Incredible! One of the best recording I have heard of Lamentations of Jeremiah!. Sopranos are full and sonorous, basses are low and dark. Fantastic work! I am rather biased with this song, though. I love Stroope. Great work ladies and gentlemen!
Amazing job! We sang this my sophomore year in high school as a contest piece. What a work of art! I've heard choirs do this, both good and bad, and you are definitely doing it right! This is one of those pieces of music that gives you goosebumps as both a performer and an audience member. ^_^
Basses dnt have nothinn on tenors!!.............Basses shouldve sung out more on the beginning............Lol.... My choir got a 100 rating when we sung this song...
Hahahaha. "I Love Being A Tenor" psssssh. We all know it's the Basses that makes this piece so lamentically delectable. Lose the primadona attitude. JkJkJk....but seriously. Awesome song, guys.
This choir is really good. The First "Ahhhhh" part which is sung 8 or 10 times is EXTREMELY difficult to keep on pitch, and while this choir does go off a little bit, they get right back on. i am singing this song in my choir, the tenors in this one are AMAZING. I think to truly appreciate this song you have to have sung it at least once. this. song. is. Epic.
1.the intro-the last "ahh" could be held maybe 2 more beats longer. cuz it just cuts off. what could happen is you make it tail into ovos omnes and let it come out of nowhere, instead here ist cuts off so u know something's gonna happen
2. each si est dolor could get slower each time. that would be sick!
I have to say that this was a stunning performance! My favorite composer is Z. Randall Stroope and I believe he is just an absolute genious! I performed this song 2 years ago for the Spivey Hall Honor Chorus at Clayton State and it was absolutely wonderful! Although I'm only in the 10th grade I do a little conducting myself and I'm always honored to conduct a Stroope masterpiece! GREAT JOB GUYS!!!
Amazing! Our choir did this song two years ago, and we didn't have nearly enough guys yo make it sound good. The pitch and blend were awesome. My only thing is that I am opposed to choirs using folders. If you haven't memorized your music, you aren't ready to perform.
i think the at the begining of the song the sapranos were WAY too shart and the girls seemed to overpower the guys during the begining. but other than that i think you guys really captured that punch that this song needs. it was good!
Good performance. I did this song my 12th grade year at All-State, and was conducted by Z. Randall Stroope. I must tell you that that man is a genius. My brother performed in in our high school choir, but it was the year after I left, but I'll try and find a recording of both. Great job guys!!!!!
Stroope is a genious. He directed the district choir i was in. we didn't do this one unfortunately, but we did the conversion of saul. it was intense.
i must tell you that i'm very jealous. we just started this song today but Z. Randall Stroope! Thats freakin' awesome! Songs are so much better when the composer directs them. Thats why i'm glad my director arranges a few hymns every now and then.
@theevmeister i personally i have extreme apprecitaion for this particular choir, they are balalnced and the alto part you can hear. But other than that i think they blend well. and they they are matching all their vowels, but other than that i think they are absolutely terrible, dispicable, corrupt and putrid performers. SUCK IT. D- GENERATION X!! RULES. Don't forget to unplug your microwaves people. This is NOT a chicken pot pie here!!
This is one of the better productions of this piece that I've heard here. They're paying serious attention to their tone, very crisp and articulate vowels, good dynamic variation, and really good intonation.
my choir is learning this now, it makes me want to switch from sop 2 to alto! i wanna sing that part so bad! hahaha
