I've been following these. Had a hard time making a comment. I was there opening night and many nights there after.. Everytime I start to write the tears become to much.. ........ Rain.....
It was and will always be the best memories of my life.. All the loves and friends that were there with me.. Could it be magic?
Thank you all... Thank you for keeping this for history.. Touch Me in the Morning..
As a surviving member of the Saint, I often think back of the great and magical times I had on the dance floor under dome with friends and dance buddies who are no longer here. It was truly an amazing time in my life I will always cherish and miss.
Wow! excellent vid and series!I was such a religious Saint Boy! every time all i wanted was to hear Jimmy Ruffin "Hold onto my Love". I still have Saint posters!
I miss the "sleaze." And, from high up above, just watching everyone dance far below. Will never forget my experiences there. It was definitely a privilege and I'm grateful for it. Even saved a pack of matches with The Saint logo on it. Thanks for posting.
While I was in college going to The Saint was always my reward for finishing my homework/projects by Friday- only The Saint could have gotten me through it.
The privilege of having experienced "The Saint" is the "crown jewel" of all my collective memories of my gay life in my early 30's in New York in the 1980's. And, now in my 50's, when I see friends from those days, we always know- consciously or subconsiously- that we were VERY blessed to have been able to have had The Saint as our playground. And, unless you were able to experience The Saint, you'll never fully understand that it wasn't just a club or a disco, but, a lifestyle unto itself.
Bless you for posting this series! There never was and likely will never be an experience like The Saint. I "froze" many times at The Saint, there was always a surprise around the "corner" and everyone, I mean everyone was decent to each other.
...with the artistry and magic that we were witnessing and experiencing. I believe we then broke out into applause and even joyful laughter at the puzzle that had confused us. The Saint was a spiritual temple, in which we all danced with each other, smiled and flirted with each other simply as a way of saying hello to a fellow traveler on the magic carpet. We were beyond impressed, and a New York crowd is not easily impressed.
Yes, there WAS that gasp when the stars were shone on the dome after a moment of darkness, and then after moments of the stars being stationary, they slowly began to rotate, and we all looked at each other in amazed puzzlement, because we couldn't tell if the stars were turning, or the floor was rotating. In silence, we all knew we were sharing the puzzlement, trying to figure out the same question, and then we realized it was the stars turning, and were overwhelmed and impressed...
All I can say is WOW! I'd love to have been there, and what a way to open with Donna Summer,"Could It Be Magic!" Thanks for sharing your memories with everyone.
I used to fly from San Juan with a whole bunch of great friends, now all gone due to the crisis that was just starting then. I remember this night..! I was just 19 with a fake id hoping to get in and I DID...! Met Robbie Leslie that night and spend hours dancing and in awe at what I was experiencing..! Words can't describe but this gives you and idea of what it was to be under The Sain'ts Dome where the spirit of dancing STILL lives in my memory...! THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this..!
Thanks for the memories guys... Robbie and Michael have told me that story over the years and it still gives me goosebumps... So glad I was lucky to have experienced the club for the 2 years I lived in N.Y.C.

Don't you love moments in life that make you gasp! They are far and few between for most of us mere mortals.
