Chemerkin only jerked 129.145 pounds more than Mark Henry, but Mark Henry is the "world's strongest man?" How did the people who slap that label on Henry do in math class? I think Chemerkin could have beat Henry at any lift whatsoever, including a dead lift. I also think he would have done anything he wanted with Henry in a wrestling ring (and most anyone else also). Chemerkin was the he-bull here, not Mark Henry.
how the hell did mark henry make it to the olympics with a 202.5 clean and jerk??? im 18 and will do more than that this summer at 250 pounds??? are you shitting me?
@oopoo64 he might mean he'll clean and jerk 202.5kg whilst weighing 250lbs himself
but he probably made it to the olympics and got injured so was just doing 202.5 to make a lift in the competition, im sure he could lift more than that
@brasilcork An Austrian (representing Germany) has won the gold in the 2008 Games. They have been rivals for decades. It can go either way with either of them, depending on how their training goes.
At about 5:03 they said that Stefan Botev was the lightest man ever to clean and jerk 250 kg as a super-heavyweight. But didn't Yuri Zakharevich set the all-time world record at 250.5 kg as a heavyweight?
You need to see the ignorant opinions coming from people who have no real knowledge of Olympic Weightlifting. It's infuriating. Some people are stereotyping weightlifters for appearing average when they can be in various shapes and sizes. It bothers the hell out of me on how some let their presumptions be taken for facts, then exaggerated, etc. Olympic Weightlifting is the greatest challenge in overall power, strength, and speed. I'm still amazed with names like Alexeev, Taranenko, etc.
@bust3rblader When you watch the video, he was limping off the platform from his lift. He sustained an injury. Setting up for the jerk movement of the lift, you may notice a tweek (strain) or pull with his left leg.
@TheMarmot24 What has happened with the new youtube layout. I clicked onto your page, and I could not send a message to you from there. It is interesting to notice that gmail, facebook, youtube, yahoo, and I forget what else has changed their layout format.
Yes, but for example the deadlift is referred to as the "first pull" in oly lifts and is the simplest part of the lift, do you understand my point now ?
i get your point, olympic lifting is as much test of technique as a test of strength. i know that the 2nd pull is extremely hard to master and that the tiniest flaw in technique will fuck up the whole lift. pl'ing is not like that, but technique is still important
@sr19 Deadlifts are more simple compared to Olympic Lifts. The Olympic Lifts are divided into at least 6 - 10 parts to better understand how they are performed. Being able to have a very strong deadlift and squat is a small part of O. Lifting.
what i dont get is how come weighlifter, 10 years on are still l,ifting the same weight. like the final lift here was 260kg, in beijing the finial lift was 258?! are we ever going to see the 600lb clean and jerk? or the 500lb snatch?
yeah, if he was bumped up to the the 105+ kg class he would do it with ease, that guy is not human. but if he did it in the 105 class. he is our new god.
yeh imagine how embarassing that would be for the superheavyweights! but in all seriousness this guy has incredible potential, now he just needs someone to push him. come on klokov/lapikov! :P
yeah the superheavyweights looked like shit this year. if you want someone i'll do it, give me fake weights and i'll make him work it. jkjk if i make the olympics in 2012, im hoping to be his competition.
no U think about it, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about, the 272 kg jerk is some what realistic as its 6 kgs above the all time WR, but a 228 snatch is 12kgs above any super heavy weight of all time and 18 kgs above what yuri zacheravich did as a 110- lifer. 228 snatch will not happen
every so many years there comes a lifter that will dominate a class, ex. kurlovic in '88 and '92, dimas and kahiasvills '92, '96' 00. this year andrei amruaru was the star of the olympics.
well when you think about it, injuries are really common in weightlifting, so therefore sometimes the best lifters arent at their best, and when you get so heavy small changes can make a massive difference (and steroids are harder to get away with)
@sr19 Chemerkin made an attempt on that in 2000, he couldn't get under the bar. I was hoping he could have tried on his 2nd attempt, then a 3rd attempt if he missed.
Henry is strong..but he was in wrong sport...Botev is my favourite in this video:D Former bulgarian and you really can see it when you watch he's lifts :P there was just 2 stronger guy that day....
The heaviest squats that even superheavyweight raw lifters do are between 350-400 kilos..... anything over 400 kilos is either bogus or truely exceptional... but mark henry i would say could do a REAL SQUAT and 100 % raw he was doing around 380 kg at his best , which is amazing! he did do 430 kg, however there is absolutely no evidence of this lift, and was probably poorly performed with some assisting equipment.. the 430 kg is the heaviest "official" raw squat, but anything 400 + is bogus tbh
well i dont think anyone could do it easily :P but possibly, these russians are freaks! and of course with kurlovich was a juicer. thing is it's hard to believe it if you cant see it...
lol true, and ye suppose so, they just dont look strong enough, but i recon these guys can do full totally raw squats with sorta 320 fronts and 350/360 kg back squats.. some figures are exadurated, ive seen things like Udo beyer (a shot putter) do 450 kg squat.... now i know he did them but that sounds impossible !
really? i'd love to see that! i thnk the reason we are so ready to doubt is that on the internet we have powerlifters going on about how strong they are and putting any other athletes down. when you look it at it, weightlifters are probably the most athletic of any strength athlete, including WSM. kurlovich didnt look particularly good in 1996, but he did better than taranenko (my hero) so i dont know if we can base anything on the form seen here, any thoughts?
only thing i care about is WWE

why the hell did mark herny do such pussy weight (compared to the other shw's, it was, and he was a heavy guy) he deadlifted 900 lbs.

The deadlift requires no technique compared to the olympic lifts...

while i agree with you that o-lifting recquires an immense amount of technique, deadlifting recquires technique aswell
