Lovely guitar, probably the most beautiful electric ever made. I would prefer not to have the scratch plate and have it come separate with the option being mine to attach. Once removed, it leaves ugly screw wholes. Gibson's have nitro finish so they will mark/fade even if left by themselves. The scratch plate hides what is otherwise a lovely flame maple in most cases. I'd also swap the knobs from black to gold...still shockingly expensive.

I tested out a Gibson Les Paul with EMG pickups on them last week and I can tell you that Gibson's resonance and sustain was amazing even if I was not even plugged into any amp yet. You can hear the tone just from the vibration of the strings. They are so clear. Im buying a Gibson Les Paul soon within the next three months. And an Egnater Renegade amp 65 watts for versatile tone.

Oh yes, i have a 1983 Gibson LP Custom (black) with PAF's & a real bone nut and NOTHING touches it.

I have never had to make any adjustments on the guitar since 1983. Built like a TANK.(very heavy)

I've bought other Les Pauls since 1983 in a quest for the "ultimate" ..not realising i have it already.

I am interested in learning to play the guitar and I really like the Epiphone Les paul 100 guitar to start with at about £179. Would this be good for a few years? What is the difference with this guitar and other Les Pauls costing much much more in the several hundreds or thousands? Like the guitar in the video costs £2,800 - whats the difference out of curiosity? The string quality? The build quality? Overall better in every way?

@XmaggotXheadX The thing that seperates the cheaper models from the expensive is the quality of wood used, the pick ups, and the overall craftmanship.

If you buy a cheap guitar there's a likelihood it won't be as comfortable as one slightly more expensive one. An Epiphone Les Paul Standard or a Studio is a good place to start if you want a quality instrument that will last years.

@XmaggotXheadX If you're going to get an epiphone I would recommend a casino, all of their solid bodies are garbage if you want a good entry level solid body go for a fender they are way better quality than gibsons, there virtually is no difference between epiphone and gibson les pauls anymore, for the past 5 years or so Gibson has been making over priced pieces of garbage, the only newer Gibson I've played that isn't absolute shit is the SG standard, Fender or PRS is definitely the way to go

Can a guitarist ask for anything more? Love, these babies. Just wished they didn't come with a scratch plate...with a nitro finish, it'll mark witch ever way you look at it and removing it leaves the awful screw holes...still, the Custom is the loveliest guitar ever manufactured.

For having played this lady repeatedly, this is one of most mind-blowing Les Pauls!

The sustain is very long, the maple top helps a lot!

It is also very multi-styled, can go from blues to metal.

@CYBERTWIN68 Its straight into the Blackstar Series One 200 watt head and Blackstar 4x12. Then just a dash of reverb and a hint of delay. Basically the guitar virtually sings and was the best guitar we filmed out of the dozen or so all night. Just goes to show, get the right tool for the job and all that..........
