Frank Schaeffer on Democracy Now! Part 1 of 2

Frank's father, Francis Schaeffer wasn't perfect to be sure, but I do think he genuinely cared for the counterculture of the 50s, 60s, and 70s, and strove to understand them and speak lovingly and meaningfully to their intellectual concerns. But what I see here in this video is a man who hasn't yet found his center. I think Frank has some approval issues that he still hasn't worked out yet. But hell, so do I. I guess it takes one to know one.

McCain didn't change. The RNC owns McCain since the S&L crisis when they got him off b/c he was a war hero. What else did they have on him? I think it was enough to get McCain to SUBMIT to having his arms raised above his head by George Bush at the convention when Bush took the republican nomination. It does my heart good to look through these comments. I thought I was in some Bizarro world when I first started watching these videos of Frank. I was actually broken-hearted about it. But to see the active discourse on both sides, and intelligent most of the time, has lifted my spirit a bit.

I really think that Frank has always been a bit unstable, and I say that as a reliable source. I have always hoped and still hope that he will find his way.

It's quite interesting how Schaeffer doesn't tell the whole story of the McCain campaign events, and that which he does tell is distorted and erroneous. Is Schaeffer afraid of fading into oblivion? His letter is full of hyperbole, exaggeration, sensationalism, and the embellished rants the Schaeffers are well known for.
