  • beautiful picture

  • A partir del minuto 2:45 me suena a una película. ¿Puede ser?

  • smoke opium to make this song faster.

  • <3

  • If it interests anyone: The photographer appears to be variationsonthewordsleep (aka Julia) over on flickr. (She has the oldest, highest-quality image on the web (March 2008, 200dpi)). She says the model's name is Florencia.

I wasn't able to confirm that it is Flor/encia Blanco, though. (Her model profile has mostly stock and fashion photographs)

  • Great version, better than the originl

  • @imnotlarry THANK YOU! finally an intelligent and useful comment!

  • The introduction is a bit annoying, but it is a beautiful song.

  • I am sorry for your loss. She is beautiful, like an angel!

  • this is just dreadful, bland, dull, lazy

  • i dint believe eather of you ..

  • Awesome cover - minimalistic, frenchy, outstanding

  • hang drum <3

  • A bit like Bjork

  • im on the edge of my seat all the way through this waiting for the synths to kick in then the electronic beat to start..........still i didnt like the original so this is an improvement

  • Sounds like Lykke Li took inspiration from this.

  • @Gatorade237 and thats why she's in the suggestion list. related maybe?

  • @peza38 midge ure you mean

  • Fantstic song <3

  • J'adooooooore. This is so beautifully serene. Now I want to go ride a bicycle through France while its raining and the skies are fading to grey.

  • @xVintagexWisdomx Have you ever actually rode a bicycle in the rain? It's the most horrible experience ever, right after accidentally touching that nasty-looking anus of your cat with any unspecified bare part of your body offcourse, that's just traumatizing. Not that this ever happened to me, I'm just saying.

  • @francoisdewitte Lawl, well that's unfortunate of you. xD I've ridden a bicycle in the rain and it was very relaxing. Of course, I was seven, and I ended up crashing into a fence thanks to a flat tire, but other than that, it was pretty cool.

  • What a bag of pretentious shite ...

  • @IncaRoad01 In the words of Smokey Robinson..."I second that emotion" lolz

  • @IncaRoad01 ... as opposed to the original "bag of pretentious shite" (your words) by Visage ?!?! I thought it was a clever tribute. Got the vibe of the song perfectly--without all the early 80's pop-synth.

  • love the do

  • where's the hairdress tutorial? :)

  • excellent song...didn't Visage cover this? not interested in the picture by the way....

  • @mancity20092009

No, they didn't. Fade to Gray is original Visage song written by BIll Currie and Midge Ure (later of Ultravox). The latter also wrote Do they know it's Christmas.

  • everything, everywhere, these idiots just will not leave the 80's alone! the only thing positive I have to say about them is they have good taste in music, to bad they feel justified in raping the music they love.

  • I can't find the picture, hope someone can help me.

  • this is the hairstyle of the future!!

  • @losghost Sorry for your loss. She's beautiful. I just lost my sister this year, Feb 2011 to murder. I will never forget her ♥

  • Hey you look like "big girl"! (sorry i dont mean "a" big girl)

  • Hey you look like big girl!

  • This is a lovely cover, but I'm not sure it beats the original.

  • she died

  • I feel just like the theme on the beginning -.-

    So sad and rip-you-soul-apart-ing ...

  • who is the girl of the photo? its really beautiful

  • this would be a good soundtrack for some edgy movie. so french.

  • @antediest yeah, sure. just for you I´m gonna do it. ppfff. anda no mas. it is just a cmment or should I explain it? I mean, if you like this song, sorry, but I dont.

  • pls pls use more hangdrum in your adaptaiton... is so rare musical instrument in this time....

  • This one i wish to be played on my daily train station exit. Some euros would be in it for.

  • I'M NOT WRITING ANY POETRY...

  • depressing

  • the band who originally sings this is visage, her cover is really beautiful though.

  • que preciosa la chica de la imagen, me gustaria saber quien es

  • beautiful

  • from pop to art..whatever sounds great

  • This version gives me goosebumps. Sparse, bleak, sexy European sophistication....

  • great hang drum at the end of this song

  • What is the whispering in the background..? is this song from a movie? who is the girl in the picture?

  • @Brian07891 The whispering is the French translation of the English lyrics, which are also spoken in the original song, after each verse. The song is not from a movie; all background noise was just added on. I have no idea who the girl is... perhaps one of the guest singers for Nouvelle Vague. Hope that clears things up a bit. :)

  • @sendai78 Def. does, thank you

  • uwielbiam ten zespół!

  • look at my vids..they really suck

  • de vinir gris! we fade to grey! good cover, the french sound suits this song well

  • CUTE head!

  • The thing about Nouvelle Vague is that its very easy music to listen to. The songs they cover are all classics, and they are done in that late night laid back way. This shouldnt detract from the fact that it is , infact complete shit. It's a one trick pony , a very clever marketing trick - but the music , the craft, the effort is all wrong. Its just shite for shite times (anything truly interesting broken into the mainstream recently ?) Its lazy rubbish. Jais deteste.

  • I love the original but this is simply beautiful. It's nice to hear a woman's voice with this song.

  • ...come ammazzare una canzone...

  • not the original!... :(

  • also sounds like the beggining of bjork - wonderlust

  • @Candygirl92k I thought that too!! I love MUM soooo much!!

  • This was the only song from the New Romantic movement that I liked. This is an even better version it's kept the coldest of the original(why I liked it). I disagree with comments about the organ it's great and the french in the background earlier is brilliant.

  • @TheHughLundy Are you joking?. This is a load of garbage compared to Visage's version. The first 1 min 12 secs sounds like a child attempting to play the organ. When she sings she sounds like she can't be bothered to sing. It just sounds like a really bad demo version. I know we're all entitled to our opinions but come on, this is just mind numbing drivel.

  • @flares Too right!I it sounds more like an Accordian tho.

  • @flares Sorry you feel badly about this version of the song but as you rightly say everyone has different opinions. I feel the vocals are right and give off and even colder & errier feel than Visage but thats just me (& why I didn't like the new Romantics). It might also be the French accent it seems to put people off but I love it.

  • @TheHughLundy I loved the french accent in the original. Visage's version has got so much more going for it. The music is better, it just flows better. The New Romantics made some fantastic music. I'm not exactly sure why you didn't like them. You should check out the video to Nightboat by Duran Duran. I think its one of the greatest records of the 80s. Great eerie synths. You can either reply to this message or send me a message on my account and let me know what you think.

  • @flares Thanks I've just listened/watchede the nightboat(Original Version) 5.12 Min video.Yes the Synth is more errie than glitzy but in a forceed way.Sounds like a rock song with synths put on.Both Suicide & Chrome used synth's in truely truely trashy/eerie and weird ways.

  • @flares Part of my promlem with New Romantics was their put more effort /time into appearance than song struct.Visage expected. Duran Duran on the Nightboat do the same thing the spoken part is ood but the song/lyricswise um. Thanks for the suggest it's always good to hear different things.

  • @TheHughLundy I know the New Romantics put a lot of effort into how they looked but putting effort into how you look doesn't automatically mean you're putting less effort into the music. You've only got to listen to the music to know they put effort in. There were other early Duran songs that were never released as singles like New Religion, The Chauffeur, Friends Of Mine which I think are superb. Try to look past all the make up and listen to the music.

  • @flares Thanks again for the tip on songs I've given them a listen without visuals. Sorry I still feel the same way The Chauffeur starts out fine then becomes just a rock song with a sing a long chorus. I 'm at a lost to tell it from rock without the visuals. The same for new religion but minus the good start.

  • @TheHughLundy I'm not sure how you can call The Chauffeur a 'rock' song. Rock song are songs with the guitar as the dominent instrument. When I think of rock I think of bands like Guns n Roses, Queen, Black Sabbath, Boston, Bon Jovi etc. The Chauffeur is hugely dominated by synths.

  • @flares No, it's not rock - it's top British new wave. TheChauffeur and Planet Earth are the only good tracks by Barbarella's orgasmatron operator cum evil genius! The video's not bad either! Now, that seriously rocks! I prefer the Sneaker Pimps version anyway

  • @flares You see part of the problem for me with new romantics was they weren't rebeling against anything Simon Le Bon, & Tony Hadley just wanted to be rock singers with synths. Nouelle Vague are rebelling by turning rebel classics on their heads all be it gently.

  • @TheHughLundy I remember seeing an interview with Martin Fry from ABC and he said The New Romantics were partly rebelling against punk, but does it really matter if they weren't rebelling against anything?. Of course it doesn't. As long as the music is good to listen to. The only thing Nouvelle Vague are rebelling against is composing their own songs as far as I can see, but like I said before it's each to their own.

  • @flares Rebelling is part of music and a very great part of it.When I say music I am talking about artists some who write their own songs some who don'tI'm even talking German Carbaret in the 30's here. The important thing is being creative rather than being in it for the money-ie boy bands.

  • @flares Of course in a way the new romantics were rebels but not musically- fashion image lifestyle wise they have a lot to the 20th century. When I say Duran Duran are rock with sythns iit's not an insult. I would rather listen to new romanticsa than rap, gospel, jazz or boyboys.

  • @flares Again sorry you don't loke this version of the Visage song. I,m a lover of PIL & XTC and would be interester in what you think of Nouvelle Vagues version's of their songs both of which I like very much.

  • @TheHughLundy I didn't like the PIL song but I quite liked Making plans for Nigel. I still prefer XTC's version.
