A very interesting piece that defies concrete description. Definately hear the Chopin Etudes influence. The worst I could say is that it seems incomplete, as I expected a striking derivitive at the end. However, your technique is excellent and I liked the unexpectedness that forced me to forget everything else to absorb it all. I particularly enjoyed how you encorporated the old silent films villian theme repeatedly, but LOVED that you met my expectations at nearly every measure.

A sombre piece, grey but with silvery overtones in it... like the proverbial cloud with the silver lining, it's sad but has an optimistic sound to it too, specially in the unusual harmonies at around 6:00.
Lovely, Karl! I don't get a sense of "grey" - more indigo, like the photo you selected. There's a nice sprinkling of sparkle throughout this piece - rather like a sapphire! :)
