  • Stop being silly & read the highway code. Your on the road like everyone else, stop going through red lights and that's just the start!

  • I used this road in the summer when the dark nights didn't stop me as the hill is unlit(?) and always moved out into the carriageway when I got to the hill as I'd roll down it at 30+ and ALWAYS had to stop at the lights at the bottom. I never got through them without stopping.

  • classic example of a cycle and motorists shout at us for not using them :L

  • I prefer to cycle agressively and in the centre of the road when possible, so the conditions of the side of the road don't affect me as much

  • @adambaker706

Me too - but you can't do that during term time.

It will soon be time for my annual inspection ....

  • Where are the comfy chairs, and someone to brikg you a cuppa. get real

  • bristol's road's are crap and we pay more tax than ever! mind you that snow and cold weather cracked most of the roads i use!

  • @bunsofsteeeel

I've given up reporting potholes. As a cyclist I'm good at avoiding them and hopefully they work as traffic calming.

  • @yangtse55

i drive a van and normally performance cars just get good at dodging potholes and cyclists lol

  • catch the bus then

  • @bunsofsteeeel

    hilarious.

What I did instead was start taking the longer "country" route home via Frenchay - win-win - apart from the packs of dogs people walk in Oldbury Court ("Vassals park") and which sometimes go for my legs - mind you a lot of owners have driven them there in 4x4s, so maybe it's deliberate.

  • Good spot, lol.

  • South Gloucestershire's the greater of the two evils. though, Bristol as a cycling city is laughable!

  • South Glos have just messed up my new route on the old Filton road - put in a speed hump right before an entrance - it's on a downward slope where I'm usually doing 20-plus MPH and want to be in the middle of the road - for visibility and to dodge potholes and debris ... they seem to see cyclists as timid creatures whose place is crawling along in the gutter.

I was followed over said hump by a jeep the other day that pretty well ignored it.

  • Aint in Bristol. Is in South Gloucestershire. Get them to fix it.

  • If you watch the video again you will see that it spans the two councils. And there is now an indelible line with obviously hand-painted road markings on Bristol's side.

Have you seen the "mud" video about the part of the job that specifically belongs to South Glos ?

Rest assured I have had councillors from both councils, plus the council officers all arguing about whose job it is ;)
