The civic's handling and performance at 268mph would be terrible, you would also have to do some serious weight reduction on the civic as well, making the interior very uncomfortable. Civic is not the best car to be tuned to 268mph.
How do we know that the nissan won? You can't tell from the video. The nissan got the jump because of the 4 wheel drive and the vette was spinning the tires through 2nd. Any way the vette would win in the long run due to areodynamics. It's like a box racing a bullet.

agreed completely i run fairly small displacement and hi revs in my sand car. aformentioned are a given of course. being all engines are basically an air pump. so flow of air as you know is the key. in any performance application. and the right tuner polishes it off . cheers !! bfb. the chevrolete ls series engine is making hp in incredible leaps and bounds these days. dont forget your history large displacement was outlawed in formula and stock car. by and large for reasons of to much power

first being nissan was originally datsun they were built in a country that developed fuel mileage minded desighns. america came from a different backround more centered around performance. the long life of stock japanese motors stems from better quality parts from the factory. i/e forged internals ect . when you go into modifying however all bets are off. thats why americam engines with nonstock parts are king

@Squidy214 In a quarter mile, which is what they are running in this vid it is possible. No way a Veyron is getting to top speed in that short distance. Standing quarter mile for a Veyron is around 10 seconds, and there are 10 second civics outs there. (Granted not practical, but neither is a Veyron) It all depends on what kind of race you are in, try running a Veyron in a rally, it would get smoked by 4 bangers with around 300HP simply because it would not hook up and get REAL tail happy.
nissan patrols beat ferraris, lambos, and porsches so its not a big deal these can be easily tuned to produce over 1000hp just like the cummins diesel in america (dodge ram 2500) and some chevy silverado 2500 duramax trucks

The ZO6 just needs drag radials. That patrol was definitely modified because they are not close to that fast stock obviously. Swap in a big turbo on anything and it will be fast. The GMC Syclone with the turbocharged 4.3 was real quick stock and have been single digits modified. We won't discuss Grand Nationals making over 1,000 hp from a V6.

Actually, the passenger seat is probably taken out and replaced with a HUGE intercooler. Under the hood, you'll also probably find another intercooler and a massive turbo. I've been to one shop in Ajman where they build these things. They are far from stock and only built for 1/4 mile. I'm talking 1000+HP.

The ZO6 just needs drag radials. That patrol was definitely modified because they are not close to that fast stock obviously. Swap in a big turbo on anything and it will be fast. The GMC Syclone with the turbocharged 4.3 was real quick stock and have been single digits modified. We won't discuss Grand Nationals making over 1,000 hp from a V6.

@Bearfootbob good comment, but its a nissan motor.. and just for my own clarity i did some research and i beleive the motor combo to be... rb33 block.. rb26 head.. dont know how or what vehicle had a rb33 block but when used with the 2.6 head makes unbelievable top end hp.. strictly drag motor.. no comprimise... !!! and of course america has fast motors for drag.. its A HUGE sport there isnt it.. but in my mind and many i know the,, nothing touches the 5 cylinder audi.. ultimate home build motor

Actually, the passenger seat is probably taken out and replaced with a HUGE intercooler. Under the hood, you'll also probably find another intercooler and a massive turbo. I've been to one shop in Ajman where they build these things. They are far from stock and only built for 1/4 mile. I'm talking 1000+HP.
Still though, it's pretty awsome beating a Z06
