I think that Anette is not bad singer . Shes good, but not perfect. Tarja has got a cassical voice, very briliant and more fhasionable for this music and her performances were more energy for people. I dlike to see Tarja, singing a song Amaranth. Anett singing this song wery nice but i think that singing in Nightwish is a big battle for her ... because we know that Tarja was the only one for us. :-* good luck Anett
The rest of the band needs to let go of their unjustified pride and try to get Tarja back, after all, the reason NightWish came into being was because the band tried to back Tarja up with acoustics and then had to go electric. (Thus creating the sound that put them on the map.)

Well holy fucking shit, as much of an AO supporter/fanboi I am, I thought Tarja's version would have been leagues ahead. After hearing this I think they're both fairly equal (aka FUCKING EXCELLENT). This just reaffirms my love for Anette :D :D

Not as terrible as I thought it would be. Should've sung an octave lower at the beggining and couldn't done without all the 'woahhh's' at the end though.
It's frustrating that virtually every old Nightwish song contains notes that are out of Anette's vocal range. (In fact, I've even seen her dodge the high spots in some DPP songs during live performances.)
That said, this is one of the songs where the downgrade in vocalists is most bearable. Unsurprising, since this song is very much like The Poet and the Pendulum, where Anette also shines.
Also, pretty love the beginning when one screams "Ghost Love Score", and just then it arrives with crowd going crazy. No need to say it's one of the greatest songs ever made.
I love Anette sings "Ghost love score"! Her beautiful voice fits perfectly for this song - one of my favourites. I think, that she sings here much better than Tarja and I don't understand, why people hate her.

Toumas and the staff who do the set list to play live killed the song, anette just sing it live, she doesn't care about the song (musically talking), if she can sing this, she'll do... and in the rehearsal she did it very well to consider to play it live...

A quick question for you: Have you listened to Kuolema Tekee Taiteilijan with Anette? While I have nothing against her, I think that her rendition butchered the piece because of the languague shift. Therefore, please stop comparing them over something like pronunciation and accent, they both have their flaws.

@Alschain If you mean the performance when she sang it with the orchestra in Sweden (I forgot the name), that was a concert with a lot of Finnish guests and it was thought of as a welcome gesture to have a Swedish singer perform a song in Finnish. Noone cared that her Finnish was bad, it was the thought and effort that counted.

let's look at the big picture. nowadays she does great shows, the fans love her, she loves being in the band and they havent had any trouble this year. the trouble in the beginning was unavoidable, and trust me with al the things she got thrown at her in the beginning its safe to say she can handle the metalworld. there;s never been a rule that says some voices can be in metal, dont be such a box-thinker.
there are images that fit certain profiles, there's no denying, but if you let that decide your judgement you're just closeminded. and if you think tuomas lets his writing get influenced by the MTV-genereation you don't know anything about what nightwish stands for:P. btw, their new style of music attracts less people, and tuomas said he doesnt mind, as he feels mroe comftable doing smaller concerts cause that way he has a bigger connection with the crowd. bands always change, to keep it fresh.
first of all learn about music and next you can criticize, nightwish is not and have never been gothic metal, and anette was in a hard rock band before nightwish a lot of people loves anette and i think she is perfect with nightwish if you dont like her just dont listen to her

Wow this was amazing, I never thought that Annette will sing this song, because I think it´s very complicated, but she did and she did wonderfully, she gave another sense, a different feeling to the song, it was like another beautiful song, it was really amazing and wonderful to hear this song in voice of Annete, the boys were obviously sublime.

I saw them last night. I didn't really know any Nightwish songs before (I knew one song from the entire show :D), but I think Annette's voice fits perfectly to these songs. I loved them, it was a fantastic concert! :)
the first few verses are just amazing. she doesnt sing like that for any of the other songs. they should really consider doing that kinda voice for the next album! but that might make ghost love score less special :P
I hope they do this song in the festival season so that we can see televised versions on youtube. This is definitely the best quality Anette version of GLS that I've seen on here, though.

you just don't understand. It's just not the same. With Tarja, this song was perhaps one of the greatest songs of all time because it was set apart from all other songs. Now, it's just another 10 minute epic. It's still a great song and I have nothing against Anette. In fact I love her as part of Nightwish but they seem to be a whole new band now. It almost seems like a cover version of the song.

Either Tarja's or Anette's version, this song should clearly be in the Hall Of Fame. Maybe Anette sings it a little faster, but she has better pronunciation and that's not really bad to hear. Well done for this one :)

People who don't understand the song they loose themselves in stupid details. The point is to feel the song.
The singing since 1:20 is pretty good for the meaning of the song. Also it's live.
tarja's pronunciation ruins everything in this song and of course vibrato And Tarja's voice sounds pretty annoying live. (see over the hills and far away live. bad pronunciation + annoying voice.
But a nice performance for a rock vocal :)
Nightwish wanted to change. And anette is the best one.

form 8:30 to the end it seems to not have double bass pedal and it may be because of sound qualitiy but i thing thats still groovy more than with the triplet on the DB ... hum ??

I'm sorry but if you don't get chills when the singer say "redeam me...ect" then the singer is doing it wrong - case in point. This is a very watered down version of a powerful song :(

Annettes a good enough singer to be able to handle this song i truly believe this, she just needs to stop trying to copy tarja, if she had sung this in her own vocal range a bit lower down the scale it would have sounded beautiful :)

The problem is not the dress. The voice, style, stage presence, show that she is a person who is made a career in the wrong area.
She as a pop singer or Rock was very good, but for metal / gothic, that it is not her gender.

let's look at the big picture. nowadays she does great shows, the fans love her, she loves being in the band and they havent had any trouble this year. the trouble in the beginning was unavoidable, and trust me with al the things she got thrown at her in the beginning its safe to say she can handle the metalworld. there;s never been a rule that says some voices can be in metal, dont be such a box-thinker.

there are images that fit certain profiles, there's no denying, but if you let that decide your judgement you're just closeminded. and if you think tuomas lets his writing get influenced by the MTV-genereation you don't know anything about what nightwish stands for:P. btw, their new style of music attracts less people, and tuomas said he doesnt mind, as he feels mroe comftable doing smaller concerts cause that way he has a bigger connection with the crowd. bands always change, to keep it fresh.

I just don't get it... Annette has a good voice and it can't be compared with Tarja's since their singing to completely different genres. But why in Gods name can't Annette stay to the mainstream/rock like song? This seriously sounds like crap... Annette can't sing opera, that's for sure.
The part that starts with "a siren from the deep" sounds good though, because she's singing with her own voice and not trying to copy Tarja.

Wow this was amazing, I never thought that Annette will sing this song, because I think it´s very complicated, but she did and she did wonderfully, she gave another sense, a different feeling to the song, it was like another beautiful song, it was really amazing and wonderful to hear this song in voice of Annete, the boys were obviously sublime.

I hope they do this song in the festival season so that we can see televised versions on youtube. This is definitely the best quality Anette version of GLS that I've seen on here, though.
