@pizani666 Hey it's great to come across someone with an ear for this stuff. Yeah, that's totally Adrian during the intro solo. Dave doesn't hold his notes that way, or bend notes that way either - hard to explain. Definitely Dave on the bridge solo though.
One thing I love about the guys is you can always tell who is soloing in he song. Adrian is very methodical and compositional. His solos are the most arranged and he uses a lot of techniques from his Blues background. Davey is Mister Rubber Fingers and has this wild fluid thing going in his solos. I know there are terms for what he does but they are escaping me at the moment. Janick's solos are erratic and angular. All great! First solo not Davey but Adrian - second Davey
Epic delivery by Paul Di'Anno! By some freak of nature, Adrian's solo just doesn't come close to Dennis Stratton's...and I have infinite respect for H!
my favourite iron maiden song from my favourite iron maiden album! paul and bruce both did awesome jobs in their own ways.. oh my this live is just... no words to describe
@WateverBr I wonder how they would have sounded with Ronnie James Dio. Wasn't he there first choice. I remember reading somewhere that Blaze wasn't there second choice. Blaze wasn't a bad singer its just that his voice didn't seem to fit the maiden sound.
I had this Live plus 1 in a Japanese sleeve when I was about 16 back in 81. Loved everything about the band at that time. What I would give to be back there now, sex, drugs and rock n roll, yes indeedy!!
I think the first maiden album is fucking perfect and it's my favorite maiden album by far... "The Number Of The Beast" is too good too, but in my opinion "Iron Maiden" & "Killers" are better...
wow i'm a huge iron maiden fan but I didn't expected someone would even be as good als bruce, maybe even better!! I think I must certainly look up their first albums.
sorry for my engish, I'm not very good at it since I'm from belgium, where it isn't even spoken.
I agree! Bruce has lost his great voice by now anyway. Saw Maiden a few years ago, and compared to 1999 it was nothing. Seen Paul solo and he is such a great person, really down to earth, and takes time to talk to fans etc. He is not what he used to either, but the man can still rock. Maiden w. Paul was brilliant.
this song was most likely played in japan and not the marquee, as it does not feature on any of the official release's for the ep live!! +one. not on the uk, jap or greek release's at least
Great song!!! one of my favorites from the first Maiden album. Paul Dianno's voice is just wonderful. Bruce Dickenson is awesome but I think Dianno's voice is suited best for the first two Maiden albums.
@l7ebels Correct Fucking Paul was powerful clean and hardcore one crazy mother fucker too if maiden would have kept Dianno you crazy fucking head bangers would have been going to see motorhead with the punks and you would have bypassed the eyeliner lipstick phase of motley crue and posion in the 90's poor bastards.

Guys, relax ! I guess you people haven't read my original comment where I say that this song will always sound the best in Di'Anno's voice. Someone replied to be by saying the Bruce's version is better just like Hendrix's cover of Watchtower is better.
My response was to that comment. I own ALL IM albums and know their history by heart. Jeez !
I am a frim believer of FIRST BATCH IS THE PUREST AND OF THE ESSENCE! This is IRON MAIDEN!! PERIOD! 666, number of the beast or any other are the SPAWN of this PURE ESSENCE! -if you avarage the two years 1980-1981 from Di'Anno; and compare that to Dickinson's average from 1981-1993 + 1999-present; - Bruce is better but Paul is awesome
I never said Paul was,nt great at that time in the bands history, cos he was,Iron Maiden and Killers were the 1st metal albums i ever owned and still love them today.
Nobody can OWN another artist's performance, no matter how great they are. Other people don't sound right on songs sung by BD and vice versa. This song will forever be Di'anno's and that is the god awful truth.
I like Hendrix's version myself but to be honest, I like it better than almost all of his original work, so that doesn't really say much about his original work making a mark on me. Also, Jimi did a great cover version but if he was that great, he would come up with it himself. It is infinitely easier reworking a tune once you have a completed structure to work with already. This is why originality will always get more marks.
guys guys guys.. Di anno was fair for maiden standards. Don't act as if he was a grate talent such as Bruce or Dio. As for the song, I really wish they would play it live now.

Yeah, Bruce may be able to sing at a ridiculously high pitch but he doesn't have range. His so called deep voice sounds like a 13 year old kid trying to sound like an adult. Paul can do falsetto and sing fairly deeply, and Blaze is pretty much a combination of both, sounding a bit more aggressive.
The fact that they've never played this song live after Di'Anno left proves that even they agree his rendition cannot be topped.

Di' Anno was not enough for maiden. Through all these years though his voice has "gained" some "depth",i.e., he has significantly improved.
