1) The Tasmanian Tiger is not a tiger. It is not even related to tigers. It is a marsupial (like the Kangaroo). So putting a tiger in there wouldn't have helped. You can't cross-breed different species.
2) Cross-bred species are sterile. So this idea wouldn't have worked.
2) This happened in Austraila, --not-- America. Tasmanian tigers lived in Tasmania, Australian Island

thats one of the saddest things ive seen in my life. it was in that chicken wire enclosure and playing (or attacking?) that person just like any other sentient animal would, unaware of its status as the last of its kind. although i do have hope that some of the numerous sightings in the past few years are real.

In Europe it was not completely prohibited until 2001 -- 15 years later. If Europeans care about nature that is good because there is not much nature left in Europe after thousands of years of civilisation.

i've looked over most of the comments and they all say "just clone the animal allredy! we all ready cloned a sheep why not a tazzy tiger??" well, the main reason why we cant do so is that the DNA samples are too broken up and cant create a full tazzy tiger. When an animal is extinct. It's extinct! It's never coming back. Gone for good.
Scientists can try to recreate a creature that looks like it through selective breeding, but it will never be a true form of that animal.
All we can do is spend the time and money protecting the animals we still have today.

At least now they are using money on more sensible things like helping to save the Tasmanian Devil from extiction by trying to invent a cure for it's cancer. They said recently that in a few mounths they will release a cure that they think they are well on the way to. I do wish they can release it soon. I don't want the Tasmanian Devil extinct in my lifetime.

thats one of the saddest things ive seen in my life. it was in that chicken wire enclosure and playing (or attacking?) that person just like any other sentient animal would, unaware of its status as the last of its kind. although i do have hope that some of the numerous sightings in the past few years are real.
