@TomDracoRyu Thats for sure 20 years and counting,And for some strange reason i get the feeling we will be going back thier very soon to finnish the job,If you know what i mean it appears the UN cant get shit done right over thier without us.
This was actually a much needed intervention and something the US should be proud of...unfortunately it was botched and got a bad reputation. But really it was needed desperately.
Look fuckface, no one is saying the US doesn't have an overaggressive foreign policy. But it doesn't mean we were running around mogadishu raping and looting, nor were we just gunning down civilians. Read a fucking book.
Hardly any bombs were dropped, shows what you know about the conflict. In reality it was a low intensity conflict where most deaths were due to starvation, due to the warlords.
@Icix1 care to back that up with a link? because right now it's your word against a video of US helicopters strafing and the US shooting missiles. why was it any of our business? if we had stayed out of somalia, we could have intervened in a situation that actually needed our intervention, rwanda.
Look just read a fucking book, it's not that hard. You've clearly already made up your mind about the conflict, so I'm obviously just wasting my team. You see what you want to see, not what actually happened. Warlords were taking food aid and starving the people. We tried to solve that problem, but were ultimately unable to do so. But that doesn't mean we were killing everyone that moved. If you honestly believe that you're a fucktard.
That whole model of foreign aid was awful and it caused America to be entangled with a hostile Somali population that had been armed to the teeth by both us and the Soviet Union. Here's something I learned in a book, too-- apropos of you basically sharing the teabagger mentality of American power abroad-- George Washington said that America should avoid "foreign entanglements" as a rule. The military-industrial complex is a cancer on the fucking world, as any humane person realizes.
that is fucked ...god left that place in the late 80,s .... there is no hope for that country... theres ppl burned to a crisp shot to shit and to top it off rotting in buildings.. and the most fucked up part this vid aint even 4 mins long this has been happening for 20+ years .... wow
@SpyWizard2 i wish UN never come back you guys up today somali could be functioning country i may be swimming in my own country, this guys are crazy even their own children starving and flee they still think they know how to fight hawiye they eat children coward's and ignorant tribes who use crack and cocane and they have no political tactics
This fucking obnoxious and insensitive video represents everything that is wrong with the US' militaristic foreign policy and outlook on war as a cool videogame-top gun wet dream fantasy. Furthermore, where is the american soldier being dismembered and dragged around in the streets of Mogadishu? Maybe that part of the story doesn't RAWK so hard, doesn't go along with a totally bitchin' Kenny Loggins track.
@marzilyas So I'll tell you a secret: this video is against "the US' militaristic foreign policy and outlook on war as a cool videogame-top gun wet dream fantasy" and was made by the author of the footage who was there filming this.
@punipunipunisher "the author of the footage who was there filming this"? you are terrible at writing. but you know how to lie to yourself and me, so you are a classic conservative.
@marzilyas Btw, i wonder how the very caption "News footage cut to music of the June 1993 US airstrikes to kill General Aideed, with there usual lack of success." fits to your retarded narrative of "the US' militaristic foreign policy and outlook on war as a cool videogame-top gun wet dream fantasy" and faulty conservative-radar .
@marzilyas No, "your opinion is worth jack shit", because you don't understand what a guy (who has seen this stuff with his own eyes, being there, unlike you) means with a video like that despite all the stuff he CLEARLY writes in the description AND in the comments as well (about Vietnam, Laos, etc).
@marzilyas Check ou the one titled "The Worlds Violent Leaders - 1982" (caption: "Footage of those state leaders responsible for many of the worlds problems"), dumb guy.

wow the marines truly have the shit equipment at 0:24 they are driving in with M60 Pattons. those tanks were way outdated. The M1 Abrams was supposed to replace that i think.
America didn't really venture into Somalia to help out the people...that was just a pretext in order for American oil companies to secure the contract they just signed with the crumbling Somali government.
How can you help a warring nation by bringing in your soldiers? That's just asking for trouble. Think about it, if foreign armies entered America during America's civil war...wouldn't the the warring American factions turn their guns on them?
USA Were Out numberd 1million to 46 rangers & delta force .... KEEP DREAMING loser's ! Were are only stupid for EVER helping them with aid . Food etc etc
@SuperFatamerican We are so stupid, tats why from the top, lets say, 300 Universites in the world, aprox 200 are from the united states. Tet we are very stupid, I'm just being ironical by the way ; D
america couldnt thrash a bunch of skinny kids with ak47s its laughable hahahaha mission restore hope my backside four major us oil companies digging 4 oil at the exact sime time theresa bush was doing his charity work concidence i think not
i still don't get it why they run away , they americans and british lost louds of soldiers in iraq and afghanistan but somalia only 18 i wonder why why why big qustion mark
We didn't run. The mission there was to guard the UN food supply. Having done that, we pulled out our forces. If we really had wanted to, we would have leveled Somalia and wiped it off the face of the Earth. Be thankful we didn't.
@honeylondon1 18 on 1 day, which was unheard-of since the Desert Storm and it was a big war. People back then believed it was way too much, also the news footage of the dead soldiers being desacrated and apparent futility of this all (nation builiding, when all they wanted was too be left alone to shoot at each other, which they do to this day).
With all the poverty and starvation, I am surprised that there are not more civilians joining the rebels just to get access to food, but then again, would they get food even if they joined? >>Jacavender>> Everyone loves to say that cliche about America fought the war it "COULD" not win. Well the U.S. did not win in VIetnam or Somolia. But you must not forget that they COULD have one. Remember Hitler killing all the jews in sight? In theory, The U.S. COULD have nuked either country.
"Gunships:, Cobra's and Marine Harriers off the Abe Lincoln where active in both June of 1993 and also after the sadness of teh "Battle of Mogadishu 2" (Black Hawk Down). I was the cameraman who filmed both the U.S. troopers being dragged around the streets of "Mog" but, also got the ONLY footage of CWO Durrant being release so, maybe I made up for my sins?
From the comments, I thought this video depicted events from 3-4 Oct. Sorry about that, my bad. I guess I deserve a kick in the butt for not reading the title completely. Though, gunships SHOULD have been in the area. Freakin politics cost the lives of some dedicated men. SSDD
What a crock of shoddy editing. Spectres weren't used and yes, many were killed in the attempt to rescue Americans there to capture Aideed so that BILLIONS in AID would reach Somalians rather than his supporters. Maybe they should have stayed off rooftops and streets after midnight(most weren't spectators). Too bad we under-estimated their ability to shoot rpg's so well, ya shoulda known that since they had been shooting them since the age of 10, geez!
HarryD67 (shame you don't use your real name but, ce' la vie). Shoddy editing? REALLY?, sorry in 1993 we didn't have the luxury of AVID or FCP, we were 2 m/c beta to beta, but of course, you know this don't you! Re: AC130's, if you have the slightest fucking clue you will know that 2 x 'Spectre's' were based in Mombasa from late May '93 for use in the "Mog". You degenerate history with your comment, something you should be ashamed of. Viva Oakley on your shit stained boxer shorts, I wonder?
This is June, If I'm not mistaken, the Marines were still there, or they all exfilled in May. This is not Operation Irene. And Yes they did have Spectres and Armor. They were denied access to these during Irene on the 3rd of October.
The Pakistani's were from the "Khyber Pass Rifles" (they beat the shit out of the 'Brit's' when we tried to control the "tribal regions". Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Malaysian and Morrocan's were amongst the bravest of the brave. Morrocan troops refused to fire on the 'Benadir' hospital, even though they took 17 dead. Does that not show you that much smaller countries respected hospitals as opposed to "Good Old Mr Yankee" who, blew away EVERYTHING he saw with 'Cobra's' and AC-130's. Learn from life
I'm an English Cameraman (BBC) and the US, I believe turned, as you say "brutal" purely because they were fighting a war they couldn't win. All you have to do is look at Vietnam and the atrocities that happened there, from Mai Li through the indiscriment bombing of Cambodia but, even worse....Laos. 14 children lose a leg in Laos every single day due to the "cluster" bombs that cover maybe 10% of Laos. It is ALL to sad and BAD!
@jacavender Your Englishman and your Commenting on the So Called Atrocities of The Americans ?????? Are you fuckin blind mate to your own countries War crimes???????
@jacavender If the US troops had been allowed to shoot back and not made to sit on their fannies like a lot of sunday school children the story might have been different. Adm Howe was a weak idiot, the french, pakistanis and nigerians shot back and got respect. The US marines let the streetkids snatch the raybans off their faces which made the somalis realise they weren't any opposition. The Blackhawk thing was a complete military fuck up, the US had no credibility after that in Somali eyes.
Having been n Somalia during this time. I did multiple trips through the streets of Mogadishu with multiple marine attachments while waiting to be transported to my ship the USS Tripoli. I saw first hand the devastation. Bodies were everywhere, they made sand dunes out of them in mass graves. Blackhawk Down didn't even begin to touch base on what it was really like there. Hell pure ungrateful hell. Kids throwing had grenades at you as you try to hand our mre's. So much fun!!!!
Hey friend, your obviously one of the "Real Guys" who were in "The Mog", good to know you and so sad that everything went so "tits-up". Shit man, if you guys had stayed (you did it in Vietnam for 12 years), these fucking Al-Shaba wouldn't have caused. Why, when its so obvious that A-Q (not good idea to mention full name as NSA/CIA will just get on YOUR case (I don't give a fuck). Hey buddy, you mentioned just one ship, what about the USS Pelalieu, nothing like seeing 'ELCATS' leaving!:)
Get with the "Real World".... you ALL came from Africa, just grow up and if you have a serious problem, you take it up with ANY Somali and, I know who my money's on.
The glory of the Black Market. And dying people's weapons. "Mog" is a hub of black market sales. Especially of weapons. Fire arms and ammunition grow on trees there.
then why did u guys dissappeared in the middle of the night? haha "let get the fuck outta here" if u stay longer like in iraq, somalis would wopped u r white asses
The airstriek weren't to kill aideed dumbass they wer to kill high ranking officials and possibley Aideed, Aideed didn't have a HQ he had a gang anda city that whose people he murdered out abd was hidng in being the drug kingpin, Soivet back, Islamo-Commie fascist he was.
Firstly, learn written English before making a comment! The AC-130 airstrikes in June 1993 WERE an attempt to kill General Aideed and destroy his infrastructure which, failed badly as Aideed was at the time based in the 'Medina' area behind the old U.S. Embassy compound. As for being a 'drug kingpin', I don't think you can make ones millions from importing khat from Nairobi. Deltapunk indeed!
if somalia did become 1 der would be no army fukin wit us but so hard headed ppl like 2try so hard hawiyas cant seem 2get it if u cant beat da daroods join dumb hard headed animals i tell you
Your fcuking mom the prostitute inbreeded your white trash motha fcuker. I'll meet up with you anywhere, come at me bitch made ass white trash. Never talk about my people incest-infested imbecile piece of crap.
@TheUsuallSuspect ..how are you gonna meet me??...i bet ur inbred,u gotta be to make statements like that!!!! i got 2 of your people living on my landing, all they do is work illegally, break laws and generally engage in gay sex
Mustaf. If these pictures aren't real then I must have been on some pretty fucking good drugs to have invented them. If you know ANYTHING about South Mogadishu then 1). you should know the shot looking down on the Pak troops is the compound of the Sahafi Hotel at K4 and 2). the black and white shots of the AC130 Spectres explosions and the following daytime shots of the aftermath was Ali Osman Atto's "garage" where Aideed's 'technicals' were being made. I was certainly there, where were you????
Also Mustaf666, if you are such an "all knowing Somali", why not use your REAL name as I do, I don't need to hide behind stupid pseudonyms because I'm not the bullshitter here and you know that. If you were there then how about letting me know which night the AC130 Spectres started their strikes. Not tooooo difficult a question is it? I'm all ears!

The glory of the Black Market. And dying people's weapons. "Mog" is a hub of black market sales. Especially of weapons. Fire arms and ammunition grow on trees there.

There is no oil in somalia, so why should they stay there?
The USA just have to send lot of CIA agents to afganistan and kill the taliban step by step
WSAT1945 2 years ago
It wasn't 2000 US rangers. there were 25000 to 37000 American personel plus 25 other UN nations who contributed arms, intillegence and tactics.
They all withdraw, after 18 Americans and 24 Pakistans were killed within 24hrs.

The airstriek weren't to kill aideed dumbass they wer to kill high ranking officials and possibley Aideed, Aideed didn't have a HQ he had a gang anda city that whose people he murdered out abd was hidng in being the drug kingpin, Soivet back, Islamo-Commie fascist he was.
deltapunk21 3 years ago
Firstly, learn written English before making a comment! The AC-130 airstrikes in June 1993 WERE an attempt to kill General Aideed and destroy his infrastructure which, failed badly as Aideed was at the time based in the 'Medina' area behind the old U.S. Embassy compound. As for being a 'drug kingpin', I don't think you can make ones millions from importing khat from Nairobi. Deltapunk indeed!

mustaf666 3 years ago
I was certainly there, where were you????
jacavender 3 years ago
awsome video those apaches kick ass thanks and i love this song
Sion359 3 years ago
Also Mustaf666, if you are such an "all knowing Somali", why not use your REAL name as I do, I don't need to hide behind stupid pseudonyms because I'm not the bullshitter here and you know that. If you were there then how about letting me know which night the AC130 Spectres started their strikes. Not tooooo difficult a question is it? I'm all ears!
