@Mikkedev Nor are they capable of having other advanced emotions like jealousy, vengefulness, etc. Generally, emotions that require some deeper reflection processes. Like I said though, they seem very much in tune with the emotions of the humans. They are great at reading humans..... When people say their dog felt ashamed, guilty, etc. thy are doing nothing but anthropomorphizing their pet, as humans are psychologically predispositioned to do.

@Mikkedev "adorably" can mean domesticated in this case. It is no secret that domesticating animals causes them to be more friendly, calm and generally submissive towards humans. This is after all, why they became domesticated in the first place. I never claimed they don't understand emotions. In fact, they seem very in tune with catching human emotions. I did however, claim that dogs are not capable of displaying/having/feeling emotions which require self reflection

Yes, animal behaviors may be different for different species... I don't know what you are trying to say here...

Dogs may appear "shameful" though, because they may display submissive behavior such as tail down hiding face, avoiding eye contact. This is not "shame". But I agree, cats are independent narcissists, who can act like royal assholes sometimes...

Not enoying being scolded has nothing to do with feeling shame. They are two separate issues.

I don't like being scolded - doesn't mean I'm ashamed of what I've done wrong (I may even feel I'd done nothing wrong), I just don't like the conflict - who does?

Dogs are not people, they feel neither guilt nor shame. Being social animals; they feel insecure having their alpha angry at them as they want to please the alpha always. Cats are mostly solitary thus less attuned to such things.
