It is what Marillion are TODAY that I love. I really hated them during the Fish-era, and Steve Hogarth is the great reason to why I finaly discovered Marillion. So much more epic and beatiful 2011 than 1985. I think Hogarth/Marillion is a very happy marriage. This was not, at all...
I am not ashamed to say I was there and I cried. Forget the press rubbish, the guys are not plyaing together, and never will again probably but this shows that old differences have been forgotten. I had a drink with Fish that night after the gig and he was chuffed with it. I hope the Marillo guys got as much out of it, looks like they were enjoying it. Guys that made music that good don't need to be falling out. It means a lot to us all. Great day and an ambition realised.
Saw them at the old Borough Assembly Halls in Aylesbury many years ago. As the Halls were demolished for the building of the Civic Centre, which itself has been demolished, it must have really been long ago.
@merlinbus They never played at the Borough Assembly as Friars had moved to the Civic by the time Fish and Diz joined the band. Check out Bill Frech site for a full gig list. Steve Rothery and Diz Minnitt played together recently as The Granmarstonberries - check out Comfortably Numb (on Youtube)
@vpieper It's very strange because Pete has always been the great friend of Fish, even when Fish and Marillion were both "angry" in the beginning of the 1990's ...
Let's be honest, Marillion have done absolutely nothing worthwhile without Fish..............It would be great if they had carried on with the aborted album tracks that appear on the Clutching At Straws re-issue. There is more or less a completed album of stuff that would have been great. A shame.
I remember Pete walking off the stage in San Francisco during a show. The begining of this video implies that the healing between him and Fish really wasn't done. But of the verisons of this show posted, this one is the best.
Great Post, thanks. I only recently got into Marillion due to a Dream Theater video. They are great and I cannot take sides on the singer issue. I can understand the fans liking the original singer over the new both both are fantastic and the new singer turned me on to the band, thus the old one, fish. Rock On.
Great to see Marillion and Fish together again after so many years. It was a great era. But time go's on. "H" is different and and in my opinion even better. Albums like Brave, Marbles (double), Somewhere els and songs like Easter are real masterpieces.
But never the less it shoot be great to see H and Fish together with Marillion in one concert. But just for one time. Time goes on.
Been with em since msq.You cant compare the two lads. Two differant era's,two differant sounds to Marillion. What i will say is that you will not find a more loyal true fan than the fishheads, freaks, and marillos.Cheers Gents, look forward to this years tours!
Would be just as nice seeing a Fish + H tour, kinda like how the Doobie Brothers pulled off a tour recently with Tommy Johnston and Michael McDonald splitting lead vocal duties... a meshing on the genres.
I'm torn...so great to see them together, but the playing is sloppy, and Fish's upper vocal range has gone the way of the dodo. Would love to see a proper set, under-rehearsed one offs like this usually disappoint.
Nothing like Marillion with Fish!

@vpieper I noticed that too... he also pulled back a lot with the other guys! I think they miss him more than he does them.

I've been a Marillion fan since the beginning, but I like the H era equally as the Fish era. In fact, I think Season's End is my favorite release.

If they want to make some money before they retire and to pay off their houses and depts a REUNION is the only way!!!
They both make ok music. Everybody knows the truth even Marillion and Fish, They have to reunite. Like Faith No More

I agree. This is how it should be. Good to see them put the crap aside and perform together again, even if just for one song.

Fish - saw you & Marillion 19 times in the 80's - none with "h" - come back & give the performance of your life. Miss you.
