  • Sublime

  • Is he singing falsetto?

  • This is amazing, beautiful sound

  • his shall all's ans all alls are terrible though!!!

  • Just perfect !!!!!

  • Who cares about the clothing ??? By the way I wonder why classical music is still considered as such a serious thing (compared to other musics) that singers and musicians should be dressed like at a wedding.

  • that was great, never mind the clothing!

  • Jaroussky in funny clothing :-)

  • The worst suit I've ever seen on him. But I love Jaroussky. He is amazing. Truly wonderful. Thanks for posting.

  • dude sings good.but he is so awkward...

  • @Falconiac Check out his dance moves here: "IX. Traditional: Pizzicarella mia / L`Arpeggiata" - totally cringe making.

Still, he can sing really quite well, so even execrable play-acting can be forgiven: "'Ciaccona del Paradiso e del Inferno' P Jaroussky + Arpeggiata - Pluhar, life"

Sorry, YouTube does not allow the links to be posted, so just copy and paste the titles of the clips into the search bar. Enjoy!

  • A côté de Deller Jaroussky peut aller se rhabiller ...

  • i love youuu

  • Toute la beauté de la musique de Purcell par la plus belle voix de contré-ténor qu'est celle de Philippe Jaroussky. Merci Maestro Jarrousky

  • I know this has nothing to do with the music , which is absolutely breath thaking by the way, but who clothed the poor man ?! His jacket is 246976252 sizes to big for him..

  • @Stijn9019 :DDD

  • I would say that his English isn't as good as his Italian, but certainly he is expanding his repertoire, and I'm sure he will continue to improve his English. I hope that one day his English will be on par with his Italian. This is no insult to this performance. It is simply that his performance of Italian music is more polished in terms of pronunciation.

  • Countertenors are very rare, and this young mand has a great gift. Loved it. Wonderful interpretation!

  • alfred deller ....INSUPERABLE ._.

  • @G0NZAL0666 This is Philippe Jaroussky.

  • Unix?

  • fabulous!!!

  • I stumbled upon this video and I thought it was one of the most beatiful things I have ever heard Henry Purcell is my favorite composer and you do amazing justice to his pieces!

  • This is weird hahaha but cool to hear a male sing this high hehehe ..........nice voice he sounds really clean but like others mentioned diction needs work i cant understand what hes saying but honestly thats what happens to alot of classical singers...usually i never understand anything that is being said even though its in english

  • @tmarie0929 There's actually very little wrong with his diction here. Bear in mind he's not English, and that he's using a lot of ornaments on the notes. I actually didn't know the words prior to hearing this, and was able to pick them up. If he was so bad, how could I do that?

  • @skingaz well maybe its just me......but being that i am a classical trained singer and English native i could barely understand and if im saying it. it means he really needs a little work... im around non-native speakers alot in Texas and his english is not the best but hes not a american so we can let it slide. its just my opinion......no offense....I hear bad diction every Friday from college students ....My ear has just got use to the fact that most classical singers dont use diction well.

  • @tmarie0929 I greatly respect your opinion, even if I disagree with it. :) I'm also a classical trained singer, and went to a college that had students from all over the world, so I've heard just about every accent going. I guess it's best to simply agree to disagree here. Some people WILL find him clear, and some won't.

  • Wow, it's amazing he can sing that High!

  • oh goodness!!!! how i wish i can sing like him. +D

  • Wow. Why do people feel the need to insult if they don't hold the same opinion?? If you don't care for it, fine. Even if you want to give your personal critique fine. BUT there is a difference in offering mature critiqueand hateful, demeaning, judgement. You don't show your musicianship, you show your childishnessGOOD critique-and critique that has any merit or that will offer ANY growth-is that which is offered out of RESPECT for the other musician and out of love for music..

  • Beautiful voice, so musical, but dreadful English for such an international star, and - sorry - but appalling harpsichord playing from his accompanist.

  • don't sing that hi man!

  • beautiful voice-bad pronunciation of English which is a shame.Someone of this standing should really brush up-after all text is the most important thing in vocal music.

  • @rosalbasemiplena 99.9 % of the people listening to this wouldn't even notice its sung with "bad pronounciation" as you put it so why kick the guy down for 0.01 of a percent?

  • @MrMaxTruth -i beg to differ. If you look a little further down the comments list you'll find Pellegrina23 describes the English as incomprehensible. An even stronger criticism than mine.i'm entitled to my opinion, you to yours.I am a musician and i work in the field of Early music.i work with singers all the time and all i was saying was that for someone with such a beautiful voice,it's a shame he doesn't spend more time and care on pronounciation of the text. He's a famous singer-cont.

  • @MrMaxTruth cont. at that level it is inexcuseable to neglect such a major element of vocal delivery.most people who might listen to jaroussky would have some interest in early music-it's quite an educated audience out there,i know,I perform regularly in the uk and abroad.I think you do the music loving population a disservice by saying that 99.9% of people wouldn't notice.maybe YOU are that 1%!!!! in which case enjoy this performance-they say ignorance is bliss-you must be permanently ecstatic!

  • Beautiful!!

  • WOW! Can I just say WOW?!!?!?? What a talent! What A BEAUTIFUL voice!!! Please don't stop, to post your BEAUTIFUL voice in the future!!!!!! OMG!!! !ENCORE!!! And Yoko, you have the sense of timing...! Pleaase post more!!!!!!!!!!! Pleaase?!????!!!!

  • Baroque pieces are always handled well by countertenors. They have to put much thought into placing the voice in the head and the results if achieved sound stunning. Thanks for your interpretation.

  • His singing is very well done, but how is this descant?

  • Purcell. Genius.

  • I love this tune- the lyrics are so modern in a sense discussing not God or love but the wonderful effect that music can have on your soul.

  • This young man is an extremely talented countertenor, he need not be insulted for using and engaging in his gift.

  • Sam, I'd give you more thumbs up if I could!

  • Thanks!

  • I totally agree, only a pity that the cembalo is so heavy flemish

  • y a eu comme un boum déconcertant non?

    mais tout de même... Bravo!

  • brilliant!!!!!

  • baro

  • Wonderful! That's how a countertenor's voice must sound: Sweet and "velvet like".

  • Wonderful voice but his English is incomprehensible.

  • Well, English counter tenors are not that comprehensible either...:-)

  • Must be added: It is late 17th century english, and phonetics.

  • What is this a Conservatoire or Concert ?

  • Beautiful voice!

  • Fantastic !!

  • Magnificient.

  • wow awsome, I sing that high too but I am a girl..... but I heard of counter tenors I didnt know they sound higher thats cool.

  • PURCELL-GRANDE

  • DUDE! you are like the 2nd counter tenor i have heard in my life! you are cool!the harpsi or is it a clavi or whateva......complements the voice!....

  • HENRY PURCELL, GRANDE

  • i love it im a counter tenor myself (a real one) and thats one of my fav. songs so look out 4 me im coming with vids soon.

  • not my best version but this is the most beautiful piece of music ever written

  • not at all my favorite version but it brings out the beauty of the piece!

  • B E A U T E O U S !

  • Philippe is one of the better falsetto countertenors well trained to sing alto-castrato music. More clear and precise than many and with higher notes than some so that he can assume roles not open to others. He has sung opera rolls which require greater power than this song. He should have an acceptional carreer.

  • absolutely breathtaking, i can't believe how beautiful and incredible this sounds B_R_A_V_O!

  • Is a pretty voice but this man has little power

  • philippe jaroussky is the most beautiful Alto. I recommands his vivaldi's record operatic arias.

  • love it. well done. can you please record I attempt from love's sickness to fly in vain from Henry Purcell

  • Most eunuchy
