  • this is Mike Parsons at Cortez Bank off Califorinia 66ft Brad Gerlach on the ski won billabongs biggest wave of the year prize

  • the jet ski guy was like fuk this im outa here peww

  • shiiiaaattt... the highest one i ever did suffing was 16 feet... well his is probably 160

  • Crikey, you guys are all too highly strung. Rosker48, yes I do surf and have done since 1975 if that means anything to you. Isn't a bloke entitled to an opinion with you around or should everyone else's opinion be the same as yours?

  • what i reckon ? ... go back to school kid.. the microphone is on the surfer , while the video comes from a helicopter . stop thinking so much , you aint that smart

  • hey forrykook ,, hmmm watch it again mr. negative ... the video is shot from a heli ~ the micro ~ on the surfer .. some people really are that stupid ~ you obviously have never really surfed either ... prolly never even left your room

  • I've been wondering whether this is real or not and I don't think it is.

    1) when the camera, (supposedly in a helicopter) pulls back, the sound of the jet ski also dissipates. You wouldn't hear the ski from a chopper in the first place.

    2) Then it goes sort of quiet with atmospheric winds whistling...ahem, the camera is in a chopper - very noisey.

    3) During the pull-back the wave face kind of blurs out of focus. Probably disguising some editing.

    That's what I reckon.

  • @forrykook my god you're fucking annoying what are you a fat five year old brit or something ? jesus christ what an idiot.

  • @forrykook

I would agree that there was obviously some sound editing. If you watch the billabong odyssey dvd you will see the waves leading up to this one as well as this featured wave. It may help convince you of the authenticity. Also There are cliffs surrounding Pe'ahi on Maui that could have supplied the same camera angles.

  • damn

  • die another day

  • Id scream HOLY SHIT

  • Good video!

  • small surf look how slow he is riding it

  • slow motion brah

  • did the guy die

  • naw that's Mike Parson's a great surfer in the 80's but now makes his name by being a big wave surfer, this wuz a few years ago at Peahi aka Jaws in Maui at a big wave comp

  • nothing like a tsunami at all. tsunami is a completely different thing than an ocean wave. i would call that big Peahi, but not as big as it can get.

  • omg thats like a tsunami

  • right it's not the big wave but the force behind the wave which makes the tsunami dangerous

  • hly sht

  • where did he go?

  • that man has balls of steel!

  • thats incredible

  • Amazing

  • this looks fake

  • HOLY CRAP! O_O...I'm scared of the ones that are as tall as me. (of course I belly surf xD) but seriously that thing is a monster!

  • God! He could of been killed....right?

  • well yeah.. but you can die surfing a four foot wave, you can die in four inches of water!

  • wowwzers. thats what i call having balls

  • HOW DID YOU DO THAT?

    CJ Mote 9 yrs old

  • Does Anybody know who it is?He rides for billabong i think?

  • mike parsons

  • Awesome!

  • this is how you get respect kids

  • i wish we got waves like this where i live....

  • its in the middle of the ocean, no wave that big would ever reach land

  • naw man its just kinda far off shore it wouldnt have curled over if it was in the middle of the ocean...for a wave to be surfable there has to be something underwater to cause it to slow down like a sandbar or a reef

  • very cool

  • awesomme!!

  • funny if he fell

  • :O

i wish i cood do that lol

  • niiiiiiiiccccccccceeeeeee

  • Wow, pretty amazing! Wonder what someone would do if they just saw this mass of water coming towards them ???

  • this is jaws in hawaii and this is part of the dvd billabong odyssey so get it right

  • you're right about odyssey, but I think this is cortes bank, is it not?

  • its todos santos.. get it right. not fking jaws.

  • i did a very simmilar wave i know how it feels dude

  • i seen fucken elvis, and im high as fuck

  • hugs not drugs...lol

  • sweeet

  • Actually, it isn't fake. It's Mike Parsons riding a 65 footer in Maui. It's in the Billabong video, 'Odyssey'.

  • thats amazing

  • Checkout a movie called "riding giants". It is a surf documentary about big wave surfing. this is real stuff and I plan on doing this at some point in my life.

  • It's a FAKE, for crying out loud. Do you really think there are places in the world that have 100-foot waves?? Outside of a tsunami, waves like that do not exist. It's a very well-done piece of fiction.

  • acually ther is a place called mavericks and a place called jaws that will sometimes have waves like this

  • nope its genuine- some surfers specialise in surfing huge waves like this. and there was 3 100ft waves in the atlantic near spain not so long ago that made the national news so im surprised you can say this!

  • Holly shit. I have surfed 10' waves but that was

    f*%$#ing crazy

  • how cool, i would never be able to do that, shoot im even scared to get in deep water

  • I saw Elvis! well fuck me backwards, what a wave! I've never seen anything like it (tho' to be fair, I have lived on the south Cornish coast for 19 years)!!!

  • yo, pause this video at 40 sec and you'll see a side profile of Elvis. If not, then I'd better put the drugs away.

  • sorta

  • omg u do aswell!

  • holy shit. how did you notice that?!?!

  • wow and you didnt drown

  • if any of you have ever surfed b4 and been in the barrel how it looks so cool well thats craxy considering how big it is my biggest tube was like a lil taller than me

  • and he doesnt drown...

  • ok anyone who thinks this is fake is retarded for 1. and it is at jaws actully and the guy who did it was mike parsons in the billabong odyssey.

  • hes surfing in my toilet, i just flushed

  • are there any positive comments anymore?

  • ye, I saw this video. The guy drowns.

  • HE DEAD

  • you ppl are idiots its obvious to tell where he is surfing..GOSH...he is surfing this at the red sea when moses parted the sea....HAHAHA

  • hahahahahahhahahaha lmao :D

  • where is that?

  • yo where is that?

  • I love tow in surfing. And no helicopters are used often under those circumstances. I have seen guys do that in Peahi, better known as Jaws.

  • If that were real, how the heck did you get that camera angle? I think a helicopter is out of the question.

  • What an amazing wave! To think that is a representation of a force.

  • holy crap, thats amazing.

  • man, what a guy!

  • maybe the guy thats surfing has a mic on him and they used that for the sound on it you can hear a chopper in the distance in the begining

  • maybe the guy surfing has a mic on him and the used the sounds from that instead of from the camera shot

  • That's fucking insane.

  • that wave was on the verge of mass destruction dont u think. god help us

  • It's not fake. It's from a documentary called Billabong Odyssey. Its the openning segment.

  • Yeah I turned my headphones up to an extreme level and you can hear the chopper.

  • Totally badass

  • its by a chopper, theres a little yellow chopper that films all this and the no chopper sounds i think is cause camera isnt hanging off the bottom and the chopper is quiet. certainly real.

  • i actually think it was filmed by a chopper, i thought i could hear one over the roar of the wave but it's just that the wave is so loud!

  • these are baby waves

  • Maybe because you assumed it was a chopper.

Anyway cool vid. Does look a little fake, I think maybe a life guard or someone filmed it.

  • it's a bit strange, looks like a fake. i wonder where the cam was. it couldn't have been beach-based, it has to be in a helicopter. but why can i hear the wave's sound, but not the chopper's?

  • wow. livin in pittsburgh, i have never seen in person a wave any where near the size of that. astounding.

  • wish i had the balls to ride that

  • That's absolutely insane. Made props to that guy. Where was this movie(Billabong oddessy) filmed?

  • whoa duude!

  • thats its bullshit its imposible the idea of a wave like that!

  • the amazing thing is, he stacked massivly on his previous wave and was under for like a minute. To have the balls to go at it again, wow! Everyone should see the billagong oddesey. It's gold!!

  • that's a very possible wave height, they do get much bigger apparently you haven't heard of 'rogue waves'. that surfer is just lucky to get out before the wave break, wiping out then would've screwed him over big time.

  • that was really cool!!!whata fuckin huge wave!omg

  • woaaaa!!!

  • omfg

  • This clip is from the movie "The Billabong Oddyssey." The wave in this sequence was riden by Ken Bradshaw (filmed from a helicoptor). Filmed over the course of 3 years, the movie explores the adventures of a team of surfers on the quest to surf the biggest wave on the planet. The video is very much real.

  • it kinda looks animated

  • yeah its real

  • is this for real?

  • i dunno why but every time i watch this it looks fake ..oh yea and F**K TOW-ATS

  • OMG Does anyone know who that was. And was this the Huge wave contest?

  • thats just unbelievable
