@J3ssM09 Big hp difference between the cars here. There is no doubt the cobra is a bargain for hp and street performance. Cobra was about 35,000, viper was probly under 90,000.
Why can no one do 3 consecutive honks without one or two barely there honks? That second honk on the first race was pathetic. i think that's why you got the jump on race 1.
Both are bad-ass cars. Not really a fair comparison though. Stock vs. Stock which would win? Hell, there are giant turbo'd Civics out there that'd pull on either of those cars. And the viper can be modded to be a monster no doubt as hennessy has proven...but for a minimum the engine has ever had in displacement (8.0L) it really for a stock vehicle does not turn very impressive numbers. the 7.0L Z06 motor makes better power than the old 8.0 and the reason dodge had to go even bigger to the 8.4L to get the edge on the Z06 again. hope they never run into a ZR1. =P

They are just using a viper to benchmark how far they have brough a 4 seater car to beat a 2 seater sports car. when the cobra exceeds the value of the purchase price of that viper I'll be on your side...but for that much money you'll have a 9 second daily driver of a cobra. =)

Sure the cobra needed nitrous, the engine is half the size and the mustang weighs more and seats 4 for less than half the cost of the unreliable dodge. Make up the cost difference by swapping the iron 4.6 for an aluminum 5.4 gt with $2k in bolt ons and trim some pork, you got a race

you al do realize the person driving the viper had no clue what they were doing right? the dodge viper as one of the best accelerations of all cars. I agree with you completely. The camaro and challenger are also poor mans muscle cars. the Vette, AMX, Chevelle, Charger, Torino, GTO, Montego, RoadRunner and 442 are the real muscle cars. technically the camaro, challenger, mustang, and the like aren't muscle. they are pony cars. the down grade from a muscle. I am not mad i am just pointing out facts. As mario andretti said you can have the best car and best racer and still lose the race.

@boushey22 ok you thinking stock there cowboy and acctually the camaro came with a max of the 383 stroker. now obvilously you can put bigger in it but the 69 chevelle came with a 454 max. Corvettes also came with large engine then the camaro. Vettes also had a 454 engine in them. let alone a larger engine compartment for a larger engine. the camaro has less space to place a bigger engine.

Each company has their own engines and didn't borrow engine to place in their cars. why would you put a ford 303 in a chevy car when you can get a chevy 305 and it already have matching mounts to put it in?

@boushey22 i agree the 80's were bad for cars period but seeing as till 82 the cars were 70's models the one i have though an 81 is still a second gen(chevy gen 66-69, gen 2 70-81, gen 3 82-92, gen 4 93-2002, gen 5 2009-present) not as bad as any of the third or fourth gen camaros.
