@spikem59, port forwarding is when you open a port on your router. Think of it as a brick wall without cement. When you take a brick out of the wall, you let things get in through that hole or port. To port forward on a netgear router, just type in 192.168.1.1, type in your username and pass code, usually admin is the username, and password is the password. Go to port triggering/port forwarding. Select add custom service, type what you want on the first line, perferply Garry's mod, or the name

@Spikem59 yes, you have to port foward the ports of Gmod(27015) on your internet router, if you dont do that, you cant make a sucessful server, there is noway for there ip to connect to yours unless you port foward, i hope this helped

@Spikem59 you didn't forward your ports. /watch?v=Kp-R-eHiQco he shows you how. Remember, if you havent set a password for your connection, type in admin as your username, and admin as your password. You must connect with the steam server. The port is 27015, and set it to both. Name the port forward garrysmod1 or something. DM if you got any questions man!

@mrPcgeekify What they really need is for a simple way to just hit "Create Private Server" and it automatically lets you spawn everything, with no settings options, with Noclip enabled. That way someone and a friend can just do that, and have fun with the DLs they want, not having to join a server, with only the DLs that that server has

You need to first forward your ports. Second launch game. Third click start new game. Forth on that start new game menu says "Start Mutliplayer" and next to that is "Start Singleplayer". Fifth is to click "Start Multiplayer" Please liek this comment so new people can see.

@MegaSuperCritic Macs, 360's, COD, and PS3 release and never update or fix. Microsoft Windows is always coming out with new coding and programming that your computer/network/router can't always reconize. You must have steam's format in order to make this work, that is why things are so difficult.

@MegaSuperCritic Steam will be steam, Mac will be mac. It is about twice as hard on mac as it is on PC but you can do it on both. You just need to forward your ports wich is the whole 7 minutes of work, then all the rest this guy did practiclly for you.

@N64guys Go to options, keyboard/mouse, advanced, then check of "Developer Console". Once you do so, you should be able to hit squigley ~ and it will open. If this does not work, make a shortcut on your desktop, right click it, properties, find target, then add -dev -devmode - con - console at the end after the parenthasis.
