  • So beautiful! I love the texture of your hair, it looks like pretty stretched out coils to me.

    Thanks for sharing :)

  • Oh my goodness! Your hair is absolutely exquisite! I just loved seeing your clay application. After the rinse, I nearly fell out of my chair here because your hair looks so divine! Thanks so much for sharing with all of us. ~~Peace, health, and continual blessings.....

  • @surrected4526

    LOL, thanks!

  • ARE YOU GHANIAN????

    I LOOVVEE YOUR HAIR.

  • @0oMelloadeeo0 Thanks! I'm Sierra Leonean. ;)

  • wow! your hair's so cool. beautiful :)

  • Is your current hair length the same as when you were a child?

  • @OLeenev

No, my hair was much shorter as a child.

  • Gal you got some HAIR on you! So thick and long...hair porn!

  • your hair is amazing.

  • What kind of shampoo do you use with the baking soda? Do you use a mild shampoo with the baking soda?

  • how does it make ur hair feel after?

  • @leienabeth630

It feels smoother & a little softer.

  • I would like to know what did you do to get your hair this long and healthy. It is so pretty.

  • My hair is very similar to yours. have you every had a problem with tangling. I have this problem and mines is almost bra strap length.I do not bother combing it, i use my fingers cause combs pull it out, even wide tooth combs. Also could you recommend a thick conditioner. My hair loves thick conditioners. Your hair is pretty by the way. I should be close to your length by next spring. To God be the glory.

  • @mspinkytee

My hair tangles very easily also so I definitely understand. I have been using Pomsmooth Conditioner by Juice Organics & it works well & is pretty thick. Hope it works for you as well. :-)

  • i decided to make a batch today for me and extra for my daughter tomorrow. i forgot i had to use small amounts of the clay and started out with about a cup of clay. I went from mixing with spoon to putting it in my stand mixer. I put it in my hair with clumps and all but didn't have problems getting it to blend so I finished. The stuff seemed to keep growing and growing. LOL I put in a plastic container and set it in the fridge. I hope that doesn't make it worse. Rookie error.

  • luv ur hair!

  • @summerjewel63

    Thanks! :-)

  • I love you hair texture, ive never seen hair that thick, its so cool ^_^

  • do you shampoo your hair before using the clay? nice hair!!

  • @gueritamar

    No I dont.

  • Your hair is jawdroppingly beautiful.

  • @KumakoXsd Thank you. :)

  • omg ive never seen so much hair on one person...its beautiful!!!

  • your hair amazing

  • See, I always thought that black people didn't actually have "Kinky" hair, that was just a shape people came up with for lack of understanding, and that they were actually just really small corkscrew curls, but WOW those were some kinks! Your hair is gorgeous! I've never seen hair like yours before!

  • Amazing hair. just had my big chop and hair like your totally inspires me.

  • you hair is so beautiful sis wow

  • Hi baby sister,

I come from Ivory coast next to your country!!! but I've been living in France for more than 10 years now! I'm relaxed and intend to remain so but your advice are very useful, for any type of hair actually! And your example inspired me a lot for my beginning hair journey... How do you do the baking soda treatment?Has bentonite clay the same effect? Which one do you prefer? And how often do you do those treatments?

Thak you for all that you are sharing and take care! kiss sista

  • @adegirly

Hi there neighbor ;) I only do bentonite treatments - I am not too sure on baking soda treatments because I am a little weary of mixing ready-made or commercial conditioners with ingredients like baking soda that are "foreign" to the product because of chemical reactions that could take place.... Hope that helps. ;)

  • @Sera2544

I do, however, mix baking soda with diluted shampoo for clarifying purposes since shampoos have base & acid components & the baking soda amount used is fairly small compared to what is used in baking soda conditioner treatments.

  • I would just like to say your hair is absolutley beautiful!!!!

  • girl, your hair is magnificent!!! how have you been??

  • @shatani

Thanks, I've been doing great, just busy; hope you have been doing well. :)

  • How long have you been growing your hair? It is so long.

  • Your hair is absolutely beautiful.

  • Does this help those loosing hair ?

  • @SalvvOrtiz

It loosens slightly (depending on your texture), but it does so temporarily (for me sometimes until my next wash [depends on products used during that time, for instance curl enhancing products help tighten coils sooner]). HTH

  • I just wanted to let you know I love your Videos. They are so helpful. Please take a look at my Channel it is: akiyiakelly

And you can also Visit my Website it is: akiyia.webs.com

    Take Care & Be Blessed!

  • @AKIYIAKELLY

Thanks; I'll be sure to check out your channel.

  • All i can say is wow! This video has been a tremendous help and inspiration. as for drrober - who truly cares? Sera's method works - obviously. Give her some props.

I just tried this method, and have never experienced or seen my hair this soft, and healthy. For Clarifying, i used Mizani chelating shampoo, and other "clarifying shampoos".. which had a long list of chemicals, and left my hair hard.

I used this on my hair journy only once. and cannot thank you enough for sharing.

  • @femmemuscle

Glad to know it works just as well for you. I always have soft hair after doing this clay treatment, but unfortunately it only lasts for a couple of days but I think the extremely hot & dry weather where I live has a role to play in how long the softness lasts. 8)

  • is it ok to use it on relaxed hair.?

  • @whatoyou

I think it should be OK to use on relaxed hair provided the mixture isn't made too thick to the point where it weighs down the hair too much causing the strands to snap or break. I haven't tried it on relaxed hair though & everybody's hair is different so...but feel free to try it out - do a test patch or something.

  • whoa that looks like the marley hair u can get at the hair stores love it gorgeous hair♥

  • im transitioning and wanted to know if this process can replay shampoo my hair, to clean and get rid of build up?

  • @hunniebeetwnmylegz83

I think using it in place of a clarifying shampoo 3 months or as needed should be ok; but you would have to play with the concentration of the clay if you have a lot of build up.HTH: )

  • what hair type is that...its pretty nice, havent seen that before

  • =O Do you ever use the clay for a facial mask?

  • @SunshineAndCrayons

Yes from time to time I do use it as a facial mask.

  • Hi!!! Just a little tip. My bentonite clay container instructed that one should use non-metal utensils to mix the clay with water.

  • @drroberson4

Hi there, I understand that bentonite clay is not to be mixed with metal utensils - it says so on my container as well. However, in the video you can see I use non metal utensils with the exception being the blades on the smoothie a.k.a "stick blender" I was using.

  • @drroberson4

I see nothing wrong with using the stick blender EVEN though the blades are metal because the blades are very small AND the amount of bentonite clay being mixed out weighs the effects of those tiny metal blades on the overall charge (a.k.a the healing properties) of the clay.

  • @drroberson4

I love blending my clay this way & have noticed no difference in comparison to other blending options. I ONLY INFORM others of my techniques used, BUT it is ALWAYS up to the INDIVIDUAL as to what they CHOOSE to do. :)

  • @Sera2544 Hello!! Ok...cool. I was simply "informing" you and not trying to "tell" you what to do. Since you already know what is recommended and choose to do otherwise (b/c you have noticed no difference in the quality) that is cool and your choice to do so. :)

  • yeah represent for the african girls!!!

  • Wow! your hair is beautiful! I can't wait until my hair grows that long!

  • love your hair...you remind me of a beautiul baby doll my auntie gave me when I was a little girl..lol

  • i luv ur hair!!! the texture, the length everything!!!

  • How often do you wash your hair? And do you use a leave in conditioner after you shampoo.

  • How often do you wash your hair? And do you use a leave in conditioner.

  • I love your hair! Its so long and thick. Your videos are an inspiration to me. I have the same hair texture as you do. I'm currently transitioning to natural hair after having relaxed hair for most of my life. Seeing your videos makes me realize that it's possible for black women to have long hair. Hopefully my hair will grow that long after five years.

  • Mmmm...now, THAT'S what I call natural hair! :-)

    Must try that clay-thingy:-)

  • OMG your hair is beautiful.

  • how long has your journey been?

  • Your hair is gorgeous!

  • Stunningly beautiful hair!

  • wow i know it takes u a longg ass time to do that hair i just cutt all the perm out my shitt now im over here cryin WOW this is hard what have u been useing the past few years

  • now this is what you call a head full of hurrrrr...very pretty!

  • long pretty 4b hair~ you go gurl!

  • beautiful hair

  • What beautiful hair you have!

When mine gets that length, it will probably look similar. What a goal to look forward to!

I have a question...why do you need to to did treatment with the clay periodically? Isn't it drying?

  • I do the clay treatment to clarify/remove product buildup from my hair from time to time (when I feel it's needed). I deep condition afterwards so there is no drying effect, at least not anything out of the ordinary (in reference to normal wash days). The clay is also used to clarify/remove product buildup & toxins from the scalp, since bentonite clay pulls & traps bacteria, etc. HTH

  • Thank you. I appreciate your answer. I don't think I have product buildup, since I'm using all natural shampoo and ointments to oil my hair. I also use natural conditioner and flax seed hair gel.

Do you think that makes a difference?

  • GOD! SOOOOO BEAUTIFUL. so unique, i love it!

  • YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS.

Write a book about your journey!!!!

  • how long did it take for ur hair to get that lovely and long. my hair is naural 2 n its like erm past shoulder length i would love like bra strap length : ) thanx

Check out my feature vid on my page as an example of what I am talkin about hat was done for october.... Wow Again... and yep I'm subbin' ;)

  • you have such beautiful hair but what does this detox do for you? I never even heard of it but i'm willing to give it a chance if I know what it suppose to do :)

  • It cleanses & detoxifies the scalp of impurities & it also acts as s clarifier for your hairstrands. It seems to helps loosen coil pattern temporarily as well, therefore making detangling a little easier, at least it does for me anyways. HTH

  • thank you :)

  • have you tried doing this with apple cider vinegar??? ive been doing that for abour 2 years and my hair feels even better than using water....

  • I use bentonite with ACV for my facial, but never got around to trying it on my hair...it has crossed my mind though, so I'll probably give it a try next time.

  • ...correction: I use water along with the ACV for my facial.

  • oh okay cool...yeah so do i i use acv with the bentonite for facial and hair...if you try it let me know how it goes for you...

  • Sera, for how many years have you been clarifying with the clay?

  • ~1.5 yrs

  • I loVE yoUR haiR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • interesting, I can see why u got a head full of hair by detoxing, wow. By the way your skin is beautiful too what's the secret? keep up the work sister

  • Beautiful. Thanks for sharing! Sera, could you please tape your next trim for us? I'd love to see a trim tutorial as that's pretty much the one aspect of my haircare that I still feel I need to visit a stylist for. many thanks in advance ;-)

  • Sera, how does it affect your tub drain, does it run freely or make it clog?

    Thanks

  • It actually runs free as the rinsing process dilutes the clay further & by the time I get through rinsing, am sure most of it has cleared the drain. So it doesn't have time to harden & even if it did, running some water through would eventually loosen it up.

  • Thanks for the reply; I feared for my drain!. I bought HARTZ unscented kitty litter. I'll grind it to a fine powder and try it.

  • MY GOODNESS YOU HAVE THE LONGEST NATURAL LOOSE HAIR I've SEEN EVER. yOUR HAIR HAS ALWAYS BEEN LONG CORECT?

  • I know Sera will answer you later but saw your comment. Check out Sera's video called OVER THE PAST FIVE YEARS. She shows her hair from TWA to her crown and glory right now.

  • This is the longest my hair has ever been. Before I went natural, it never got more than a few inches past my shoulders. But to answer your question, no I have not always had long hair. :)

  • watch her 5 year video ;-) she started with a BC!! i think it's incredible... :-)

  • Are you still using the Bentonite Clay???

  • Yes...why???

  • I have been debating trying the clay. I just wanted to know if it was something that was apart of your routine.

  • Ok...I thought you had tried it & had problems with it. This is part of my routine. I do it in place of baking soda in shampoo every 2-3 months or so. I actually prefer it to baking soda in shampoo, but it weighs down my hair quite a bit....

  • wow...i am SOO aiming to have hair like this

  • Sera-girl!!!... GOD!!! You have THE COOLEST hair I have ever seen! It is awesome. Thanks for your videos!

  • I love your hair! Just beautiful!

  • Beautiful hair girl hope you keep posting your vids

  • Thank you!!! I plan to keep the videos coming, it's just been a bit busy for me of late...but I hope to get more videos up soon.

  • Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous hair. You go girl!!! Your vid is a true inspiration! Keep it up.

  • I have been meaning to try this for a few months...you have motivated me to go a head and DO IT! Beautiful hair as always!

  • Give it a try, you & your hair might like it. Let me know what you think when you try it.

  • where do you get your bentonite from and is there a certain type I should get?

  • I buy mine from Sprouts, the Aztec Bentonite

  • Is that Aztec Secrets? Is is safe to use once a month?

  • Yes it is, but I put some in an old ziplock container to make it easy to pour out for the video...I should have put a pic of it at the end, but now that I think of it, I'll put it up in my fotki album.

As far as using every month, it's more like a clarifier, so if you are heavy handed with products then it might be okay to use every month. It all depends on what your hair likes. In my experience, it seems mild enough for possible monthly use, but it all depends.... I use it every 2-3 months.

  • Thank you. Doesn't seem to expensive. Can't wait to try it on both hair and skin. I might just smother it on my entire body. Just to clean out all pores. Is this better than adding baking soda to shampoo?

  • To me it seems a little milder than adding baking soda to shampoo, but I think it also depends on how harsh a shampoo you are using; i.e. sulfate vs. non-sulfate. But I think there's more noticeable effects with bentonite (looser texture [temporary] & in my experience, ease of detangling).

It is definitely great as an all over body mask! Give it a try & I hope it works out well for you. :-)

  • Just wanted to add that baking soda with sulfate shampoos would probably be too drying & would be a very strong clarifier. So if you do give it a try sometime (in place of bentonite), then I think a mild shampoo is best to use with the baking soda method.

  • 4:51 ah, i love your hair! =)

i tried bentonite clay once on my hair... but now i can't remember if i liked it or not! you've inspired me to try it again...

  • Aww, thanks ladylibra!! :-)

  • omg i want my hair this length..

  • I know right! She is like my hair idol...and I follow her fotki religiously...lol!

  • OMG...Thanks again. I have been using Aztec bentonite clay for years as a facial mask. I didn't know it could also be used on hair. I will try it next weekend when I wash my hair again.

  • i use aztec on my hair and face. it leaves your hair so soft and manageable.

  • Wow! Lovely hair!

  • bought a HUGE bag of clay on ebay -- i left 3 tbs of clay in 1cup of water for 30min, then checked the hydration before adding more water/clay.. love your hair as always!

  • Thanks Lina!!

  • beautiful head of hair.

  • your hair is so gorgeous. I love the texture, it looks so healthy and springy!

  • Great vid and love your luscious hair! I'm a yr and 1 month post relaxer (just stretching), but you beautiful healthy naturals are inspiring me to do a lengthy transition. Currently I'm mid back length so I have a long way to go to be completely natural. Maybe if I trim once a month it will happen sooner without the shock of losing my current length.

  • I don't know if there are words to describe how much I love your hair. I'm growing mine out starting NOW!

  • Great!!! And thanks!!! :)

  • I HAVE to tell my subcribers about you. Other than Rustic Beauty, I've yet to see any other naturals on Youtube with 4b/4c afto textured natural hair that has grown waist length so well.

A few people have horrendous ends because they have not trimmed and the hair looks fragile.

When my hair grows that long I want it thick healthy and lusicous like yours.

Thank you so much for sharing your secrets!!! Much love for your channel!!

  • Thanks!!!!! :)

I've checked out Rustic's vids & her hair is gorgeous!!

  • @ 4:50 When you come back, ahh you look so gorgeous! Your hair is so awesome and beautiful!

  • Aww thank you much!! :)

  • Nice vid!!

  • your hair looks so defined n healthy...i love it...thank you for sharing

  • You welcome & thanks for checking out my videos! :)

  • interesting. i will certainly add it to my list of products to sample. your hair doesn't shrink much.

  • Hope you like it if you give it a try.

...for waistlength I think that's a lot of shrinkage for my hair. If I let it dry it would shrink even more than what you see in the video.

  • Great vid..thanks! ur hair looks great. I would try it on my face too

  • You have really beautiful hair. I am jealous!

  • I've done this treatment before and liked the results. I was wondering if you could do a video with advice about growing ur hair like you have. I would like to attain length and am currently trying to reform my PJ habits and addictions! lol What else could you recommend? R U a PJ?

  • goodness your hair is gorgeous. the texture, everything about it

  • Thanks!! :)

  • You have such beautiful hair, I want it :) You take such good care of it and it`s so healthy!

  • Hi Sera! From your experience do you think periodic bentonite clay treatments keeps the scalp pores unclogged and will help promote less inhibited hair growth?

  • Hi!

Yes I think it helps. From my understanding bentonite attracts positive charged particles since it is negatively charged.

By doing so, it is capable of extracting toxins, grimmy oily residues (since they tend to be positively charged), including bacteria responsible for acne, etc.

So yes I do believe with time it will help unclog pores/remove grimmy buildup, provided it is used within reason.

Unclogged pores = one less factor hiddering your growth rate

    Hope that helps!

  • Great video, your hair looks awesome. I did a bentonite clay treatment on my hair a few months ago. I used Aztec Healing Mask (found it at Vitamin Shoppe) and apple cider vinegar. Left it in my hair for about 1-1/2 hours. My hair came out so soft afterwards. It's really a great hair mask. (Great facial mask also).

  • Thanks!! Didn't know Vitamin Shoppe carried it - good to know.

...It does make your hair soft ( I love it).

I just use it with water for my hair, but ACV will also give more clarifying boost I guess.

I use bentonite with ACV for my facial mask only (to help with break-outs) & most of the time I add some water along with the ACV. I love bentonite!!

  • Thanks so much ... was eyeing my clay just yesterday. I must try this. Thanks for sharing. Blessings

  • I'm going to try tis clay treatment soon. Thank you for the post

  • I've been considering the bentonite clay I've heard so much about it.

  • You should give it a try; I tried the thick application the 1st time I ever did this treatment & it was extremely heavy so I decided on doing a light paste-like application, so far so good.

  • Thanks so much for posting this!

  • You are welcome! :)

  • Your hair is just gorgeous!!! One day God willing I will have that length *lol*

    Great video!

  • You will by the Grace of God, just keep taking care of your hair & in time you'll see the results! ;)

  • You hair is so thick and beautiful. One question: How does your hair feels after this application?

  • It feels kind of slippery smooth (at least that's the best way I can describe it). In my opinion it's not too drying & it feels a lot better than using baking soda & shampoo mix for clarifying, but I usually take the baking soda & shampoo mix over Bentonite Treatment because less time is involved (prep wise) & it's a whole lot lighter!! (lol)
