Any leader who successfully orchestras a BLOODLESS COUP against one of the most violent governments (supported by America at the time), could not possibly end up torturing the very people he fought and eventually died for. I was only 3yrs when he died. But in many ways his sacrifice has enable me to be free both economically and academically. We have lost a great man. But his efforts were not in vain. Long live the legacy of Bishop... I wish one day I can return to Grenada and run as PM to continue in that legacy (1 term only).

I had no knowledge of this. I'm trying to educate myself on American Imperialism in the Caribbean and surrounding areas. I just read that Guyana distanced itself from Cuba and other Soviet-friendly countries after seeing the invasion of Grenada. I never knew about this revolution. I greatly admire the struggle the people of Grenada went through to be free. America is far from being our best friend. Maurice Bishop, rest in peace! You are still a leader to many.

A good man. The New Jewel Movement tried to bring fairness and dignity to the lives of ordinary people, introducing education for all and free health care. Putting ordinary people before capitalist greed was never going to please the US, it seems very likely the CIA played a role in Bishops death to prepare the way for invasion. Thus that great Anti-Communist hero Reagan saved the US from the threat of this tiny island and its 50,000 people.
