A fully loaded (and this one has a LOT of ordnance hanging under the wings) fully fueled A-10 has little reserve power but this was still a deliberate "buzz job". When we first got these in my D-M squadron in ?76/77?, no one wanted the assignment. Everyone wanted to kill Russkies in F-15/16 dogfights plus original weak engines couldn't fly on only one. With aircraft improvements and realization in desert wars this was the only aircraft actually killing people you saw, everyone wanted the seat.

@fritzkatz True that Hog looks like it does have a fair bit of ordnance, but still room for a bit more. I was at Davis Monthan more than 15 years later thah you., Vvid was shot at Bagram and it looks like he was keeping ground effect. No way to tell the temperature on the tarmac but there isn't a lot of heat haze which makes me think it wasn't too hot. Later models, especially the 10C fixed all the power shortcomings but I was long gone by then.

you can tell from the minimal nose high attitude, that the pilot saw this guy and fancied a laugh. If he was trying to gain height, the nose would be at least 15 degrees nose high, this looks like it's barely 5, so he was obv. having a laugh :P
