  • Nice post, great group.

Some classic Les Paul guitars there!

  • i think i fell in love with music when in 1958 at 4yo i heard the saxophone solo on the song, Purple People Eater. i'm usually pretty tough, but hearing the start of this Hollies song, tears come to my eyes, one of the most beautiful melodies and vocal harmonies from the 60s

  • Yeah right the 60's was the greatest decade of music, lots of group that we can really listen i mean really music not just a noise and a bloody the same lyrics repeated 100x, i let my 16 year old son and his friend listen just for a while at first they dont like but later they begin to like the music of the 60's they said they can even now appreciate the love song and pops and found out also that the new generation have made new music out from the 60and just change some melodies and lyrics

  • I was born in the wrong decade...

  • @MarceloFarias not with youtube...

  • @phil4508 Yeah, but not living those times, with all those beautiful bands makes me really sad. Only few bands today bring us that feeling, if you know what I mean...

  • @MarceloFarias I lived in that time and you would be amazed on how many did not like it...have you heard of the ...generation gap...a big problem...

  • @MarceloFarias That's nonsense good taste transcends all generations..

  • @blueticecho Yeah, but the 60's had plenty of superb bands, and today there's a lack of them. That's what I meant.

  • IDK if that many ppl know that ALOT of these early groups had members that went on to bigger, not maybe better things? Just evolved, I should say. Who can name the original members of this group, & what they went on to be? Not too many of you, would be my guess1 Feed-back PLZ!!!

  • I wish music was like this still. But now you have kids listening to disgusting heavy metal screamo crap.

  • @JammerZice that is what was said of rock and roll...oh for the big bands...

  • Dear Abby, I've been trying to convince my wife to make this our song (long story), but musically she can't acknowledge anything before 2011.Please help!

  • @Delriversit I'm not Abby, but whatever. If she does not feel it then let it be. this music is so precious.

  • Tony Hicks wails on the guitar!!! very underrated guitarist!!

  • @4runner39 i agree! he is so low profile, but definitely one of the guitar GREATS

  • Great sound - just wish there had been a few close ups of Nash....

  • FABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the drummers kicking it in every live video... makes all the difference in the world... great stuff...

  • Actually written by Graham Gouldman of 10CC fame

  • this song really has some good guitar playing in it - you don't see Graham Nash play electric/lead guitar all that often!!!

  • where is this?

  • so cool love this one so sweet

  • what a beautiful song

  • to toyogc4ever

hey man yes the 60's were the time that the music spoke but in the air was a useless war that cause the early death of 58000 fellow baby boomers and friends, classmates to be my age now is very haunting with this shadow hanging over us we must never forget that while people got rich on war many many good people lost their lives for nothing

  • hey toyogc4ever: if you were 17 when this song came out (I was 18) you'd be 18 soon and into the army and over to Vietnam you would go. Being 17 today has its advantages.

  • graham

  • this song jams!! I never thought much of Graham Nash's guitar playing but he & the other guitarist really jam on this-they don't make songs like this anymore,Hollies were very underrated!!

  • I was 11 when this was a hit. I enjoy it till now. There was something then that we can never bring back. Sixties music is divine for me.

  • Also F autotune IMO

  • Agreed Cryo stand and fucking deliver. 60's had something that is so rare today...

    Authenticity

  • The Hollies are totally underrated ~ love them ! I was about 3 years old when this was filmed...

  • Esta canción de The Hollies es perfecta para este mes de agosto

  • Awesome double harmony lead break!!!! SWEET!!!

No autotune, no dancers, no snakes, no wardrobe malfunctions.....just stand and deliver!!!!

    The 60's rock!

  • 1:17 lol they look like a lively bunch

  • Great Great !!!

  • Bons tempos!

  • I photographed the Hollies in 77. To see the shots go to 70srockphotos (.com)

  • The singer, wow what a cutie!

  • I'm never tired to see this video and hear this song!!!

  • Ok I have always thought this was the BEATLES! Wow. Yes, duh now I can hear the voices don't sound like Beatles....

  • This band was always great, but was never the same after Graham Nash left.

  • OMG! ANOTHER incredible song by this group. WTF!?!?

  • THE BEST OF TIMES!

  • Shoot, they don't do good camera directing back then. The camera did not even show the face of the guitarist on the left, which I think was Graham Nash, or CSNY fame. Still brought me back to when I was just beginning to appreciate good songs.

  • sixties were a great time to be a teenager...music was great and many

bands available and music was playable by average bands of the time...

but dont forget we also had vietnam, race riots, and assassinations....

there was good and bad....like today. Great music then...hip hop sucks today.

  • Its all you need, no autotune either.

  • brings back memories of life in Durban in the late 60's and even earlier at school in Rhodesia.....ya awesome group

  • one of the greats in music history...elected to the rock n roll hall of fame..........

  • The best music of all time. Although I'm 40+ , and a seasoned musician, this is talent in an era where people are all too sad. Keep the faith folks!!

  • What a good lookin guy that Allan Clarke is! And boy what a singer too, he's got the whole package.

  • @ocarrington totally agree with you there

  • fora da caridade nao há salvação. preceito espirita

  • 1960s= greatest music of the 20th Century

  • @lancetop amen!

  • @lancetop

    I agree!!! :)

  • @lancetop no doubt about it

  • come on, again, i say, Great Britain is the luckiest country ever, in this world, they got a lot of great bands formed in their country

  • i love 60's no. one.. i love it!

  • I was also 12 when this was a radio hit:) Interesting how the hairstyles here in 1966 are almost identical to today's male hairstyles:)

  • One of the greatest mental pictures in a song that was ever written! "Bus stops, she stays, bus goes, love grows under my umbrella..."The poetry of innocence and love set to incredble harmonies and hooks. Back then, it seems like every other song was just about as good as this one.

  • being a rich teenager in san francisco or london might have been fun but i don`t think there was much free love in glasgow, preston and bathgate.

  • Wow I was 15 in 1966 too. We had no desire to be in a

    different era. We loved it!

  • That Les Paul at the start, if still around, is worth in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

  • I want to be a 60's teenager :(

  • @bkteddybecks I was...and I miss those days...

  • @MusicMan7gk I can imagine aww :( but you lived it

  • @bkteddybecks ...all gone now...the memories are all any of us has!

  • @MusicMan7gk I can only imagine those times..I'm 20 now :( my father always think of those magical 60's..memories and memories. great generation you are.

  • Downstage right: Graham Nash ( CSNY )

  • At 17, I was trying to get the attention of a 'certain girl'. This song was pure courage or something like that. Just a pleasant time and song. The Hollies were mostly bubble gum, If I remember correctly? Chew on.

  • nice song, i have been listening to this since the days i was in college

  • This song was played the whole summer of 1966 on Music Radio 77 WABC New York.

What a great time we had!

  • I turned 16 in may 66. It was great times. I was lucky too. Forever in my mind heart and soul. XD

  • Sixteen people have never ridden a bus.

  • @roguejulie think they may be deaf too.

  • I photographed the Hollies in 1977 in Canada. To see the shots go to ianmarkmusicphotos (.com)

  • his smile is so amazing

  • wow-- "We gotta get out of this place!"

A High School diploma, and off to AnnArbor!

    Yup, I'm a yuppie.

  • Ate hoje, uma música gostosa de se ouvir, Instrumental e vocal perfeitos.

  • At the Bus Stop! She would be waiting for the man.

At the Bus Stop! Exchanging glances with the man.

At the Bus Stop! That's why EVERYTHING BEGAN at the BUS STOP!

  • Every time when i hear this song, it makes me very glad. I am sure, that the Hollies themselves performed this song with lots of pleasure.

  • I was, apparently, conceived to this song. I think it's about the most perfect song I have ever heard.

  • Some might say this is "bubble gum" music. There is a innocence here. Well, I wish there was more of it for our youngster but they have skipped this period of their lives with all the Hip Hop, Gansta Rap, Raw movies, and internet porn.

  • @ringingo007 : Couldn`t agree more. You had to live through this era to know how great and important it was. Sadly, today there is no real music to speak of...

  • 16 people ride in cabs.

  • Deserved members of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I loved that British invasion!!

  • That's Graham Nash of Crosby Stills and Nash in the white shirt on the left of the singer.

  • AH....... mum

  • I was born in '61, but I remember this song very well. Even now it brings back memories of uncomplicated Saturday mornings when the world was fresh and new (for me) ... And isn't Allan Clarke cute! :)

  • @jmacleve I am 46 and this is my fav song of all time!

  • can not reproduce this in anyway, the sound, etc. Thank god we did not have electrical devices to enhance their voices. It's a great sound with great sound. Love the guitar!! You can not even reproduce the emotion the song evokes!

  • wow, lucky fuckers.

2011, what a time to be 17. i think i cannot say the same :/

its got its good things, but being a teenager in the 60s must have been mega!

  • @toyogc4ever

    It was wonderful.

  • @gamecritter oh, im sure it was!

did you get to see the hollies or even the beatles live?

  • @toyogc4ever Yeah...it was...

  • @toyogc4ever My opinion - it was awful!!

  • @Teachering haha, why is that?

  • @toyogc4ever I understand your point that being a teenager in the '60s "...must have been mega!", and in some ways it was. Even though it was a very creative time in music, there was a whole lot of crap coming over the airways - I'd say probably more than 80%. Think of what this period calls to mind: civil rights movement and terrible violence associated with it; the Vietnam War - a lot of young men killed; drug use beyond sensibility; the death of John Kennedy - and I hated my teen years.

  • @Teachering Yeah, im sure all that is true. i reckon it must have been incredible being young in the 60s -I would have loved to-, but im probably just looking at the positive aspects of the decade.

also, im sure it was better in England than in America.

    Take care

  • @toyogc4ever Are you from England? If so, I'm so sorry that my focus was on the U.S. My viewpoint must sound pretty narrow. I can't speak for England, of course. However, my love of rock and roll, love of literature, and especially my love of guitar has its roots in England. Growing up with The Beatles, Eric Clapton and George Harrison, Jeff Beck, The Rolling Stones, The Kinks to name so few, really helped me through my years growing up. I wonder what it's like for teenagers these days?

  • @Teachering It's ok, man.

Like I said, technology is good, the Internet is good if you dont spend your life in front of your computer.

It's all fine, but I don't think it's not even comparable to the 60s.

Even leaving music and all that aside, the stories I've heard from people that grew up in the 60s really sound mindblowing to me (people from England and France, that is). They had so much stuff going on for them.

And my father's English, but I live in Spain.

  • @Teachering And also, I'm extremely jealous of the people who got to see The Beatles live, lucky fuckers haha.

    Anyway, take care

  • @Teachering i was only 12 in '66 so i was pretty much oblivious to all the bad sh*t. and because i was weened on rock and roll, all i new was that i was into something good!!! man i even stayed up all night long on new years eve just so i could tape the top 100 count down of that year. i was only 12, but that music obviously transended all ages and genders and none of us wanted to be any where else because this was the best thing there ever was. and maybe....... still is?

  • @toyogc4ever lemme think... ok yah it was magical! hee hee!

  • @toyogc4ever It was unbelievable,the music,the fashons,art,most importantly the consciousness revolution.

The best period of any teenage period.....PERIOD. we changed the worlds thinking, like a beautifully coloured butterfly emerging from the prison of its chrysalis, flying free of the old order.

We seem to be slipping back into materialism, violence, mindless mass obsession with TV and bad news day after day, dull repetitve pop music nothing like the Hollies etc produced. wow.thats better......

  • @toyogc4ever youd be suprised how enjoyable is with less restrictions, less pressure, and less shit to go wrong. I'm sure the 60's were a fantastic time to grow up

  • @zacatetas absolutely

  • @toyogc4ever From someone who was a teenager then, the music of this era was quite remarkable, but don't feel left out. There were other parts of this era that were horrible. 56,000 US Soldiers died in a useless war, a lot of them drafted and unable to avoid it. We had a president and his brother killed. Martin Luther King killed. Terrible tension on many college campuses, Kent State tragedy, race riots. Actually the music is about all that was good about those times. I would not want to return.

  • @toyogc4ever It was Awesome my friend fantastic music, real good summers BLISS

  • @toyogc4ever Yeah, until you had to fill out your draft card.

  • @toyogc4ever I was a teenager in the 60s and the 70s. In my opinion the 60s were the greatest. There were The Beatles, The Beach Boys,The Monkees, The Rolling Stones,The Grassroots,The Buckinghams, The Classic four,The Cowsills, Paul Revere and the Raiders, The Animals, Herman Hermits,The Rascals The Zombies and The Hollies to name a few. There was also music by Elvis Presley,Connie Francis,Lesley Gore,Patsy Cline Frankie Avalon. Chad and Jeremy , Peter and Gordon The 60s were sensational !

  • @davidlangzelli i do not doubt that :)

  • @davidlangzelli not to mention Motown, Aretha, Joplin... yes, the sixties are impressive!!

  • @davidlangzelli ,,DC5, BGs, DS, Cascades, Bread, RC Singers..Carpenters, PP&M...

  • @davidlangzelli correct sir spidermike

  • @toyogc4ever

IT WAS♥ and something I can carry with me ALWAYS!♥♪♪♫

  • @toyogc4ever what a lovely time to be 21... not;-) oh, how i agree with you!

  • @kylieemode yeah :)

wow, A LOT of people have replied to my comment, and youre the first person that didnt live in the 60s.

    i feel better now ;)

  • @toyogc4ever Depends on who you ask? If you were one of the many drafted to Vietnam...I doubt they would be saying the same.

  • @toyogc4ever

No, it was hell. If you were a boy, you were harrassed about the length of your hair. If you were a girl, you were girl you were challenged about the length of your skirt, or dress. Most of us acquiesed to "their demands", 'cause we wanted to get enough education to be able to have some "positive impact" on the world.

Don't think we made it! 'Cause the world is an awfull, bloody mess, now...

  • @graphicalnuances hey the draft was The Best !!!!!spidermike

  • I'm Canadian, and not accountable for the mess the american government made of the "Vietnam Wars"!

  • @gearld73 Only draft that was the best was Sam Adams.

  • Then as now I would have walk right by a free Beatles show and would have paid to see and hear these guys. ......Peace.

  • I can't find the post, but someone here talks bad about Bobby's drumming, It sounds was fine, I was drumming during in this time also, our equipment was "rags" at best, but that was the technologly of the time....I say to this person, Ringo, for all he was said it best "my band was The Beatles, who was your band?", well poster, Bobby's band was/is The Hollies, who's your band?......Peace.....

  • That Burst Les Paul is worth 25 times it's weight in gold now!

  • Read Stanley Milgram's "The Individual in a Social World." What's going on in the narrative of this song is against human nature. That said, I had this record (yes, the record, to which I listened on one of the trusty Fisher turntables that were always around in the house) as a boy in the 1980s, and hearing this stuff now brings back a lot of fond memories of my folks.

  • 1966. What a time to be 17. Dating the hottest 19 yr. old alive crusin the strip in muscle cars listening to tunes like this. Wow is right!

  • LOVE these guys!!!

  • Yikes does anyone have an accurate time line personnel change for this band? Do they beat the Yardbirds in that category?

  • the 15 people who dint like this video are justin biber fans

  • Such innocent lyric. Compare this to the genital references, four letter words and vulgarity of a typical rap song.

  • What a nice song about flirting and romance. People take a hint, huh.

  • I was 16.

  • 1966. What a time to be 15. Wow; so very fortunate.

  • @grindlbebe if you were 15 in 66, you must know i hate you so much, i'm 17 today and i would sell my mother to come back to 60-70's.

  • @Niallad94 Why you are saying this thing ? I was 14 in 1966 and was being honed to be the lead guitarist , we were all around band we play all the song of the well known groups including soloist everybody enjoys it if we play The Beatles the audience jumps if we play The hollies the same audience gone crazy if we play Brenda Lee (we have female vocalist)they all felt in love the same audience felt in-love if we play Jerry Vale songs, i was on this period 2nd rhythm, your parents happy years

  • @ceboym I say it because, nowadays, what is called "music" just make me sheaf. Ofc, sometimes there's good music, behind the actual "music" but good music is becoming rare, because of tv and radio.

God thanks, with internet we all can listen to real music, played by real musicians, and i'm not only talking about rock.

  • @ceboym I say it because the dear old time of rock (i mean the 60-70's) is gone and i'll never see my fav bands playing, cause i'm in love with psych and prog rock and cause those types of music can't be found nowadays, except on the internet.

  • @grindlbebe yea, i'm totally jealous...I would have given my left nut (maybe even both! lol jk) to have been born anywhere between 1940 and 1960.

  • @grindlbebe Same here. I was 15 in 66. Great time to be in High School.

  • @grindlbebe That you were!!

  • @grindlbebe

I AGREE!!!!! I WAS 18 in 1966 and I loved growing up in that era... I have so many memories and great

times in high school with no drugs, crime and I would not have traded it for anything. I WAS LUCKY

TO GROW UP IN THE 60's.......

  • @grindlbebe hey, hey hey hey hey hey! it was a great time to be 12 too!

  • @grindlbebe me too no crime you could leave your doors un locked those were the good old days

  • @grindlbebe I was 15, and this song is branded into my brain, for more than one reason. It's in my top 5 all time favorite songs.

  • classic hollies. great

  • Ein wunderschöner Titel!

  • Love the Hollies - the Hollies forever!

  • i <3 <3 <3 this song. such a great classic. i always have my own image of the song. haha.

  • I guess 14 people did not like what she brought.

  • me encanta es cancion..muy buena

  • they nailed this live just like the record

  • I think Carie Ann is better

  • They were all so young back then! Love the Hollies!

  • To:doctortabby Take a closer look, as, from 0:28-0:33, the bassist is shown, albeit very briefly.

  • Love the drum licks!

  • @bitscolumn Love them!!!

  • @BARRIEMOREBARLOW I do too! So glad the Hollies were inducted into the RRHOF in 2010.

  • The Hollies are amazing! I respect those 14 retards that don't like this song... hahaha, no I certainly don't... what were they thinking? were they thinking?

  • Great old clip of them. Lots of close-up shots of Allan. Not enough of Graham, though.

  • a much underrated group! they could be competitive alongside the Beatles on any day of the week!

  • @Terrilliser apart from the fact that the hollies didn't write this and the beatles wrote all of their own hits

  • do people undestand that when people select "thumbas down' it may be because the video isnt good enough quality for them, an intro could be cut out it could be anything, so people should stop saying the x amount of ppl who dont like (insert band name here) are retards.. because it doenst meant they dont like the hollies, just this one specific video on youtube.. n dont send me a msg or anything its my two cents i dont give a fuck for u to write me a email tellin me how wrong i am..

  • Not one shot of the bass player and way too much time with the camera just on people's heads while they are singing. This is typical of the way a lot of videos were shot back then (and unfortunately all too often still are in some cases).

  • oh no,the puffy shirt,

  • @garebear1015 Ahead of the curve again

  • Back when music was better - I know cuz I was there!

  • It sounded live, too. Try that these days!

  • my husband loves to play guitar, i remenber he asked me to marrie him with this song. this song is very sppecial to me.

  • He has a great voice.

  • oooooohhhhhhhhhhh.............SHINY SHIRTS

  • The Hollies rule. love this song. this band.

  • Yes, the Hollies had the magic, as so many did in that era. Where did all the songwriters go???
