Some advice is to use the masking gunk to protect the areas of the joints. Keep paint off those bits 'cos the thing may not go together properly with a layer of dried paint messing up the fitting. You get my drift?
@2Old4Toys cool. the drift has been gotten i wonder if the thinner will eat through the liquid masking... that would be a good experiment. and also see how it works against tape... any other advice?
Daaaarn, you have more shit for your customs than I do. For details I paint everything with a black sharpie... let it dry, then pull out the excess with an alcohol q-tip. Not so much finesse but it gives a similar result xD For the shiny shit, I use 3 coats or so of clear plastic. Really seals up the deal... Though mine gives me problem with silver and white.
Does adding so many layers of paint not make the overall shape larger than previously? I would imagine that might make it a little harder to put back together and then transform. How do you work around that?
@ShiyojinRommyu that is a good questions and we will see once i have painted it all and put it back together. its not like i am a pro or anything. its an experiment to see what works and what doesnt. as you see i have already fucked up.
I once spent like 10 minutes asking for those plastic syringes at a store. A communication clusterfuck...It turns out they are called "Supoito" in Japanese.
I usually mix mine 1/2 paint 1/2 thinner before drinking it. It tends to give the taste the best of both worlds. Sometime you may want to add some paint chips to the mix to make it edgier. All in all it's a very fine drink. The hole in my esophagus thanks me for it everyday. Cheers!
shiny sh@t? you meen polishing powder?.
i got the same shiny sh@t. nice stuff isn`t it??.
i did the same repaint with my reveal the shield prowl and starscream,
to make prowl/bluesteak/smokescreen.
and starscream/thundercracker/skywarp.
for shading did you try armypainter quikeshade.
there are 3 grades:soft tone,strong tone,dark tone.
becarefull do not get it in any moving parts it can work as a glue,
it also gives your model a protectiv coating.
btw nice vid.

What if you used a gloss or matt finish after painting and then do the black wash? Then another layer of the finish.

@Prime92 i think that would work. and just mask around the parts you dont want painted.
