yes he is over weight, yes i tried to convince his owner to reduce his feeding. and yes he is still alive and will be 9 years old in november of 2010.

this is not a healthy monitor , sadly....

  • how much do water monitors go for?

  • @james74step depends where you live in foriegn countries like 7 bucks U.S its from 70 to 139

  • where do you get those?

  • Animal Jungle in Virginia Beach?

  • ooh oh oh isnt that alexander at animal jungle??? if it is i luv that monitor he inspired to buy a savanah monitor

  • Definatly not a sulphur not even close it's a very dark colored Asian

  • what is the water monitor is doing?

  • He's gorgeous but def a tad chub-bhub. ;) Usually it's the other way around with a lot of lizards. Nice to see such a big healthy boy.

  • haha he gets fed well nice monitor.

  • would that be considered a sulphur water monitor or does he just have light coloring

  • that is the fattest monitor i have ever seen, how cute.

  • lazy? Only because it is way overweight and can't be bothered to move about, poor lizard

  • I think that is the biggest asian water monitor on youtube

  • dude , your monitor is dangerously fat, do something about it

  • Dam that thing is FAT

  • that is one FAT water monitor.

  • what are the dimensions of the cage?

  • anyone that keeps an animal that size in a "cage" should be shot, that fucker is huge.

  • its in a room not a cage look at the animal jungle tour videos i think its number 6 or somewhere above there but it does look rather obese though maybe it should start on a diet and burn that fat off...

  • i want one of these big guys once i move into a bigger place but obviously i wont get one right away

  • HOW OLD IS THIS WATER MONITOR?

  • lol i been 2 that store its in Va beach,Va. Animal Jungle is the stores name and i saw alex in there 2 its a cool store they have alot of cool animals and reptiles i go there all the time with my bearded dragons whats your name ?

  • do they all tend to get that fat, its just a question i'm not meant to be insulting towards the animal, i'm planning on getting one sometime....

  • i dont think its fat, its just laid out FLAT on the floor like if u were to press ur biceps or somthin on a table. i could be wrong tho?

  • Hey this is animal jungle i have a black roughneck monitor on layaway there right now!

  • thats one fat mo fo monitor

  • overfeeding is just a part of the problem! a water monitors diet should compose largely of fish, insects, eggs and crustaceans, with an ocassional warm blooded item. I prefer fowl and rabbits twice a month with a supplement. A large pond will help with exercising along with low climbing limbs and large rocks.

  • twice a month feedings? There not snakes. This one is clearly overfed, but your taking it to the opposite extreme.

  • croc

  • get a water monitor

  • reptile experience should own any large animal including snakes. If you dont know much about reptiles or you havent really handled a large one then a savannah "varanus exanthematicus) is a perfect animal for you, they stay small and have a relatively easy temper to deal with but be careful because they have are known to get over weight as well ok. Hope i helped =)

  • Yellow or red ackies are best for un-experienced owners IMO-savs are good too.

  • ackies are not the freindlist

  • If you want friendly, get a bearded dragon. Savannah monitors get to 4 feet, and need a 8x4x4 foot cage. How is that ok for a person who doesnt know alot about reptiles.(last comment was for eddy.

  • at around 40 lbs. the problem is people see water monitors in the wild and yes some are huge but they forget that monitors dont eat all year round. during the winter months they fast and use up the stored fat they have in their tails. then when it starts warming up they go back to eating normally and in case you guys are wondering why monitors do they its because they are ectothermic meaning their body temp isnt regulated by their metabolism like ours is. but anyways only people with top

  • Ok so first of all if you need to ask where to buy a monitor or any reptile of that size then honestly you dont need to buy it. Water monitors arent for people with novice experience they are for people that really know what they're doing. And getting them large rocks has nothing to do with their body size. Yes it does help them shed but body size isnt determined by the size rocks they have. and 52lbs is still fairly large. i know water monitors get massive but a really healthy monitor should

  • can you list places? ColbysPits I was going to get a water monitor but I couldn't find one so I got a Bosc monitor.

  • Buddy, your monitor is seriously obese. If YOU do not sort it out, it will DIE a premature death.

Hardmetalfrog..Do your research! If you have a real interest in these massive lizards, you'll find out yourself where to get one from.

  • where do you get them?

  • MARK haha this is billy, i totally stumbled across this video by accident, have we got anything interesting in lately? i heard my diadems finally had a successful clutch

  • hey is that alexander the great? i saw him yesterday!

  • That's overweight.

  • you have a very beautiful asian water monitor.i have a baby one thats about 12 inchez

  • hey my name is eddie and i work at a zoo. monitors arent supposed to be that big. that monitor is way way to heavy. he's 90 pounds and really should be around 30-40 pounds. that animal is beyond heavy... not healthy at all. usually monitors that heavy die pretty young... sad thing...

  • i know there sposed to be skinny thats why u have to get them big rough rocks to shed on i learned because i have one and its full grown and 52 pounds

  • why are monitors always fat wen there big? is it over feedin or are they jus a fat lizard in general?

  • lol hes so cool and fat like s spoiled lizard

  • poor salvator :( ia very fat :(

  • very beautiful, i have a baby salvator water monitor.

  • Hey, how much would a savannah monitor cost in the shop u work at?

  • they sell for between 40 and 80 bucks depending on size and temperment .

  • Wow, really cheap. They don't even sell them here...

And when they come from USA they're like 200 bucks ( dollar is 3x here :) )

    C'ya!

  • this shows the obvious ferocity of water monitors (lol)

  • I want one of these so bad but its the cage cant do it to much to buy one and wouldnt know where to start if building one :)

  • sweet monitor, like u said a little overweight but that will soon change with good weather and exercise

  • he is currently over weight , but we have him on a reduced diet and also with warmer weather he gets to go outside for a lot more excercise .

  • He looks over weight, is he?

  • lol what a fatty lol he must be happy lol

  • mines 8 ft but not chub like him

  • he is a bit heavy , we have him on a diet right now . also now that it's getting warm , he'll be getting outside walks which will help as well .

  • is he for sale>? Also is he supposed to be that chubby? lol. thanks in advance

  • Awesome :), what a ham lol.. Can you do a vid of a tour of the shop?, looks cool :)..
