for those of you who don't know Soda Popinski's Real name in the original arcade version of Punchout was "Vodka Drunkenski". FFS Nintendo its barely an alchohal reference at all and besides. Vodka Drunkenski is far less of a violent drunk than most step fathers here in the states.

Nah, there's a reasonable but non-canonical reason for it.

He WAS Vodka Drukenski. However, once he started losing matches left and right, he realized that something was holding him back. He watched recordings of his recent fights, and soon realized that he has started to consume so much vodka during fights that he was becoming a terrible boxer due to how drunk he was.

As such, he searched for something else that gave him the energy and buzz that vodka did. Eventually, he started drinking soda.

dude. In the original NEs version of punchout press select during the round break and your health will go up. In this one. You press the (-) button and you will hear a ding type deal. and your health will go up tremendously. But never all the way up to you have it full.
