Can you imagine if Griffey didn't leave Seattle? I am telling you...that killed him...and he knows it b/c he came back and retired in Seattle. NOTHING BUT LOVE FOR THE KID THOUGH!! He is a true home run hitter that doesn't need to take a needle in the arm!
Sorry, might be ignorant here, but isn't this rapper dead? some stupid east coast vs. west coast dumbass shit? maybe not, but it certainly sounds like it
So many superlatives to say about Junior. Even as a lifelong Ranger fan, I had great appreciation for him. He would have been great in any era. I really wish there could be more players like him. On defense, he was a thief. At the plate, he was a menace. And the best thing about Griffey is that he made it all look so easy. His swing was effortless, and he ran like a deer. I will always remember him as a foundation on which I enjoy the game of baseball.
he could have or should have been the biggest jerk considering his stardom and talent, but he was just one cool dude. ill miss you dearly junior. you were the best raw talent i ever saw. and who can forget the cap backwards
i was at a reds- st louis cardinals game in about 2001-02 sometime (im a cards fan) but i was really there to see junior. ill never forget sitting next to my dad i was screaming KEN GRIFFEY!!!!! HEY JUNIOR!!!!! HEY OVER HERE!!!!!!! like every other annoying yet excited kid at the ballpark. people like jim edmonds and chipper jones ignored me over the years cuz they are cocky, but not Junior. he turned, smiled, and nodded his head what's up. ill never forget how humble he is unlike other pros
@clackamascavs2 Actually...Griffey wasn't on 2001 team (when they got 116 wins)...but the Mariners were great before that too...the 95 season is one of the M's most memorable seasons ever...when Griffey was on the Mariners...they were a great team
How can anyone say he wouldve hit more HR in Seattle in comparison to Cincy? Great American Ballpark is atleast a top 5 HR friendly park. If anything with the same health situation, Griffey wouldve hit less in Seattle.
@iGLoCKeDYoU Alright umm first of all Griffey was a star already when he first joined with Seattle I think most people know that.. And second, in cinci he wasn't as healthy and didn't have as good as a team, playing for cinci pretty much decreased his career stats. And I wouldn't be surprised if he could hit 700+ if he stuck with the M's.
@EARTHAGENT101 just cuz he got injured in cincy doesnt mean anything. I dont think it would of mattered where he was he still woulda of got injured. And you blamin cincy for him not hitting 700 is about the dumbest thing ive ever hear. Im sorry but more reds jersey's of his name on the back were sold than mariners. Which obviously shows more fans appreciated him in Cincy. But i mean thats just my opinion. I do understand where your coming from. I dont like to argue on this stupid thing tho
@iGLoCKeDYoU I'm not saying it was cinci's fault, they have no control over that obviously. I'm just saying that things could have happened differently if he stayed in Seattle.
@EARTHAGENT101 yeah i understand. i just live in Ohio and i guess im a little prejiduce. I grew up watching him in Cincy and he had a big influence on my life.
@EARTHAGENT101 How can you say he wouldve hit more HRs in Seattle than Cincy. Cincy is atleast a top 5 HR friendly park in all of baseball. It isnt Cincies fault he stayed hurt.
@iGLoCKeDYoU really?he was drafted as a mariner, played here for 12 years. he hit 415 home runs for the mariners and only 215 as a red. he was a 10 time all star as a mariner,3 as a red. an MVP. he pretty much built safeco field.
@callofpoopy4 yeah i mean he wanted to go home to play for cincinnatti like his father, but he should have stayed in seattle. imagine if he, a-rod, and randy johnson had never left the mariners. and then throw the arrival of ichiro in, can you spell dynasty?
@DanielFckinH Yeah but i mean you still got to respect the guy.. he still hit 630 dingers and played till he couldn't play anymore, wasn't the smartest decision to go to cinci though.
The best there was and the best there ever will be!!!!!!!!!! Griffey brought "cool" to baseball and made the game look so easy. There is no doubt in my mind he could have eclipsed the 800 home run mark if not for the injuries.

Cripes. The first homerun in this vid. Dang... say what you want about Griffey but that swing is the tits.
I've seen more 'visible' effort from people taking a stroll in the park.
Effortless... and perfect.
