@ashleypope100 If you're not much exposed to this type of music, you should check out Michael Nyman, especially "The Heart Asks Pleasure First". It'll seriously change your life.
@TheGauti007 I'm not sure if it's possible to get an exact transcription (unless someone were to custom make it), as he seems to be improvising quite a bit. It is more of a jazz piece anyways.
@maddvillainn i agree with you man, i bet some of these "popular" artists don't even know where the sample for their songs came from. to be honest, I rap, but my influences aren't all rappers. the good music pieces are the ones that can be felt deep inside you know wut wut I mean? this song has so little views because of that, people are not interested in feelin music, they're more into tendencies. cant be friends is from las year, I think, and it already has 20million views. ain't that sumshit

What is it about certain pieces of music that just slice right into your heart? Resonance? It's so amazing... Although this piece has that effect on me, it might leave others cold. Would trey song legally had to have gotten the original composers permission in order to sample bibonoaozora??? If so, then mr. sakamoto is fully aware of it and must be appreciative to some degree that another artist would sample him. Then again, i also believe that mr sakamoto realizes that so called trey songz is just a business man, not so much a 'musician' hahaha
Sakamoto knows about Trey Songz "Can't Be Friends" and I am sure is getting paid for it. Sakamoto has worked with all genres of music and I am sure that he is open to letting other people sample him as long as they get permission.
Mario Winans produced the song for Trey Songz. Trey may not even know it is a sample.
@worldinside Actually I think he just doesnt care. Sakamoto has done plenty of incredible movies, some of which are only incredible because of his music. So if some guy uses it with permission or totally rips it off, I think Sakamoto would just be honored.
@worldinside Damn... Trey Songs is stupid, for an artist, then... You sure you know all this? I don't doubt that the sample is paid for. It's common for a major label to by a sample out... Otherwise Kanye owe alot of money...

When I first heard Trey songz “can't be friends", It was an immediate facepalm.. Maybe I’m selfish but I believe, unless it’s presented in the way in which it was intended, a masterpiece as such should not be used by the mainstreamed; they should be left un-touched by these so-called "artist" who don’t deserve the right to even listen to them much less use them..
@YouLaToya This reminded me of the time that "Adagio for Strings" got an electronic remix, and then DJ Tiesto did a remix of the remix of the remix and made it a thumping trance anthem. Bleh
@YouLaToya people sample music all the time and just because they're not in the same genre of music doesnt mean they should be put down by you and told they dont deserve to listen......
@jdcool038 JUST because "people sample music all the time", does not make the practice right.. Its one thing to be inspired by something but another to use it use it as your own and still call yourself an artist... Where's the orirginality?! What the majority of these "artist" do in regards to sampling masterpieces is the equivalent to shitting on a Picasso & calling it "a new piece". All you did was add your shit to it: that by no means makes it new or your own..

@YouLaToya You're right my friend. Just imagine how much it takes to write a very sensible score and watch others use it to do their own thing with it. Sakamoto, however agreed to some measure to sampling/copying....maybe in his young years...
Anyway, You're welcome to visit the scorched heart sessions, though.
@jdcool038 Just look at it from a composers point of view man. If you work your ass off trying to get the perfect melody out of your mind and putting it on paper and then performing it perfectly the way you want it to sound, Then you get some lame ass R&B artist (Trey Songz) That really cant even sing that well and some producer taking your hard earned masterpiece in a matter of seconds making it into something far less greater than what it was. You would be HIGHLY PISSED.
This song rocks!! When I heard it in Babel I was like "Wow this song is so great" Songs like this make you think about life and other deeper things in life. This is what I call real music because it can really touch you. That's why Babel had to use this song. Really great song!!
@rakstarr this song touched me about 2-3 years ago when I saw Babel for the first time...I have my 15 year old daughter listening to it...It makes u feel sad even if u have nothing to feel sad about.
This is the most beautiful song i've ever heard. It makes me cry. But it also makes me think of all the good things in this world. And i think that's what he want's to do with his music.
Wow. You can hear, feel and see the pain in this song. Simply magnificent! Look at the pain on Mr. Sakamoto's face as he performs this masterpiece. Gotta place this as one of my favorites. Thumbs way up. I'm really feeling as I've been going through some really rough times. How wonderful that Trey Songz sampled this beautiful composition for his latest song "Can't be friends'' which I absolutely love as well.
as everyone may know, Mr. Sakamoto is currently having his North American tour and I was just wondering, does he usually play this piece at every single one of his concerts? 'Cause the main reason I would go is to have a chance to actually experience this lovely, lovely piece live, a piece that no words could ever describe.
......lascia che il tempo accarezzi i tuoi pensieri,ed attraverso l'ascolto di tale armonia ritroverai il senso del tuo percorso.....non perderti del tutto e conserva sempre un minuscolo spazio per un ritorno....
This bastard always makes me cry...my girlfriend is always accusing me of being a cold hearted idiot who has no emotions, if she saw me now, crying listening to this guys, who actually looks like me Shitzu :) beatiful song, talented man
Like Ravel's piano piece "Pavane pour une infante defunte", a seemingly simple and repetitive passage, but yet so melodic and mesmerizing, that it elicits the longing feeling of someone lost, a little friend, or someone so very dear...
He is one of the most appreciated composers in the world, with dozens of the well-deserved highest awards in countless categories... how is that underrated, exactly? Those who prefer country crap, the Jonas brothers or Britney Spears will never know about him, of course, but that's fine - swines have no use for pearls :)
1st heard this song on a movie...it was like and karate movie..on for the credits a few years back..then i just heard it on this movie pathology..and i knew where the changes were going..i then it hit me..haha loven it!
simple but a very effective song, a strong element of sadness, even though most is repetitive, Ryuichi Sakamoto is brilliant, one of the best Japanese composers. :) He knows his music..
this is one of my favourite pieces written for Piano the cello accompaniment it also good, but makes it more eerie and disjointed, I like this for it's simplicity and beauty. Glass of red wine, close your eyes and just dive in.
Yes.. I am with Emilatla on that one.. I am looking for the sheet as well.. But I haven't found it yet.. If anybody know where to find it would be really helpful:)
I'm looking for people to take part in a university study of Babel and its spectatorship. Please just visit my profile for more info and a link to the survey. Thanks!
esa cancion me recuerda momentos impactantes en mi vida.....es sencilla pero poderoza.....es bueno de vez en cuando encontrar musica que me haga sentir emocioenes muy fuertes....y estas es una....que alegria saber que existe!!!

Sounds like Mother Earth says 'perfection' and puts it in Sakamoto's head.
It's a gospel of truth, beyond religions and humanity.

BIbo no Aozora, how would you translate it?
BucketTribute 3 months ago
@BucketTribute
"Bibo" is "beautiful expression" or "beautiful face" bit with feminine image.
"no" is usually used just as "of".
"Aozora" is "blue sky".
so,the direct translation is "Beautiful expression of the blue sky" or "Beautiful Skyscape".
but especially in artworks, titles are often including deeper or double meaning.
in this case,"Beautiful blue sky like her gently smile" is my answer.
because I feel deep sadness from this song.
please enjoy your own explanation, too :)

Those who prefer country crap, the Jonas brothers or Britney Spears will never know about him, of course, but that's fine - swines have no use for pearls :)

simple but a very effective song, a strong element of sadness, even though most is repetitive, Ryuichi Sakamoto is brilliant, one of the best Japanese composers. :) He knows his music..

this is one of my favourite pieces written for Piano the cello accompaniment it also good, but makes it more eerie and disjointed, I like this for it's simplicity and beauty. Glass of red wine, close your eyes and just dive in.
