  • CRISS OLIVA

  • Is that the best that they could do?? Slash??? Really???

  • If there's anybody that needs to quit smoking, it's Eddie Van Halen

  • ed is the king of electric RR guitar. i know you don't want that, but you are,

  • Eddie Van Halen and his guitar......strikes fear in the heart of Chuck Norris!

  • He did turn it all the way up in the old days but when he says he's never used a boost pedal then the question becomes what's with the graphic EQs on the pedalboard from 78-79?...no big deal really.I love Eddie and I think his EVH line is great either way.I want too check out the mini EVH.

  • "I never used a boost pedal...I just turn it all the way up"

    Lies

  • @CmathTV He used 3 delays, a flanger, phase 90, and a humbucker rated at 15+ ohms

  • I completely agree with Eddie! If the guitar or amp doesn't play or sound as I want, the music comes out uninspired! It's very hard to find gear that let's your personality come through! There's too many "boutique" amp companies around, too many "boutique" pedal/effects companies around! There's sure as hell not thousands of ways to make a Marshall, and the same goes with Fender! Stop trying to reinvent the wheel!

  • @filionka all this shit would be good if they were made in the U.S. and the U.K. most are made in China now because it's cheaper. I myself would rather have a Blackstar than a Marshall right now because of that fact. EVH,Peavey,Mesa, and maybe Orange are made in the U.S. i'm sure and there the best out there that i've played

  • Out comes...bleh!!

    haha

  • That wall of amps probably costs more than twice or thrice the amount of the average working person earns in a year

  • hahahahahah hell yeah. he kicked the cabinets and made them rock....i think that was the pun he was going for lol. glad they didn't fall.

  • eddie van halen does not go to eleven. he goes to twelve

  • @Unbound91

nah even better he goes to 5150!!!!

  • @Unbound91 the amazing thing is that he has not blown up his new 5150 (III) so he definately goes up to 12

  • @Unbound91 EVH does not crank it up to 11. We however try to crank it up to EVH.

  • TAP TAP TAP :D

  • Dude I love that tone from 1:10 to 1:40...Haha I like when Ed kicks the amps and when it leans forward Ed like stops quickly cuz he probably thought it would fall over!!

  • i want a fuckin pair of those lepard overalls

  • theres about 56,000 sitting there at 2:34

  • The tone they are describing back then isn't what he sounds like now. That new amp has 8 preamp tubes. Its very distorted, grainy, dirty in a way thats not like the Marshalls he used to get his tone from.

  • @theShowStopper321 those Marshalls were fuckin amazing man!!!

  • @UFCfanboy7898 Only there EVH 5150s :D But agreed man agreed!

  • Brilliant guy....Slash nailed it right on the head.

  • if someone can tell or show me how to make that jaw dropping sound starting at 1:30 , i would be so grateful. Ive been trying to recreate that sound, but i cant get it

  • @guitarman6486 use a whammy bar

  • @InfiniteRhombus ohh nice one, never would have thought of that...........yea i can see too, its not that easy to get that perfect harmonic to sound like that

  • @guitarman6486 its just a harmonic dive, they're not that hard to do.

  • Compared to 99% of guitarists, we all sound like Blahhh......

  • It's because of the tongue cancer he had.

  • Finally a sober and lucid Eddie interview

  • Eddie sounds like Kermit....stop smoking. He is not a god...we kill our gods and Idol's kill themselves.

  • Eddie sounds like Kermit....stop smoking.

  • Slash certaintly got those tasty licks in between in his own guitar playing.

  • Never used a distortion pedal? I've heard otherwise.

  • @toadman842 He may have played around with one, but I doubt he ever recorded or performed with one. His cranked amps provided more than enough gain to deafen his ears. He did use an EQ at one point to boost some mids, but other than that not extra gain.

  • @toadman842 you've heard wrong. On the 1998 tour he had a Boss overdrive in his signal path, but it wasn't on, it was to buffer the signal. That's probably what your referring to.

  • 2 people don't know musical talent when they see it.

  • i try to get away and i land hear. SOB.

  • greatest man to ever pick up a guitar.if it wasnt for him we wouldent have the metal harmonics and such like we do today

  • @johnreptiles1012 Not to mention tap harmonics, humbuckers in everything besides a Gibson, the Floyd Rose, and really an effects pedal board/loop. Not to mention many many other things

  • i like turtles

  • Awesome video ! Thanks !

  • Eddie has written some of the greatest riffs and solos known to man. Not to mention being innovative.

  • Always got a cigarette in his hand! Other than that, LEGEND! and He is LIVING LEGEND!

  • fuck yea, american spirit! awesome.

  • Man I love Slash's playing to death but dude...seriously I'm getting sick of seeing his fucking face on every damn interview video or some new signature guitar he has. The dude has like 20 of them for every company.

  • Too cool for words! From: Rockin Robin Rox..

  • For me it's Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eddie Van Halen loosely in that order, very loosely...

  • ... the best guitar player ever known

  • @mitchell797979 let's not get too ahead of ourselves. maybe the most influential rock/metal guitarist. but definitely not the best ever.

  • @amaranthinagony definitely not the most influential rock metal guitarist, no way in hell

  • slash annoys me he tried to put every 80's guitarists exept himself into a category of evh clone, like hes so original -_-

  • @danophile07 i agree

  • @danophile07 well a least he didn't copy van halen in the 80's like most of the guitar player of that time did

  • @danophile07 sounds about right for Slash, hes a good guitar player but by no means the revolution that Eddie was, im not even much of a van halen fan anymore.

But sadly with slash hes established himself to the point where whatever he says is gonna be followed by alot of young people. i was in a shop once and a kid picked up a Slash sig epi and started saying how it was the most revolutionary les paul ever made.

  • @Splittail01

Many, especially younger fans, are just plain ignorant when it comes to their favorite guitarists. They only know what little they have seen and have had little exposure to anything else. The hardest thing to do sometimes is to look at something or someone objectively.

  • @Splittail01 yer man its bullshit hes not revolutionary or original hes goods yes but hes basiclly a jimy page joes perry rip off and hes more of a commercial figure than an actualy guitar legend, theres a different but his fame has clouded the difference

  • @danophile07 you obviously have no fucking idea what you're talking about. How can you compare him to perry and page?! Its like comparing Rolls Royce to a Lamborgini.

  • @kls4life lolol dude i know what im saying is hes like a wanabee clone of peryy and page understand? he probably compares himself to them more than anyone
