  • Where is daneel??? from asimov

  • Holly? MCP? HAL? Those are a stretch for the description of "robot." An artificial intelligence isn't the same as a robot, and that's all those three were, immobile, fixed, and physically-dependant, little more than advanced calculators, all three had limited means to observe remotely, but unable to venture outside. Kit nearly qualifies the same, but just has wheels instead of feet. Holly's remote isn't "him."

Oz's Tinman? Insofar Oz was Dorothy's dream, he was a living being, not a robot.

  • Liked and Fvourited, some really great memories there! Ty!

  • can someone help me out here? "Andy the Android @ 2:58 is from what short lived TV show with Richard Benjamin there? I remember this but seem to be the only one but there's a shot from it right there

  • The TV show was called "Quark." It was released on DVD in 2008. Type "quark tv series" into Google and a bunch of stuff will come up.

  • Nice list, good to see old V.I.N.C.E.N.T and B.O.B again, but you seem to miss the Screamers mk. I, II and III in particular (the child version) (from the movie screamers). Though it of cause could be because you did not feel they should be there. And Marvin from Hitchhikers was he on the list?

Finally I dont think that agents can count since they only exist inside a computer program as a antivirus. Otherwise good job!

  • Marvin is there at 8:25.

  • @mokwella agent smith is a computer programme

and what movie is teddy from?

  • Max Hedroom. Gog. Magog. look them up and mention them

  • You have V.I.N.CENT & B.O.B. but you don't have Maximillian??? He was kickass!!!

  • OMG OMG MY GRANPA DESIGHNED ROBBY THE ROBOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great list ... but some I just don't remember.

  • I love the cylons and I have a Hal 9000 app on my ipod and Gort is just the best ever.

  • I love KITT*hugs KITT*

  • Robby, from The Forbidden Planet, and the robot from Lost in Space -- yeah, so I'm old.

  • Legion.

  • Cool vid. Hopefully mine will make a best list someday. Check my giant killer robot project vids

  • agent smith is not a robot, it's a program.

  • Coolness is a matter of taste. But - the Terminator is always described as a cyborg, even though he doesn't seem to need the flesh parts. And the Tin Man started off human but gradually had to replace bits of himself with metal, so I'd say that made him a cyborg as well!

  • dalek ????????????????

  • daleks are cyborgs -- I tried not to put any on this list. I get busted enough for including AIs!!

  • Comment removed

  • @mokwella Do replicants count as robots? I mean, well, they ARE synthetics but they're "meat robots". Grown not built. Just curious where you draw the line. Otherwise :awesome vid.

  • That made me smile, Thank you.

  • You were almost forgiven for putting Hector as number 100 by having Robby at #1.

However you had the Heart Beeps robots ahead of Hector. You should be made to watch Heart Beeps over and over until your eyes bleed.(which would be halfway through the first showing)

When I saw "SIX" i expected to see Six from "Tripping the Rift".

And yes, D.A.R.R.Y.L. should have definitely been on the list.

  • HOW THE HELL DID TIN MAN BEAT LORD MEGATRON!

  • Tin Man was a Prime back in the day.

  • What, no Darryl from D.A.R.R.Y.L. but yet you have some obscure trash compactor robots. The ones you told where they were from were the ones I knew but then several of the others I did not recognize and there was no explantion where they were from. Still enjoyed the video.

  • ALSO OPTIMUS PRIME

  • GO MEGATRON

  • Great list no matter how you rank them. How about an honorable mention for the "Rock-em Sock-ems"? Ooh, and the Zeroids.

  • for 9/10ths of the way through this video I kept thinking if Robby the Robot was not on the list I would be mad.

  • How the hell is Box (!!!) higher than C3P0?? 3P0 should be closer to the top ten, if not, in the top ten. This list is a joke.

  • It's a matter of taste, and I much prefer "Fish, and plankton, and sea greens and protein from the sea." to "This is such a drag.", "Oh my!" and "DIE, Jedi dogs. Oh... what did I say?"

  • There's some definite grasping of straws here...

  • LAL and i though LOL XD

  • one thing that owl is called bu-bo and it mechanical not robot

  • Hi guys, i just say that "Agent Smith" it's a program into Matrix. But "Darryl" it's a real Robot.

  • 1 Data

    2 Hal 9000

    3 R2-D2

    4 Terminator

  • cool list, but I would have thought Dexter Riley would have made the list over many of the obscure ones.

  • Cavil and the other humanoid cylons aren't robots, they are at best cyborgs.

  • Just thought of another one.

Sgt Eve Edison - Yancy Butler's robot character in Mann & Machine TV Seriers 1992.

  • Yeah - I deliberately tried to limit the representation of fembots on this list, but Eve Edison was complex enough character to make this list.

  • Can't fit 150 robots into the top 100. I thought of a few more, though.

    Bicentennial Man - Robin Williams

    Gog - 1954 movie

Alicia - Twilight Zone - 1959 episode - "The Lonely"

Superman - 1953 TV episode "Runaway Robot"

  • You have BOB and Vincent from the Black Hole, but you are missing the coolest looking robot ever.. Maximillion!

  • The person who did this list should also put the titles to shows/movies some i have no idea.

  • lets clear things up for people. Robot-is a mechanical contraption which can perform tasks on its own, or with guidance. In our terms a AI control body. Android= a robot that looks human. Bionic= human augmented by robotics to To enhance life or ability. Borg(not star trek they are only Bionic in star trek)= Human alter into a robot where as little remains of the biological side as little as just the brain. Robocop is a Borg with a brain & some organs wile Kane is a Borg with only brain left.

  • @starknight97 Mecha= a large robot mainly thought of for war piloted by a human. A.I.= Artificial intelligence. Normally a supercomputer no real body. Hook it to a ship or factor and they become the body making them ify as to be robots. Droid = robots though more often have a humanoid body. 2 legs maybe arms. Wile a robot can be a single arm or even a vacuum cleaner. Drone= a vehicular body often in air or space with a a.i. & remote control.Biodroid= a clone with a removed or remote control A.I.

  • And Holly from Red Dwarf isn't a robot, he's a computer, like HAL from Spcae odyssey, or Agent Smith from the Matrix. A.I. programs!

  • @Destro7000 Real ify hal brother on earth for sure is just a A.I.. yet Hal has a body which is the hole ship. This fits a robot by definition a large one. Think of the SDF1 from robotech. Yet you sample of Agent smith is spot on for A.I. no body and part of a larger system. Yet say smith transferred himself in a Sentinel. he now be a robot.

  • Aww, shoulda put the Monoliths in, from the 2001 A Space Odyssey series!

  • @Destro7000 The Monoliths were roboters? Did I miss something? I watched the movie at least five times and even read the book.

  • @alperloos Yeah you missed a lot. There are 4 books, the Monoliths are robotic Tools left behind by the Firstborn. HALMAN gives them a computer virus to kill them off at the end.

  • @Destro7000 Fuck me, I want to write my bachelor work about computer logic in cinema and 2001 is of course essential... I only read the first book... so I have a fuckton of work ahead :)

    But thanks nevertheless

  • @alperloos hehe, yeah got a fair bit of reading material ahead of you I guess! But yeah, to truly understand why HAL did the things he did you should at least read the 2nd book (2010:Odyssey Two) and after that book he becomes HALMAN when he mixes with David Bowman.

The Monoliths are robots, and so are their counterparts in the 'Time Odyssey' series: The Evil Eyes, which are levitating spheres, but very similar to the Monoliths.

  • Optimus and Data top my list. But where is Starscream

  • good video but

    1) you should put the number with the name

    2) try not using that horrible font

  • It's me Nono small robot you know.

  • what about Babylon 5 backup AI? You know the cranky one

  • i think 100 is really creepy... (does he even have a head?!) and half of the robots in this list are rolling around the floor while melting! WHAT THE HECK!!!!)

  • is r2d2 in the list

  • ROBBY? WHO THE HECK IS ROBBY!!!!!!!

  • DUDE! You don't know Robby the Robot? You need to go watch Forbidden Planet STAT.

  • would darth vader, darth maul and general grevious count? cause vader is mostly rombot and so is grevious, and maul has robotic waist and bellow so they sorta count...?

  • @ClanWolf99 No, no and no. Vader is a Cyborg (part man part machine), so is Grevious...and since when did Maul have a "robotic waist"? Didn't see THAT in Episode 1... Cyborg=part mechanical, part organic, Robot=all mechanical, Android=robot programmed to look/act and/or think that it is Human

  • @wasp27 hey maul has robotic waist! look it up! you dont see them in ep1 and just before ep 4 he attacks luke when he's kinda small but obi wan (ben) attacks him. And he's holding his sabre up to mauls neck, and he's hesitating to kill him when... LUKES UNCLE GRABS A RIFLE AND BLOWS MAULS HEAD OFF!!!!! LITRALLY!!!! IT ROLLED AWAY ON THE FLOOR!!!

IT ROLLED AWAY ON THE FLOOR!!! if u want the whole story lookup darth maul on wookiepedia STAT!

  • @ClanWolf99 I just did-the Maul with the "robotic waist" is a non-canon version (so why bother?) and that would make him a Cyborg, just like Vader, Grevious and Luke (to a certain extent, with his robotic hand).

BTW, "STAT"??? I know what it means but i've only heard medics and Corpsmen use it.

  • Grace Park, the prettiest Cylon I've ever seen. :).

  • rachel is an android

  • where's seven of nine?.

  • @66dizzy= Seven of Nine was born human, and became a borg, and became, mostly human again;.She was never a robot. She was a cyborg. Still, I would have loved to see an honorary mention. Great video.

  • My top 5 Robots would have to be -

    1) T-101 / T-800 / T-850 Terminator [ the Terminator films ]

    2) Cheetor [ Beast Wars and Beast Machines Transformers ]

    3) R2-D2 [ Star Wars ]

    4) Kryten [ Red Dwarf ]

    5 ) Bender [ Futurama ]

  • The W.O.P.R. is not a robot, but a combat computer. But glad you mentioned RUK and Andrea from the Star Trek episode "What Are Little Girls Made Of..."

  • it's seems some of these are AI's and not robots

  • Obviously too much to like to have anything in real order... but I have to like Rachel from Blade Runner forever. Proud to say I liked the film long before the cult following too...Thanks for putting together this very entertaining list!!

  • AND griveous ? R2-2D?

  • LAL ? LOL

  • K.I.T.T. is double!

    But cool collection ^^v

  • Hola: i see that someone already named MAXIMILIAN, but i dont see the answer?? What happen to maximilian?

  • WALL-E!

    LAL!

    And Especially DAta!

    #1 for Data!

  • Robot from Lost In Space? Or did I miss it?

  • He's at 7:17.

  • @mokwella Thanks bud. I knew he had to be there somewhere. I goota pay more attention. lol

  • Instead of Sasquach from Bionic Man, should have used Maskatron. One of the coolest action figures ever had.

There's also a cool robot named John in a Russian Sci-fi, can't remember the name

  • YAY RD-D2

  • MCP and Smith Programs; Software, not Hardware

  • What about Bumblebee from the transformers live-action movies ?

  • Where's Maximilian from the Black Hole, the end scene with him in Hell still gives me the creeps!

  • Agent Smith's not a robot nor A.I he was a computer program even when he went viral he was still a program

  • too many androids !! fail !

  • or first robot in space is čapkův R.U.R -rossum universal robots

  • Daryl (movie D.A.R.Y.L.) and a number of Star Trek robots are missing!

  • She was in the first two Austin Powers movies.

  • Who is Vanesse Kinsington from?

  • Is it just me, or were there actually quite a few cyborgs in there?

As long as Robby is at number 1, I'm happy though. Great work.

  • yay robby got numbre one yay!!!!!!!!!!

  • go megs

  • Where is Cherry 2000?

  • Didn't make the cut.

  • I noticed a couple of non-robots there. Agent Smith for example is more like a holographic projection.

  • And the cybermen!

  • You forgot the Daleks!

  • loved the list but how coul you forget about tweedle dee and tweedle dum the planet fall droids from andromeda, I know they were onyl in 2 episodes but they were crazy.

  • As with the space ships, great job; still wish I was more familiar with a lot more of these than I was. Why no Cybermen, Unicron, or the one from Rocky IV? Oh well, at least you didn't do the one from Space Camp. ;)

  • @MichaelAarons1701 Jinx put Max in space!

  • they look more like headjobers to me

  • Brilliant list, I didn't remember at least half of those.

  • I can't believe, you missed SHODAN and G.L.a.D.O.S.

They were A.I.'s and Robots! HOW COULD YOU!?

  • Robby is good, but where the feck was Metal Mickey?

  • What is Hector from?

  • Saturn 3

  • @michaelhviper Saturn 3

  • Robby the robot is the coolest robot of all time. He cant be destroyed and he makes bourbon. If I was going to have a robot friend, Robby the machine for me.

  • where is Maximillian from the "Black Hole" ???

  • tin man isnt rlly a robot :P

  • What.. no BB from Deadly Friend (booooooo!)

  • roman - wow wow lmao!

  • My sci-fi teacher showed us this in school. and i liked the music. lol

  • Very nice work. I would replace one of these on the list of 100 with the robot from the undergrond in the movie "A Boy And His Dog." I don't remember the name. The film had Jason Robards and Don Jonson. Very good film and very bad robot.

Thank you for your video. Good.

  • where's GWENT from

  • The episode "The Infernal Machine" from Space 1999's second season.

  • @mokwella Good call but it was the first season :)

  • hat is ED 209 from?

  • Robocop

  • What movie or T.V. show is the A.B.C. warrior from?

  • Judge Dredd

  • Thanks for the vid. I would include the robot from "Electric Dreams." (Elmer?) I want to include Elektro, too, but he wasn't in any movies, AFAIK. youtube.com/watch?v=T35A3g_GvSg

  • optumis does appear to be a beast in 1 3/4 of the new movies.

  • That was cool!! You had really old ones like Tobor the great and Gort you had the B9 robot, which in my opinion is the best by the way, You even had Vincent and Old Bob from THE BLACK HOLE.

  • Buffybot???

  • Was Proteus from "The Demon Seed" left out on purpose, or did you just forget? Kudos for having Hector from "Saturn 3" though. And why no Maximilian when you had Vincent and Bob from "The Black Hole"?

  • The B-9 robot from Lost in Space is at 7:15.

  • i thought that mr.smith was software

  • Nice to see Hammerstein in there, carry on.

  • Technically Cylon raiders are Cyborgs;

"A cyborg, also known as a cybernetic organism, is a being with both biological and artificial (e.g. electronic, mechanical or robotic) parts"

  • @PaladinSL Further to that, the original raiders were piloted by other cylons, and the heavy raiders from 2003 were piloted by skinjobs, even the base-stars were run by an organic central control hybrid.

sorry, just finished watching the two series' couldn't help but get my nerd on XD

  • Some of then where only computers and one of then was a artifcal preson.

  • @ButchBearBoyAtl - The Replicants from Blade Runner weren't robots, they were genetically - engineered human beings. The " skin - job " Cylons from RDM's Battlestar Galactica weren't robots or androids either, although they evolved from the metal Cylons.

    " Galaxina " - Dorothy Stratton - should've been included. " Cherry " from " Cherry 2000 " should've been included = Cult favorites.

  • You forgot Robocop and "Uniblob" (The Jetsons)

  • Did I blink and miss the Daleks?

  • @need2bereading The Daleks weren't robots, they weren't even Cyborgs, they were an organism -piloting- a suit.

  • Good list but Dot Matrix from Reboot was not a robot .

  • Like your number one pick. I doing a tribute guitar to robbie right now. check it out at sharkinlay

  • the replicants from Blade runner and the human cylons where more like programed humans than machines also the MCP and agent smith where programs I don't think they should have been included also the terminator was described as a cybornetic organism in the first movie but very good

  • What about D.A.R.Y.L? Data Analyzing Robot Youth Lifeform.

  • I think your wrong with the #1 pick. R2D2 is more famous

  • Hummm Bladerunner is not robotics it is genetics.

  • whats the name of the movie where a guy win a robot which always want to play and get higher levels and then start killing people 4 real???

  • YAY Teddy >_<

  • really enjoyed your list...but I was suprised to see you missed Robert the Robot from Fireball XL-5 .

  • There's one really cool-looking robot from an unknown Russian SF film, "Tummanost Andromedy" or "Andromeda Nebula." His name is John.

  • You forgot EVOLVER

  • And the borg from Star Trek TNG.

  • What about Marvin from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galxy?

  • Forgot some goood ones: 'The Colossus of New York', 'Gog', the robot in the Outer Limits that gives his 'life' saving a girl from a car, Robert Culp in the Outer Limits, the robots in 'Target Earth'.

  • i dont think the tin man is a robot... hes just a man made of tin

  • I am mega-impressed you included Andy The Android from Quark!

  • Too long

  • Im thinking that you need review what u reckon is a cyborg........ BSG for example..... But a good list none the less

  • Long live Hal

  • does anyone know what the movie was called? Where 2 kids build a robot for their science project and the ghost of their dad takes it over, it's a family film?

  • where the hell is the freaking erkil bot from family matters?

  • What about the Geth?

  • TIN MAN'S NOT A ROBOT!!!......he's a man made of tin.

  • @EAFFAEEAF

    yep

    hes not a robot

i dunno why he is classified in many lists as such

    fuck its annoying

  • no AMEE from "Red Planet"?

  • Applying the term robot kind of loosely.

  • how is WALL-E as low as # 95?????????

  • I think Unicron from the transformers series deserved a shout-out. That was a fucking great robot.

  • @eleuthromania he is s great robot but hoever technicaly there cyborgs as they have a sort of mechanical DNA sort or a roborg lol

  • what no Cybermen,Darleks, and surely Rem from Logans run shoul make the list. Robby no 1!! id vote B9 no 1 any day.

  • @winstonsmi erm dude can u read or u struggleing it says top 100 robots not top 100 cyborgs

  • I see there are always people looking to mention what was omitted. It's top 100 after all, not all robots in movies and tV. Good call on the Holmes and Yoyo deal. I thought I was the only one who remembered that show. Thanks for the list.

  • 1 stupid question,is shin getter robo, mazinkaiser, ideon, and genesic gaogaigar qualified to your list?

  • And, where is Daneel Olivaw? Is the robot who saved humanity from chaos and anarchy.

  • nice countdown but isn't al9000 and colossus computers ?
