  • "Happiness in intelligent people is the rarest thing I know." (E. Hemingway)

    -

Everybody knows americans are the happiest nation. You always see the glass half full, the positive side of everything. You have a pile of shit in your backyard, and you talk about how it keeps the flies busy, away from your bedroom.

    Your movies are 100% happy-end.

    You're way too tolerant.

You act like a rich guy who sees butterflies and love all around, a world made out of pink candy.

    Neal Boyd was AVERAGE. Period.

  • I think he is SOOOOOOO AMAZING!!! I just don't think this song, sung pretty well, quite compliments his voice so much. :)

  • This is one of the hardest songs to sing. I think he did pretty darn good.

  • That was simply beautiful:)))

  • Four types of music lovers, out there:

    1. Composers

    2. Composers and Singers

    3. Singers

    4. Listeners -- which should avoid getting technical when reviewing a musical act.

    :)

I can understand those no.4 music lovers who like Neil's performance, as it's nothing but a matter of taste. But for anyone who actually has a musical ear, Neil's performance is too flat. He's slaughtered the anthem. So he can go up with his voice and keep it there; but that's not everything singing is about. Keep it real!

  • @parfumeria33ro No he didn't slaughter the Anthem, that was his rendition or interpretation, if you bind or limit yourself to the technical aspects of singing, that my friend pollutes the soul.

I understand where you are coming from but if Artists didn't bend or break the rules then Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dali would have never been recognized.

and your comment about listeners is proof that you are a snob and that comment was poorly thought out, if u love music u need to respect listeners!

  • not his best performance but this guy in my eyes.. simply amazing. fuck all these guys below me

  • This was so awful, and last night at the SUNS game, it was so much worse! I'm not sure if this guy could change keys any more, but he changed keys so many times last night, that I mistakened him for someone that had down syndrome, and they were doing something special for someone to sing the Anthem, as if it was there wish or something. I thought that, because I was listening to the game on the radio, and I had never heard of this guy before. It was just terrible.

  • ok, towards the start of the video, is the announcer saying "our recountry"?

because he's definitely not saying "our country" clearly.

also, the crowd are douches, not much of a applaud for such a clearly and well sung anthem, this is one of the rare cases when you can actually understand that the person is actually saying while singing star spangled banner, for shame for the crowd.

  • I'm having a hard time accepting that this was anything more than poor.

  • sooooooooooo fat

  • This is... horrible. And the annoucer mixing all this recording contract business in the lead-up... disgraceful. The National Anthem is not a marketing opportunity. It must be held sacred, and sung so.

  • Jerry only did better. lol :)

  • Sorry, can't post the link. It's listed on youtube as

Neal E. Boyd at Busch Stadium (rare) America's Got Talent

  • This was terrible. I've watched him on AGT and it seems when he's singing softly he can't stay on key or sustain a note. He has a strong chest voice but, it's off sometimes, too. I was so embarrased for him watching this video. Watch his look when he's being introduced. It makes me think HE thinks he's much better than what he is.

    Here's another video that's embarrasing

The announcer had to get people to clap for him.

  • the audio is crap

  • As much i am fan of Neil. This was horrible off-key.

  • @nukkumatti13 He pretty much stays in 1 key (Db) the entire time actually. It's actually pretty good.

  • dont like

  • Awesome

  • I've heard it said , that song is one of the hardest songs to sing... In 52 years, I don't believe I've ever heard it done better...

  • SWEET , GOOD GUY. NOT TALENTED ENOUGH TO SING THIS WITHOUT BACKUP, THOUGH. CAS SHOULD'VE WON AGT.

  • I prefer BORAT ver.

  • Somthing wrong with the sound system or the mic i say , in AGT he was doin realy good .

  • he is an opera singer, to go from opera to regular singing is a challenge, listen to him sing opera then all of you will know why he won Americas Got Talent

  • @tacerno donald bradwell does it! watch him singing the anthem too, and singing something totally different "a change is gonna come" he sings so much better than Neal. If you talk about opera well listen Lenski's Aria singed by Donald too. He stands as a true tenor, different from neal who sounds as any hobby opera singer as paul potts : /

  • Too bad he sucks and can't hold notes. Or sing, or know how to breathe when reciting lyrics. ... ... why did he win "America's Got Talent" again?

  • i like his voice, its very passionate

  • name of the song at the end?

  • goodness that was terrible! how did he win? it was so out of tune.

  • He sings it MUCH better at the high school performance that you'll see it in the related videos to the right.

  • heheeh I dont like the way he sing my goodness.

  • Looks to me like he's gone from obese to morbidly obese, so much so that it's affecting his breathing and hence the lack of any sustain and power.

  • hes ok not to intune, give back the mil

  • He is tone-deaf I think....can't sing a capella. But he's probably good with musical accompaniment.

  • Weak, out-of-tune, hideous...

  • You know music so well!! I am excited to see what you have posted! So where can I find your masterpiece? I bet you have done amazing things with your awesome ears!!! I have a lot of musical friends I have encountered on the insult train!! Most have been right!! You must be amazing! I can't wait to see what you can do!!!!

  • shut up,its freedom of opinion

  • I like Neal, but he did too many decrescendos.

  • Strangely, the thing I find very wonderful about this clip is the announcer, Too many do not make a point of making sure folks are reminded that the song is to honor our nation, flag, and those who have fought for it. I am glad he told them to stand and remove hats,etc.. (as a note they should put their hands on their heart too, unless they are military, then they salute -and yes it is legislated that way, look it up if you don't believe me). I really like Neal but not his best performance

  • Terrible..... sad......

  • Just bad... No one clapped for him lol. Nuttin but strings should have won anyway...

  • 1proudMa i can see that all you are interested in doing is to tanish neal boyd's image ,i have watched two of ur videos on him and the audio was rubbish plz find urself something else to dooooooooooo.

  • This was not good at all!

  • is the microphone working properly because it dosent sound like the mic is working properly

    kat

  • I think he does it pretty well, but the recording and mixing is truly crap!!! I am a singer and I can tell you guys that NOBODY would sound amazing in that kind of recording.

  • I'll Pass

  • Never wrote on youtube before such a thing, but comparing to other national performers who came out from the show this one is definetely the worst . A fake power with no technique and any sound quality just some extra pounds that fills the stage. That's what blinds the eyes of the people probably as the pavarotti classical look but the singing stinks :(

  • go check out donald braswells performance of this. its so much better

  • Comment removed

  • he gets fatter everytime i see him

  • He did well, but you could tell he wasn't as passionate about this as the opera- it's cool, just a shame since it's the national anthem. Still a good performance though. =)

  • he is opera singer not a NA singer

  • off key here all the way. don't try the NA again Neal

  • Reading all these petty negative reviews of a major talent is rather disheartening to say the least. Sounds like a bunch of jealous whiny children ranting because they lack any real talent or life. How very sad indeed.

  • sounds like someone's got a crush on neal e boyd.

  • @joddar Sorry bro. You are dead wrong on this. He was off key, and it was pretty bad especially when he sang softly. I'm sure he has to be somewhat good to win a competition, but he did even worse last night at the SUNS game. I was listening to it on the radio and was completely shocked that they would let someone be off key and change keys as much as much as he did. So, respectfully, I completely disagree.

  • it was jus okay... i was expectin more... but he still did good

  • Ratisbone68,

I agree with you 100%. Neal E Boyd is flat most of the time. Donald Braswell;s voice was trained and he could sing on key. A nice little extra, huh?

I think people thought he was another Paul Potts, but he wasn't even close.

  • I rooted for Neal the whole way on AGT, and I was so glad he won that show... but man, I REALLY wish he would concentrate on holding those notes longer... that's what the people really like to hear, in addition to the beautiful voice... he just needs to keep practicing, and concentrate on holding those notes longer, and he'll just keep getting more popular.

  • @therodneyguy I so agree with you. Would love to hear that beautiful voice do longer notes sometimes. He's got what it takes to do so. Don't know how he is doin' now...wish a lot better.

  • If Neal actually makes a record, the engineer will fix all the bad notes. The general public doesn't know the difference between him and Pavarotti. Now, go listen to the NA by the incomparable Archuleta.

  • ave at best I just knew donald was way better. you should here him sing o holy night amazing

  • Not real impressed. I know he can sign better than this. I much preferred the Donald Braswell performance at the San Antonio Spurs game.

  • I'm sorry Neal this is not very good.

Donald Braswell did a much better Job

singing the National Anthem for the Spurs Game

    its on Youtube.

  • I have to agree with Laker6690. Very flat. Was he just nervous??

  • The microphone is cheap, causing it not to capture the true voice of a brilliant singer.

  • i know neal can sound better than this! he did excellent on the show...whats up with this? i am disappointed.

cant no one beat Whitney houston singing the national anthem! Hang it up Neal! ugh!

  • Chakalateperfection , Listen to Donald Braswell's version, he is equal to Whitney Houston in the song in quality all around!!

  • Donald was not talented

    :/

  • He is a disaster. Always flat. And a vibrato that really sucks

  • it wasnt bad he was probably nervous not singing with music

  • this guy really sucked :))))))....I'm not american...but I would've perform alot better :))))

  • OUCH!!! He butchered the National Anthem... Maybe that's why this video is labeled "rare"...

  • Sorry but I didn't think he did that good. I don't know if it was just the recording but he got off in the beginning and he just didn't have that power in his voice. So I guess that I will just blame it on the recording. but none the less neal is a great singer and I am sure that he will have a bright future.

  • Donald Braswell was in the Top 5. Look up Donald Braswell National Anthem.

  • This is awesome!!! Thanks so much for posting - I love Neal - he's a great guy and I hope to meet him one day and see him perform

  • He's from Sikeston, Missouri.
