If I had only one video to show a person who has never seen Tommy, this would be it. It really shows what he's about. Who is is filming this and where can I get the DVD? Was it for his PBS video?
@Qwinkly3 I guess some schooled musicians have to have it all written out. If I couldn't improvise musically I wouldn't go near a stage and Tommy. Sheesh.
Yes you are right, Tommy does these Jokes everytime he playes with the girls. But they never know before, what he will play, because he doesn't it before himself. I work for him as his alternate Sound Technician and he never can give me a Setlist for the upcoming show, because he plays the songs which match withnthe mood of the audience (and so: his mood!-). Sometimes he tells me"I will start the show with "Fingerlakes" but 5 minutes later he wlks on stage and plays another song. That's Tommy:-)

Tommy is such a funny guy. I just love him! His jokes are great as well as his concerts. The best guitar player ever! Can't be human...yes, I got it - God playing the guitar! Hope to see him soon again. Btw Johnny B. Goode - great!
actually I had seen similar Tommy's "musical jokes" with strings quartet somewhere recorded here on youtube.it wasn't the same, but I guess he does it a lot when he performs with the girls.
@marmur82 Sure, he frequently does it, when playing with the string quartet, but they rarely play together. There's another, very popular video with a great medley here on Youtube. In this Rietberg performance, though, Tommy really ROCKS out and challenges and chases the quartet like in no other version, I think. That's why: ultimate.

@EricClaptonFan24 "Walk Don't Run", like the Ventures did it, who were inspired by Chet Atkins for this song.
