  • Funny, my old cat was named Artemis

  • Even if the cat would've just sat there and do nothing, I would have still enjoyed this video immensely just staring at her. She is just an incredibly beautiful cat. Absolutely gorgeous. And the fact that she can do tricks is a neat bonus. Shout out to all cat lovers!!!

  • My cat is smarter, he makes me spin, high five and all that and gives me threat.

  • @BigJalapeno Jajaja. Now THAT is a smart cat! Jajaja.

  • I have cat 95% like ur cat small difference by the way whAat is that kind of cats?

  • @NeverMind2991 She is half Himalayan.

  • Human: "your such a sweetie"

    Cat: "Take that woman"

    Human: "Yeah"

lol nah smart cat all mine does is eat sleep and poop

  • Your cat tries to bite you at the end lol. Cats are such snobs, that's why I'm more of a dog person. Our neighbour has a cat and I thought I found it dead in my backyard. Glass eyes etc, but noticed it was paralysed and must've been a tick bite. The cat survived and since then follows me around. He/She always comes out of nowhere when I pull up to the driveway, sits around the front door or veranda. Real gentle too. Never scratches or bites when you rub his/her stomach. I want a cat like that ;)

  • @UnionKidz You should get a ragdoll. They are considered the tanks of cat breeds, but they're fun and gentle. And if you would like a cat that you can carry around, the ragdoll is perfect. They got that name because they go completely limp when you pick them up. Jaja. Gorgeous cats.

  • Cool cat

  • cute :p lol slow motion spin :p

  • That was the most embarassing spin I've ever seen.

  • Smart cat!

You know I tried teaching tricks to my cat and the ONLY thing he's willing to do is.. the "give me five/high-five" trick and he'd only do that when he wants something from me and only when he's confident that he'd get what he wants after doing the trick. Otherwise.. nahhh... *sighs* haha

  • @dillpretzel

we found that our cat responds very quickly to fresh catnip rather than treats. Try that, maybe it will work...

  • I have a Main coon and she can do all these trick - she is called Gracie

  • woman: spin cat: i wonder if i spun slower would she give me more treats

  • cool shes a very smart cat mine is smart but lazy so hes not much use unless your cold then hes like a hot water bottle LOL!

  • is your cat a main coon or a norweigen forest cat i have a norweigen

  • @soaa55 Athena is part Himalayan

  • @Mirri360 i want to get one can you give me some advice. [not because of the video just because i want one]

  • @soaa55 i like norweigens

  • @kjhuffm thanx :D

  • cute

  • Awww, what a good girl! And very smart too!

  • My cat can now do a trick too. I'm trying to teach him more. You have done a totally amazing job with your cat!!!!!! Please watch my video and leave a suggestion. I want to teach him the high five.

  • my cat knows sit, high five, and he knows how to jump up on a platform when i snap my fingers.

  • what a cute cat x]

  • I guess u have a dog in a cat suit. :D

  • awesome! my cat knows high five, but thats about it XD

  • How Do you get your cat to do all of that? All my cat does when i try to get her to do that is meow.

I mean all I hear is "Meow"

  • Very nice! I've taught my cat how to high-five; now I'm working on getting him to 'speak' and 'stand'.

  • that is one talented pussy

  • lol adorable! my cat can sit. and thats it. nev r rlly tried to train her more xD

  • lol adorable!

  • I'm jealous! My cat, Spaz, only knows his name. I can not teach him a darn thing! He is very stubborn, unlike Athena. Beautiful cat, by the way!

  • Lol @ trying to bite your hand at the end! She is like "no pets, more treats". I am training my cat to do tricks also!

  • lol @ the end trying to bite your hand. cute tricks, I am training my cat also!

  • That's adorable! People underestimate cats, they think that cats are good for nothing. This video is a great example of how smart cats really are.

  • If I say "WantSomeFoodz" really fast, my cat will bolt down the stairs (almost falling) and waits buy his dish haha

  • cats do tricks so slow and lethargic haha way cute stuff

  • that is an awesome cat you have

  • your cat is amazing I can barely get my cat to come when I call and the other cat that lives with us only comes when she hears the bells on her toy ringing. Sure wish there was a cat training video or something out there to teach 'em to stand and stuff.

  • @Chiabride -We pretty much did all this without knowing what we were doing. Athena is very receptive. But I just got the book "Cat Training in 10 Minutes" and we are going even further now. The book has a lot of tips to help get the cat to understand.

  • thanks for telling me about the book

  • i can't find treats that my cat loves enough

  • @drudometkin I have that same problem :(

  • @drudometkin

lol!! Well it doesnt have to be cat treats, did you try with normal food?

  • My cat rolls over, shakes a paw and plays fetch.

  • Great!

    But, can she do this?

    EvxKe0sAAdA

  • my cats are too lazy to do anything

    cool

  • big piece to training cats. FEED THEM EVERYTIME THEY DO SOMETHING RIGHT :D

  • my dog high fives ;)

  • Wow. You trained her well. :)

  • My cat does 3 tricks... but only if she feels like it. Even with the treats, if she's not in the mood there's no way. Lol.

  • CCCCCCCUUUUUTEEE!!! how u teach ur cats? she sooooo smart!!! and she's fat!!! how many times u feed ur cat in one day? with what??

    5 stars!

  • I've just learned my cat the "sit trick".

But I can't really learn him other tricks because he gets too enthousiastic. (because of the treets)

I've tried to start with the "shake" trick, but he always thinks there is some food in my hand.

  • nice, my cats too lazy

  • cuute!

  • My cats know tricks though because I have two I couldn't teach them to sit and lay down like my first one because one would mess with the other. They know commands and a lot of words like: stop, come, up, down, go away, each of their many nicknames, and roll over. XD I would say yours was a Maine Coon like mine but it doesn't have the M or it isn't grey. Is it half?

  • Athena is half Himalayan and half unknown, at least that is what I was told when I got the cat. Many of her siblings were all black. She was unusual, being calico.

  • Well I got mine from a car engine when he was small enough to fit in your hand and just recently someone told me he was a gray Maine coon. You can tell from the M on their head and/or their large size. They get around a meter long.

  • cute kitty cat!

  • Our cats walk along the hand rail above our stairs like a tightrope. They seem to like the balance challenge

  • Cats have relatively big brains compared to their skull. They're able to learn tricks with that capacity, but not willing, if they don't realize what's the use for the tricks. You might need to convince cat more that something good comes out of it. Plus, they're pets with independent nature which also makes it more challenging.

So it's not because they're dumb if they don't learn. They just don't want to be puppets.

  • what were u giving her after every trick

  • Salmon flavoured treats in this video. But the amazing thing is she loves red pepper chunks even more!

  • I guess youre believers in operant conditioning.

lol she bites you to remind you 'im still a cat'.

  • my cat only barely knows come here..

  • mine: Get out!

  • Nice Cat, great tricks! Is she part Maine Coon? Please come see my Murphy do tricks as well!

  • its a dog in disguise!!

  • Nice video. I'm trying to get my cat to learn more tricks. She only knows sit. My friend said that cats don't learn tricks but after seeing this video and some other cat trick videos, I think I could prove her wrong.

  • Lovely cat :-) and he/she knows how to get a tasty treat!

  • I get the feeling the sound was added, after seeing what the cat did..

  • I, I mean Athena, is proud to say you are wrong. Athena knows all these tricks and more. I do them in a random order every morning. She cues on the hand signal.

  • i wish my cat would do tricks but shes so stubborn

  • what a cute fluffy cat. tortoiseshell

  • That's actually a calico sweetie.

  • cool!! watch my cat ricks video too! :D

  • pretty cat!!

  • my cat gives me a high five when i get home :]

  • my cat hugs my leg xD

  • my cat gives hugs too!!

  • lol while i was watching this video my cat who is 3 months old came up to the screen and stared at your cat.....

  • thats a pretty smart cat

  • My cat looks exactly like yours! Only different colored. I don't know what kind of cat mine is though haha.

  • A few weeks, practicing everyday. You have to be very patient. Athena loves it and eagerly awaits trick-time everyday - I do it first thing in the morning and she knows it. If she didn't like the process, it wouldn't happen, that's for sure.

  • Cool. My cat learned how to sit really quickly, within a few days, but she JUST learned how to lay down, which took about three times as long. She always got really frustrated when she didn't understand. I also don't think she likes laying down on command because it means she's being submissive (she's a very independent kitty).

  • That's really cool!

  • Looks Calico. Very beautiful and smart!

  • my grandmothers cat does the high five thing, but thats the only trick I've really seen a cat do! Cute!

  • What breed ? Maine Coon ? Does it fetch ?

  • Half Himalayan, half unknown. She doesn't pick things up in her mouth so I'm at a loss as to how to teach her to fetch. So, the answer is no.

  • looks like its part maine coon

  • Such a cute and clever cat :-)

  • Cool cat!

  • aw your cat is cute, and its very talented (=

  • awesome cat!

  • My kitten of just 3 months can do sit and high five! It's amazing what cats can do, I didn't believe it was possible until I thought I'd give it a shot! Just takes time and really tasty nibbles!!

  • Well that's impressive!!! How did you teach her? I'm trying it with my cat, but she can do only paw.

  • Damn! That's one smart cat!

My cat would never do any of that: she considers tricks to be far beneath her XD

  • very well trained cat good job

  • you guys are nice to the cat and also

    that cat is well-trained! :D

  • Wow, that's such a smart kitty! I taught mine how to stand and beg, but she isn't interested in learning any more (and it takes effort for her to do even that).

I wonder how you taught yours seven tricks? :3

  • What a BEAUTIFUL cat!!! And awesome training :)

  • Told You Guys Cats Can Do Tricks. Awesome Vid. :]

  • Thats cool :-) Wish my cat would do stuff like that but not a chance will that cat do things on demand haha. Nice Job.

  • i have tought my cat tricks, its not easy. Good job! How did you get her to roll over?

  • It is not the easy-ist thing to teach your cat tricks, trust me i have tought my cat Sit, Shake, Stretch, Jump, and down. And its taken FOREVER! How did you do Roll over? I might make i video of my cat doing tricks later.....

  • i love her, she so cute! ^^

  • So cute!

  • Looks like a Norwegian Forest Cat.

  • wow thats awesome i had a cat and tried to teach her but i couldnt but i teach dogs tricks well your cat is awesome

  • That's really cool! Looks to be Norwegian Forest cat in addition to the Himalayan...maybe.

  • Minerva would have been a good name for her as well.

  • what a beauty! pretty smart too!

  • Maine coon?

  • Half Himalayan, half unknown.

  • you've got one good lookin cat there she knows lots of tricks ... pretty cool !!

  • athena is beautiful...

  • Very Nice cat!!

  • wow thats a really cute cat i have one but its really mean i also have three dogs..

  • Cool cat!

  • Omg I want my kitten to learn how to do that.. how do you teach them lol

  • for a minute there I thought she was not a cat, until you pet her n she bit your hand. (unfortunately nothing gets rid of that...)

    However, Very very impressing!

  • the high five was the best :D

  • Wow,your cat is awesome!

  • That was incredible. She sure responded to those seven tricks very well. I think any cats watching this will "meow" with amazement.

  • That was amazing. She understood those tricks very well. I think any cats that watch this are gurranteed to meow with amazement.

  • That's a beautiful cat. Mine only knows sit so far but I'll keep working on it.

  • Aww so cute. ^-^

  • wow!!!! my cat could neva do dat!

  • I train my cat. 1 year. She knows stand, sit, stay, get the thrown treat, and I am working on paw.

  • This cat is awesome. She is so smart.

  • wow what a beautiful cat

  • -wath are you giving her as reward?

-how old has a cat need to be before he could learn tricks?

  • I use Whiskas Temptations a lot. However, she loves red peppers and green beans even more!

Start teaching tricks as early as you can!

  • wow how did you teach her

  • thats amazing ur cat is the best iv eva seen my siamese fetches n sits but nt as clever as urs!!!

  • Do you think teaching these tricks to a 4 yr old cat would work? He's very bright tho.

  • Athena is 5 now and can still learn new tricks. Just don't give up - it takes several days before it looks like she is getting the right idea.

  • Is it possible to teach a cat at 4 years of age?

  • I use to play hide and seek with my cat,Btw good video

  • She's got that look of all cats.

"I only work here for the 401k."

    High Five!

    "Yes boss...."

  • when my cat wants to go outside reaches up and touches the door knob.

  • the name explaines everything great talent.

i taught my cat to sit but i need help on other things like rollover plz plz tell me

  • Here's how I remember teaching rollover: I made the hand movement really large at first. So she had to turn her head back to follow the treat in my hand - rolling over was the result. Once she'd done it for several days I gradually moved my hand into tighter circles. Also probably helped push her over at first but I can't really remember that well.

  • i love dis ! =^.^= lol lmao

  • Thats so cute :D

  • omg how cute!

  • My cats will not do tricks for me, maybe because they're so old..

Getting a Maine Coon kitten next week, gonna try to make him into a genius!!

  • maine coons are huuuuuuuge

  • hah cool do trainin vids so u can teach us plese!

  • She's pretty! You're amazing to deal with all that hair though- wowzers. Our cats have short hair and I always feel like I'm covered in fur. ^___^

  • Haha, "Aww, you're such a sweetie." *BITE* lol.

    What a smart cat. :]

  • haha!

  • Go see my other video - it has more tricks in it! It's the video response above from Mirri360.

  • i so need to teach my cat all this stuff but it will b hard coz he is fat and lazy lol

  • What a gorgeous cat!!

  • wow. any tips on how to train a cat? the only thing my cat can do is sit.

  • Athena is a special cat. She seems to really enjoy the process otherwise I wouldn't be doing it with her. I reward her when she does what I want even accidentally or if I help a bit. After a few days she starts to clue into what is expected. Some tricks are harder than others. Jump was difficult because when the stick was high enough for her to go under it that's what she did! I discouraged that by throwing a towel over the stick for a while then gradually removing it.

  • i tort my cat high fi first it was the easyst becouse there greedy and love trying to snach food shes nows 4 tricks up up(jump on stool) high fi(tuch palm) sit ,and jump threw hoop i was just wondering how you tort ur cat to role over and lie down plz tell me plz plz plz i do a lil profmance at crimbo and stuth and it would be well good if she new some more!!!!!ty

  • my cat can do stand, lay down, rollover and spin

...she's very smart..o__o I have started to train my cat four days ago lol

  • dang its so hard to teach a cat anything there so stubburn and all to themselves

  • is this a maine coon? maine coons dont seem to mind doing tricks, most cat breeds are either too lazy or have other plans haha

  • She's half Himalayan, half who knows? She looks forward to doing the tricks everyday waiting patiently for it.

  • aw! so cute! xD

I'm trying to train my cat Sassy too, right now she can sit, play fetch, and fit herself into EXTREMELY small spaces:NOT KIDDING, THESE SPACES ARE SO SMALL YOU WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT!

  • Cats are so so so hard to teach tricks to because there so stubborn.

  • wow how'd she do that; still can't get my cat to come when called

  • holy macadamia nuts how did you train her to do that

  • ahhh, I loved the high five! :D

  • Wow, what a smart kitty, and aptly named, I was actually thinking of naming a future girl cat (should I ever adopt one), Athena, more after Athena Asamiya from King of Fighters.
