then why was it blue? i installed mine and it was gray. i have original, service park 1 and sp2 version three disks. but non of them have that color...
@hanrinch Idk dude. You might have been installing an older version. MS released one in 2001 and the other in 2003. The one I'm using came out in 2005.
sorry...but mine is sp2c version and having the gray background installation as well as the older version of xp x64. hell! the original xp x64 came out around early 2005 which i had the original version. the gray background also appear on server 2003 x64 which released in 2003~2004. non of any x64 so far had the blue background because i had all collection of them. only server 2003 x86 and xp pro has that installation color. home edition is green.
When can argue what is better, XP 32 bit or Vista 32 bit, but when it comes to 64 bit there is only one clear winner; Vista X64.
Also every new driver for Vista 32 bit will also have a 64 bit Vista version, companies are forced o do that or Microsoft will refuse to certify their drivers.
It's because "x64" is short for "x86_64". x86 basically is a synonym for the mainstream AMD (or Intel) processor architecture. The x86_64 line is basically the same thing but it's 64-bit.
It is right, I've checked Wikipedia. Windows XP Professional x64 Edition it's called. And don't complain if Wikipedia is unreliable, the sources point to Microsoft's website.
You don't need to have over 4 GB of memory to install a 64-bit operating system. Besides, there is only about 3 GB of memory available to the system in a 32-bit OS, and the rest is reserved.
i want to install 64bit xp on 32 bit xp professional, haw can i do it??? It is just something like upgrade or it vill reinstall all operating system???? I vill have to do something in BIOS???? I realy dont know anything about this!!!
No i have intel core duo 2,66 ghz and it has 64 bit, but on my pc os is xp32 bit, video card i have 9400gt 1gb, and i suppose it is 64 bit too. I am using my computer only ~1 month, so it is just new.
lol true but the only reason that is is because xp 64 bit is discontinued so it doesnt get security or itune updates the only thing its good for is non online gaming
That is so true. Rating vista 1 being the worst and 5 being the best os ever made. I would rate vista a 2, maybe a 3 with few minor improvements. I wish microsoft and other companies would support xp x64 with all drivers and make norton 360 work on windows xp 64-bit OS.
it already cam out long time ago....plus after service pack 2 most of 32bit driver can be install in xp x64.(but not graphic driver and mainboard driver, audios..)
Yup. VMWare Fusion and Parallels Desktop allow you to run it in a window whilst running OS X, and Bootcamp, which comes with the Mac, allows you to boot up with XP. Works with Vista, too.
one quick question, i`m currently running xp pro sp2, i`m planning to install xp x64 or vista x64 or whichever will allow me to run my x32bit software/x32bit drivers. or should i stick with my xp pro x32?
Well, I would say if you have it, stick with XP, do NOT get Vista. Trust me, I use it, it IS as horrible as you hear. Since Mac OS X is, for now, a x32 OS, I would say stick with XP Pro x32.
If I could, I would stay behind the times and stick with Windows 98. I could even get some of the most recent games working with 98. Sadly, my parents insited on upgrading to Windows XP in 2005. Oh well, at least it was not vista.

64 bit allows you to have more ram and ultilizes it better. plus you can multitask better

oh 32 bit isnt x32. its x86 for some strange reason

It's because "x64" is short for "x86_64". x86 basically is a synonym for the mainstream AMD (or Intel) processor architecture. The x86_64 line is basically the same thing but it's 64-bit.
Nikifuj908 2 years ago
@DavidPlim its x86 because 32 bit procesors go by 386, 486, and so on. the original pentium is a 586.
agntroboy1995 7 months ago
@DavidPlim X86 is the 32-Bit architecture. 64-bit Architecture is AMD64, or X86-64. Not X64.

in 32 bit version you're computer will only use 3gb of ram.
64bit its like 16gb since that's the most ram i've seen so far.
RamenJutsu 3 years ago
Yea, and it can go even higher. If you got vista hone basic, your limited to 8Gb, home premium, 16GB, and Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate, 128GB+
techman224 3 years ago
ya 128 gb so they say the should just say unlimited because there is NO computer out there that has that kind of ability to hold 128 gb+
