1 ton of CO2 a day is NOTHING. In a year, that gets rid of the CO2 of only 20 people, assuming his 18 tons/yr number is correct.

It also doesn't count the amount of CO2 generated making power to run the damned thing.

So the NET CO2 scrubbed is LESS than 1 ton/day.

1 ton of CO2 is generated by a mere 650 lbs of gas, roughly 100 gallons. That's NOTHING.

PS - I'm a chemical engineer. I know a lot more about this than Beck

Also just to let becky know - it was Al Gore who offered 25 million dollars for the invention of a machine that could remove significant amounts of carbon. Also - at current estimate costs one of these scrubbers will be 200,000 dollars. So to remove 18 tons of carbon at current claims would still be 10k per person at least. For half that amount you could install small windmills that could power everyones homes - and create the infrastructure for electric vehicles.

Carbon scrubbers aren't anything new - their most common use is odor removemal (particularly popular for those growing marijuana at home) I wouldn't be surprised if the physicist from columbia was over exaggerating a lot to get investors to give him money.

Oh,an d a comment to the poster: Glenn Beck specifically said that this scrubber technology is different from the scrubbers in industrial smoke stacks. They don't prevent C02 from getting into the outside air, it actually draws it out of the air. I saw an image of one, and it stands alone in the open.

Do you realize that CO2 is only comprised of carbon and oxygen, and that water - H2O - is comprised of hydrogen and oxygen. That plants need copious ammounts of hydrogen, and that they get it from water. I don't care how much CO2 you have, you can't just magically get the Hydrogen that water provides plants.
