I just bought a 12x36 metal framed pool but haven't put it up yet because I keep seeing all these videos saying you need sand. Well I don't have sand. I have dirt. I live in GA and the soil where i live in soft and easy to work with. Can I just lay down one of those pool pads instead of sand? thanks!
@talarico1968 How much sand did you buy for the 18" pool? I have same. Also, Were the wheels of the Dolly on the ground at all? I could not tell as it was a little blurry
@amauricerogers i'd say about a yard of sand, i used about 4-6 inches of sand throughout. the wheels were touching but this year i will put a bag of sand on the dolly , the extra weight will help keep the board and wheels down a bit to help scrap out the harder parts....
Get a clamp or a look Get your board or straight edge that you're using and measure it at half the diameter of your ROUND swimming pool ...lol. of heavey duty wire and fasten it to your middle point, the screwdriver remember....lol and spin it up
first off 3 foot diameter in the middle has to be fairly level, so use a 4 foot level and level off. Then place a piece of rebar or better yet a straight screw driver with a big handle and drive it down until the handle is the height of the board you are using eg.1x6 o six inches in height. Get your board or straight edge that you're using and measure it at half the diameter your ROUND swimming pool ...lol.
the ground has to be fairly level before doing this technique, check with a straight edge or a straight piece of lumber from end to end. Or place a ring in the centre about 3-4 feet diameter make sure it's level at every point and spin on that
That was EXACTLY what I needed!!! Many many thanks from Texas!!

@allayna82 I guess you can. try passing a roto tiller your dirt to get it almost like powder and remove any stones or rocks
