I am not a fan of teachers by any means.

You try and care about 150 to 200 students a day. See how much you can care. Especially when you get shit from the students and there shit head parents. Along whit the crap from the school board. I believe the teachers do care to a degree about all the students BUT not the individual.

Next ask your self, how many people take home two to three hours of work a night that dont get paid for it one way or another?

Think about how many teachers who you've had who had really made an impact and taught you something from k-12? 6 teachers in elementary, about 18 in middle school, about 20 in high school? Rough estimate.... I would say maybe 10 out of all, and I would say I had a good education, thats roughly 41% competent teachers.

Teachers don't earn so much that is a known fakt but every other job requires extra time for preparation.

The teaching quality won't suffer because of a lower pay, because if the teacher does not prepare his lessons he is in violation with his contract! ;-)

Sounds like you have had bad teachers. I think only 10% of the teachers I've had are as you describe them. There are some crappy teachers out there and there are some good ones and they work hard.

Teachers do not get paid vacations. We do not get paid for our summers, spring break, winter break, thanksgiving, etc. In Hillsborough County, Florida, where this video was made, teachers work 10 days, but only get paid for 9. The district hangs on to the extra day in "escrow" and then doles it out during the breaks. How it is legal, I'm not sure!

I've taken both regular and honors/AP classes and there is a huge difference. The kids in the smart classes want to be there and there parents do as well for the most part.

If teachers stopped using their computer to IM (instant messaging) their friends during classroom time and actually do their work they would have enough time to get their job done during school. When teachers lose autonomy by having their time monopolized, education suffers. Anybody who doesn't understand this is a fucking idiot. Teachers WANT to do their jobs. College teachers have more freedom and free time, and they actually educate people.

as long as the american government keeps funding for schools, especially in the poor neighborhoods, at the bear minimum the illiterate uneducated people produced will be easily manipulated and convinced that agendas the government puts forth are for their betterment.
