooler graphics

  • Haha, that's great. I just did this battle in a normal playthrough of this version of the game; only way to make the fight reasonably short was to learn the Enemy Skill 'Laser' before this battle, then spam it. Those 40000 gil will come in handy. =)

  • only in the japanese version though =(

  • Please have you made/would you recreate another glitch from the Versus guide: the ridable chocobo getting entangled with the rocket from Rocket Town? For those of us without access to the Japanese game version (and those without the Versus guide, for that matter). It is in the section about Tifa as leader, if I remember correctly

  • @VvAnarchangelvV I don't know how to activate that glitch, but it's possible to recreate it with gameshark codes, as I've done in part 2 of my "object control" series.

  • @VvAnarchangelvV I used to have the Versus guide myself (until I lost it :/ ) but I remember that article also, I wonder if there's anyway to replicate it in the US/PAL release?

  • @caitshiznit Wonder if it was stolen, not lost. Treasures often are.

I cannot answer your question, as it is not specifically stated in the Versus guide that the glitch is in, or not in, the US/PAL release, & I was not able to replicate it with that version. The fact that the disclaimers about Test Zero & other Japanese-only features were added, in boxes, to the main text tells me most of the guide was written about the Japanese version, so it makes sense that some differences would be missing.

  • the fuck was that all about?

  • I have a near mint copy of The Completely Unauthorized Final Fantasy VII Ultimate Guide and its BADASS. Greatest Guide ever made in my opinion. Although it does have some inconsistencies. I remember buying FF7 the day it came out in the US. Man I was dumb for selling it. Greatest video game ever made. Fuck that HALO garbage. Pretty musch all games nowadays are a ripoff of FF,Wolfnstein3d,and GTA

  • @hiphopguru81

    hows gta a ripoff?

  • @purple7filth Read my comment i said all games are a ripoff OF

  • My fav FF song

  • if you have 7777hp why you're not in 7 fever?

  • He/she didn't have 7777HP till the end of the battle in which case he did have 7 Fever or whatever it's called.

    Current HP / Max HP

    7403 / 7777

  • ahahah the monsters saying "it hurts, I said sorry so stop iiit~"

That is so wonderful. I love test monsters.<3

  • i don't know why there is a open box there

  • well the english and japanese versions are a litle mixed up there are 2 japanes versions and 1 american version the first jap is version 1 second verion is american 2nd jap is the american version translated understand?

  • with the music the video is a bit creepy

  • Good to know this battle actually exists

  • can test 0 be activated in the american version? also, i thought it involved a little red man...

    i have a gs btw...

  • Test 0 was removed from all internationa versions of FF7. luckily, i have a japanese copy :D

  • lol i think this is also some kind of special, like the Debug room... the programmer don't want to remove this to give some type of secrets to discover xD

The textbox says "It's hurt!" "i'm sorry" "please, stop it!" xD

  • So, once the code was working right, the red man would never appear in normal gameplay. No reason to remove it. The thing about that is, once you start to compile beta and final versions of the game, it can get VERY hard to remove or change things. Hexidecimal code, which console games are written with, does not like it. As for Test 0, they probably had a template for random encounter lists they added to every screen in the game, and forgot that one (test) was already there.

  • My belief about the red man was that the well was an early test area during the game's beta. The devs would enter the area, and could open an empty chest (to play with the inventory code) and fight a test battle with Test 0. Then, the red man exists as a background object, where if the code for background layers are working right, you dont see him. I used to do a little bit of simple game programming myself, and I would use a similar method to test my graphical displays.

  • is test 0 so strong oO am serious why it isnt geting in eu and us version

  • XD cait sith got an istant KO

  • They took this enemy out of the North American version. I would have been so confused if I encountered that!

  • don't the tests 0 just beg for you too stop?

  • They are begging.

  • So one of the enemies towards the back isn't supposed to be there?

  • Lol ty i neva seen this b4 ty! i usually go on ff10 more than 7 so tyvm!

  • Wow, thanks dude, I never expected you to actually do it!

  • Ah, can you give me the gameshark code for enemies in the japanese version? I never found any...

    Thanks in advance!

  • Just posted in the topic on Neoseeker now, and I included the code there ;)

  • wow, how the heck you find all those codes man?

  • Garland, you deserve your nickname! You're really GREAT!

Well, I've found this battle 3 days before you, but I'm unable to record the video. Check the neoseeker ffvii forum, you'll see the "misterious test 0?" thread.

I'm your fan, anyways. *reading speed run faq*

  • Thanks for this. There had been plenty of talk about it, but it's good to see it in the flesh.

  • Bad ass, man. I've always wanted to see this.

  • Always wanted to see this. Good stuff.

(How about that materia-like enemy that, according to the late Kao Megura, is supposed to be on the Mako Cannon somewhere?)

  • I never heard about that before, but I found it in his FAQ now. I'm planning to go through all the battles in the Japanese version (that's 1000 to be exact), so if it exists, I will find it.

  • The Item you got there was Test 0?

  • No. It was a Potion.

  • So the battle was Test 0. Cool anyway

  • I always thought they were real too. I wanted to see this battle for so long... Thanks for showing us. Now I need to see a video showing that freakin' "Red Man".

  • Red Man's layer never shows in-game :3

  • Even with 30,000 HP, those hounds still can't win. XD Wussy dogs.

  • How did you get that strategy guide, and how do I get it now?

  • I figured they where real. This just proves it. Also the Cait Sith bug might be due to a merger with Young Cloud. The only code I found that gives you Young Cloud sucessfully is the USO code and that's just before you get Cait Sith at the Gold Saucer. Though I did mess with and XP code with Young Cloud and found he has a much better stat gain then regular Cloud to the point it's laughable.

  • He levels up at an absurd rate, too, according to Terrence's info. Total exp to lv99 is lower than that of any other character. So, he gains massive stat boosts, *and* levels up quickly.

It makes sense though, as the only thing the writers would need is a dummy algorithm that wouldn't throw up broken values if the Exp skip failed in those scenes.

  • Yeah, I do remembering him leveling faster now that you mention it. Forgot all about that. Can I get a link to this Terrence's info?

  • Just look up the "--- mechanics guide" series on GameFAQs. Terrence / TFergusson is the author, and this includes all the necessary data.

  • Epic fail on my end. :P Probaly just didn't reconize the name. But then I don't use those other then to C&P on the forum.

  • is that working on ff7 international?

  • This only occurs on the very original Japanese version, not the International version.

  • I always wondered why the empty chest was there...

This makes more sense now. Nice find.

  • Garland I have a question about your speed run if you don't mind -

Did the man whose record you are trying to break, go through the same extremes as you - that is to say, trying to save every millisecond? Or are you trying to make it perfect, destroying the record all together?

I'm glad you came back at it after the 8 month hiatus or whatever it was.

  • I always thought that place was strange...

  • Cait Sith and Vincent both do this because all their base stats (also battle model ID, I suppose) are set during the game, rather than at the start (as it is with the other characters). This is because Young Cloud and Sephiroth use their same Character IDs. :3

  • Interesting. They're tagged as Test 0 (Guard Hound).

    テスト0(ガードハウンド)

The Japanese version I have is the International version, which came out later, so I assume I can't find them on there. I've heard about them for years, but I could never encounter them.

  • The International Version is the North American version translated back into Japanese. The Test 0 Battle was removed from the North American version, so therefore the battle doesn't exist in the International version.

  • Cool

  • This is my favourate ever FF song

  • Is it? It's one of my least favorite.

  • why is clouds name still EX-Soldier? i can't read the first kanji but im guessing its EX because the katakana part says soldier (sorujya)

  • At the very start of the game, Cloud has no name and is referred as Ex-Soldier. I guess Garland just skipped the name-change part.

  • Yeah, I guess you're right

  • I jumped straight into Corel Prison from the Debug Room. That's probably why. I can't read any Japanese myself, so I didn't notice.

  • Finally, thanks for this.

  • There are 2 rumors I'm concerned about.

    1. Mastering 8 KotR Materia's and putting them in the Ultima weapon turns it into Excalibur. (Sounds too farfetched to be true.)

    2. What the hell does Isogin Smog do and what's it trigger? (Acrophies enemy can't spell the name. I've seen the attack a few times and it did pretty decent damage for a LVL 90 party but I could never figure out if it does a status effect or what triggers the move.)

  • 1. is definetly not true.

As for 2. because of a bug Acrophie will only use Isogin Smog when all targetable opponents

have the darkness status, but the damage it does is very low. Fun fact:Isogin Smog inflicts Darkness.

  • 2.Oy you gotta be kidding me.

  • Nope.

  • Ha, Garland can find any enemy!^^

  • And then kill it XD
