  • Starting my first greenhouse this year and was so glad to find this video, beautiful!

  • crazy good brother!

  • @paulgem123 LOL....thank ya sir !

  • nice video, well done, wish more would do this rather than food stamps,

I give away 1,000 packs of seed yearly to kids, but few ever get grown.

    keep safe

  • @donze52 Thanks. I hear what you're saying. The young folks just aren't interested in this. Hopefully they wake up before its too late.

  • looking good

  • @coyoteewater Thank you.

  • @mhpgardener i find your vids inspirational -after i watch one i get twice as much work done inside my greenhouse

  • Is chinamart the really the name of a store near you or are you changing the name to protect the guilty I don't know how come I didn't see this video last month but the greenhouse is looking great

  • @MarshmallowVogt LOL...its the universal name given to the worlds largest retailer.

  • Such an inspiration. It must feel so satisfying to see the results of all your planning and hard work. Keep the videos coming, I look for new ones often.

  • @ameetpinto Thanks. Yes, its satisfying and gratifying to be able to do something today, a reap the rewards over and over. But you have to work hard today, to have anything to reap tomorrow. ;-)

  • @mamaj1013 Yes it is ! Gonna be planting outside in about 5 weeks.

  • WOW!!! Your greenhouse looks fantastic!!!!

  • @oaktreega Thank you mam ! ;-)

  • Excellent Work!

  • @surviveandthrivetv Thank you much !

  • thanks Bobby I just finished another planter, I will do a video soon. I have those Diva seeds going and I will let you know how they do...thanks 4 that. what you're doing in the green house is so awesome it should be on a TV garden show. It is really cool. Thanks 4 sharing..

  • @SteveHarpster Building more furniture huh? hehe..... You have one of the prettiest setups I've ever seen. Simply beautiful...and productive.

  • It's beautiful!!!

  • @woringersteve Thank you, I agree !

  • I'd be dern proud too..:)

  • You should be proud , hell im proud of you , everythings looking great...!!!

  • @bowhunter2439 LOL....that makes me feel even better.

  • Looking great, god willing I'll have a greenhouse of some kind this year. With such a short growing season I need something. I've learned so much from your videos.

  • @Unclebobs2 Thx, season extension is one of the biggest reasons for a GH or hoophouse. It allows you to grow things that you normally wouldnt be able to. I hope you're able to get a GH real soon. I'm sure you'd enjoy it. I know I do. :-)

  • Once again such hard work and the growing of more than just plants. I'm sure your glad the hardest part is completed and now the reaping part starts. I just finally planted my seeds better late than never. Blessings!

  • @BexarPrepper You are correct. I am very glad that the hardest part is done. Now I just have to figure out how to make this stuff grow, then we might be able to reap a little bit. I do have some corn that has come up, making my first squash and zukes. I see a cuke forming. Picked a handful of strawberries today. Tomatoes growing like crazy. Cabbage starting to head, lettuce is insane.... I'm trying ! Thanks friend, take care. ;-)

  • It looks fabulous!

  • @tabtui Thank you !

  • You take such care in every project you do, nothing looks rushed or unfinished. Thanks for telling me about the different nutrientlevels in soilmixes

  • @neuroleptika LOL... I'm American..no Russian (rushing) around here. :-) Its hard for things to looked rushed when I'm so slow and methodical. Slow as grandmas molasses at times. ;-)

  • Looks spectacular Bobby! Great work... Think you'll be growing monsters in no time (hears theme from Rock Horror Picture Show)

  • @Watsamadoing Thank you mam. Yep..they're getting on up there. Gonna be 10 ft tall in no time. :-)

  • I know worms are great for outside gardens, is that something that would be worth adding to your raised beds? Rock dust amendment...what do you think about it? Have you considered topping off a raised bed with wood chips Back to Eden style or covering in plastic to retain moisture?

Lemme know when you want a micro helicopter to fly in that plant hangar of yours. I can hook you up!

  • @mediamaker2000 The worms are doable. Rock dust? I've never used it but I hear its some good stuff. Gonna keep wood chips outside for now, at least until I figure out exactly what the final grow setup will be in the GH. Once the tomatoes are 10 ft tall, and loaded...we can do the helicopter thing. Then it will be Attack of the Killer Tomatoes ! It should make for quite a mess.

  • That place is shaping up nicely. How many of those raised beds will you have in that greenhouse? I see the next greenhouse from mhp with a door big enough to get a tractor in and out of it! lol

  • @cfenster I have 9 beds that are 4 x 5, and that long one that is 2 x 50. I dunno about a 3rd one. This one would have to start making a profit to justify the expense. Not to mention the time factor. I haven't been able to clone myself yet.

  • Your greenhouse is so stinking cool!

  • @GaryMule LOL...thank you !

  • Looks great

  • Bro., if I had one of your hands, I'd cut both of mine off! LOL Mighty fine work! (and I do mean WORK!) I bet you could drop a hubcap in one of those beds, and grow a Buick!

  • @BoondockFarms LOL... Please put down the knife and step away from the table sir ! Hahaha.... I'd like to try it with a Ford.....maybe try to grow a new F250 !

  • Thanks for posting.

    I enjoyed it.

Can't wait to see pretty red maters.

  • @czyhrs They're coming. I should have some by March 1st...hope so anyways. ;-)

  • wow impressive Brother im still the little eng. that could cant wait to share some photes with ya lol might be next year but im steady at it

  • @MarinePrepper LOL...the little engine.. thats me too. Slow and steady gets it done for me. Looking forward to those pics.... do I have to buy a magazine to see them ? They'll probably be so nice that you'll be published. ;-)

  • Bobby do you prefer perlite over vermiculite ? Also how do you feel about worm castings? looks like a greenhouse would be a perfect worm bed... great video....

  • @Teddybearcop48 So far, I'd say perlite. The verm that I have is real fine grain, whereas the perlite is much more coarse. I'm using it to loosen the soil, and try to get better aeration. Yea...I'm seeing lots of folks doing the worms. I haven't gotten to it yet.

  • You are amazing...beautiful.

  • @boat6868 Thanks !

  • If my future GH looks just 10% as good as yours, I'd be ecstatic! Great Job!!! Interesting info on the potting soil, I never paid any attention to that.

  • @Learning2homestead 10% ? I'm sure it'll be beautiful, just like your garden. :-)

  • you are one working guy!

  • @richard1948benz I have my moments. ;-)

  • Looks great!

  • @jimhuntermj21 Thx Jim.

  • looking awesome :-)

  • @MrVTHILLBILLY Not bad for a farm boy..not bad at all. :-)

  • Just what is it, about seeing all those plants, and all that rich soil, that stirs our very souls? For me it's a feeling of being close to God's creation. To think, we're here, still planting from His original gift to us all. It's about the origianal Creation of the garden, and the seeds that become plants, a gift of life. I see the end photo of your greenhouse, and I have to be awed by looking at God's creation, still here with us, right in our own back yards. A place to Praise and be thankful

  • @Sheila6325 I agree Sheila, its all about the seeds. The seeds of life, the seeds of words, the seeds of good deeds, the seeds of produce. The more "seeds" that we can plant and nurture, the greater the harvest. Truly an amazing concept.

  • Looks good Bro ! Been workin' your butt off I see.

Be sure and film the outside gardens too. I'm interested in watching someone else deal with the hard clay, like I'm having to do.

    :)

  • @texasprepper2 Yes sir... My clay looks a little better each year. Might try some no till stuff this year, just to keep from turning up that really red stuff. I have a few ideas, gonna try some new things.

  • Awesome! i cant wait to see production, it will be huge im sure. Congrats on an outstanding greenhouse operation.

  • @Hard2HandleRandall Me too. Gonna be cool seeing tomatoes hanging there 5-6 ft high, loaded down...hopefully ! Thank you.

  • Greenhouse is comin along! I'll be honest, I didn't expect it to look that professional and as good as it looks right now. Thumbs up!

  • @Stohz LOL...I wasn't sure either. I had an idea what I wanted, but wasn't quite sure of the final outcome. I think it turned out just fine. :-)

  • Wow it belongs in a gardening magazine! You did a beautiful job!

  • @Socksee Haha... that would be cool. Having my little homemade GH in a featured in a magazine. :-)

  • nice mate!

  • @BirmzWeedhead Thank you much!

  • Wow,amazing job,nice tips,,I hope next year I can make a smaller version of yours.Thank you again,.so much for the tips,God bless.

  • @up2nonwo Thanks. I hope you get one built. I'd love to see what you come up with.

  • Only one thing is bothering me witht he amendments. Did you do a soil test of some sort before you added the lime? pH levels are kinda important. Adding lime or sulfur w/o a soil test is kinda scary, imo. You can buy a cheap kit to test pH and NPK levels at your local nursery or even at some Walmart stores.

  • @MrRedNeckParadise Fair observation. Thats why I couldn't advise someone earlier to add lime to their soil. This property was cleared and most of the top soil pushed off. I've found that I have trouble with BER in places that I don't lime. I now apply lime to all my gardens in the fall, and have no problem with BER. So I pretty much treated the inside of the GH the same way. I do use a cheap 3prong tester...not the best, but it gets me close. Thanks. :-)

  • @mhpgardener Yeah, once you get close, the compost and organics pretty much take care of the rest. In my soil, I have to add sulfur, gypsum and peat. pH is a bit high, here. I use a 'multi-pronged' approach to get what I think is a better balance than by using one product or one manufacturer. I also add some of my own compost, too, of course. Looks like you do about the same thing.

  • Man... You got it going on there!

Talk about being able to produce the 'produce'.

  • @pilgrimfarmer Haha..looking to produce a ton of "produce", and then some. ;-)

  • That is a fantastic job!

    Best Wishes, Brendan.

  • @baconsoda Thx Brendan.... I'm pretty happy with it myself.

  • OK! My turn! I want one just like you. lol SUPER SPECTACULAR JOB!

  • @TheCajuntransplant LOL..thank you mam! :-)

  • A lot of work but the end product is a work of art. I see you are using the large square house fans I plan to put one of those over the vent in the back wall of mine, are they variable speed? Don't know why I care I plan to run it wide open anyway.

  • @dalecalder2003 Yes sir, these are 3 speed box fans..I think they were $17 or so, very cheap. They don't move the air like a big commercial fan would, but its sufficient I think.

  • Hey Bobby, I have a question. I have no greenhouse. Can I start my seedlings inside now even though our growing season dont start til around May? thats almost 3 months under a light. Thanks.

  • @keith19692 3 months is a long time to hold them back. It really depends on just what you had in mind. Cucurbits would be out of the question this early.

  • Looks great...Me and dad are thinking about building a greenhouse. I hope ours is as good as yours when we get done.

  • @TheClownCentral Thx, I hope ya'll get one built soon. I'm sure you'd enjoy it very much.

  • Looking great!

  • @Kirkmcquest thank you !

  • Start including Biochar into your soil mixture.

  • @MrSchpankme I've heard of it, but don't know much about it.

  • I just LOVE it. It looks great and I want to be your neighbor too! lol Thanks for the update.

  • @loislaney23 Move on out this way....I promise I'll be a good neighbor !

  • Very nice Bobby.....impressive set up in there now.....I have never thought to look at the make up of potting mix....Thanks for the info on that.....Boxes look great......Once again.....I love your set up....I can't wait to get me something like your GH going.....Just won't be able to park a Cessna in mine....LOL....Thanks as always for the info and motivation.....Tim

  • @timjturner Thx Tim. Have you decided what to replace the cover on your GH with?

  • thats going to be one awesome sight when everything is growing inside no matter what its still hanger 18 in my book lol

  • @MajorRager76 Yea man.. looking forward to seeing it all green, from top to bottom. Hangar 18 doesnt sound too bad. :-)

  • that's some great work......what do you do with all food...farmer market ?

  • @pinetar100 I've been giving a lot of it away. Gonna have a lot more this year, so probably gonna try the local market, at least early on when nobody else has anything.

  • Looks beautiful Bobby!!!! Very informative!!

  • @itsjustdeb579 Thanks Deb.

  • You have put a whole lot of work in there. You should have plenty of veges coming out of your green house real soon.

  • @TheProductiveGarden Yes indeed, lots of "work" in there. Hopefully things produce accordingly. ;-)

  • Great Planning and Design! With this mild winter you've got a Win-Win situation! Keep the good works goin'!

  • @IndianaPlanter And perfect timing too. Last winter was brutal here. Theres no way that I could have pulled this off if we'd had the same situation this winter. But this year has been very warm. For whatever reason, things just seem to work out for me.....over and over. Aside from simply being blessed, I can't explain it. Thanks. :-)

  • Fantastic :)

  • @HalfQ Cool ! :-)

  • It would take a hot tub to stew all the tomatoes you're gonna get, that looks like one high speed operation.

  • @rubbernecker13 LOL... hopefully I don't get stuck having to cook all these things. That would be a very bad deal !

  • Your Green House is almost as sexy as a Woman lol! I picked up 4 huge fruit crates to use as raised beds for our new house. It's going to be some work to get those things filled up with good compost but I'm excited! Can't wait to see your Juicey Tomatoes for 2012

  • @sumip90x LOL... wow. No wonder I spend so much time out there! Do ya'll have as much space as the other house? That was an awesome backyard that ya'll had fixed up, just a beautiful garden.

  • WOW! You should be very proud.

  • @road2health I is, I is......I mean, I am ! :-)

  • We bow to the might Greenhouse King ! Outstanding job. Thanks for the video.

  • @bassone1000 LOL...theres some folks out there that make mine look like childs play. Hopefully they'll be posting videos this year. I still have a lot to learn. :-)

  • Motivates me to keep planting. I just called our local nursery and peppers and tomatoes are in!! I will be planting my garden Monday!

  • @suprsleep Woohoo....Its still about 4-5 weeks before I plant anything outside. Enjoy yourself out there playing in the dirt ! :-)

  • It's looking great and you make it look so easy... Soil is definitely #1and I've learned that the hard way all I can do now is try and improve what I've got : )

  • @Planting81 Hehe... trick photography makes it look easy ! But you're right...its all about the soil. Get that right and the plants will do quite well.

  • Very Nice!

  • @VivaLasVeggies Thanks !

  • Boy you’ve got that GH fixed up nice. You should get a ton of vegetables out of there……Donald

  • @webcajun Yes sir. I've come a long ways. Looking for a serious increase in this years production too.

  • I do not know what you do for a living but it must pay a load. How do you get rid of all that food. I know you give a lot of it away but you are about to grow the mother load!

  • @noshoes Haha... it pays enough to cover the bills, very far from a "load". I usually give it away. But with so much extra this year, if things go well, I'll try to sell some at the local market.

  • Looks great, I'm sure you will be Blessed with an abundant harvest for all your efforts, I was going to say hard work but if it's something you truly love to do it's not really work.. right?

  • @rchopp I think gardening is like life in general, you get out of what you put in to it. And you're right. Its not really work if you enjoy doing it. Its a labor of love ! ;-)

  • Good advice on the store bought potting mixes and composts.

Usually, if you adds lots of oranic material to almost any soil, you can't go too far wrong, but with store bought? Yeah, you gotta pay attention or you'll over do it or under do it. (Good job with the perlite, too.) Good job there.

I might be biased, 'cause it's almost exactly what I'm doing with all the beds in my outside garden. :)

  • @MrRedNeckParadise I'm still working on obtaining as much leaf mulch and manure as I can get. It really speeds up the soil building process. Some folks don't recommend perlite in-ground, but I wanted to aerate the soil as best I could. That clay will bind up fairly quick. Once this crop is finished and I till in some more compost, it should be much better.

  • @mhpgardener Careful with the manure. It has a LOT of nitrogen in it. I'm planning on adding some perlite to my own clay, but I'll be adding more peat and some gypsum, too. Plus, I'll throw in some more coarse grained sand. Don't add sand until after you've added organics and compost, first. Some don't want to add sand to clay, and if you don't add it in the right order, more or less at the right time, it IS a bad idea. Add sand to clay w/o organics and you've got problems...

  • Wow, that is going to work great Bobby. It is a lot of work for me to put together and fill just one 4x4 bed. You did the whole thing no problem.

  • @XhanaLabs You're right. It takes a fair amount of time and effort to fill and mix raised beds. I didn't try to do them all at one time. I did half, then worked my way down the side. Thanks.

  • Bobby: First class job on the inside of the GH. You are exactly right on digging out those beds. It use to be called double dig-french intensive gardening. You have to treat them like a perennial bed, you just get one shot at making them right. Thanks for the videos!

  • @navajopa31 Thank you sir. I tried to incorporate the original soil as much as possible. Do it once, do it right....and have no regrets !

  • You should be Bobby - that's absolutely beautiful!!! Good job! You'll love those raised beds... I was thinking of you today - I started those 'old girl rutgers' seeds you sent me - I hope to get them in the ground in my gh mid march... I'll be eager to see how they do up here... M

  • @MelodeeRose I'm using one of the beds to start plants...broccoli, cauli, and cabbage. Its a lot easier than seed trays.I hope those seeds do as well as the Heinz that you sent me. :-)

  • Everything looks awesome Bobby! Dang, I sure wish I was your neighbor.. I would be over there everyday in that greenhouse! lol. I hope to have one sometime... and I will spent all my time there, haha.

  • @TheOntarioGardener Thx Jake. Its paradise in there compared to the snow that ya'll have been getting. So warm its almost hot. :-)

  • "Wow" that is really super! I bet you get some fantastic results. That soil is really worked up and full of compost and elements I am very happy for you. It is pretty neat to watch you progress. What should I add to my garden soil this year besides the usual banana lettuce orange peels, egg shells and coffee grounds that i throw into it oh yeah lots of leaves from my maples. should I put some lime in its or buy some nitrogen grains from the feed store? should I add some pet moss? manure?

  • @shartne Whoa...lots of questions. If its producing well, I'd just keep adding all the organic stuff from the kitchen and compost. Its kinda hard for me to recommend adding lime or nitrogen without having some idea of the current levels. You could get a soil test done and find out for sure. I go with the basics, then let the plants tell me what they need, if that makes sense.

  • Great job brother, every time I watch your videos I get motivated to build or plant something. Keep up the good work and don't stop filming your progress, what you do inspires a lot of people.

  • @dsstroyer Thanks. I'm the same way. I just gotta be doing something all the time. Especially when I have a new idea...I can't sleep for thinking about it !

  • Great video as always. Thanks for the information about the soil.

  • @ncfaith88 Thank you. I try to share what I'm seeing and learning, so maybe folks won't make the same mistakes. I make enough for everyone ! LOL

  • Fine job you did there!!! Turned out really nice.

  • @dustyanderson1 Yes sir, not bad for a country boy !

  • looking good

  • you should be mighty proud of your efforts, I was hoping you would show it again at the end lol. You have done a fantastic job!!!!

  • @amarien82 LOL...yea, I just had to have another look. In 30 days you wont recognize it though. Things will have grown so much. Thank you. ;-)

  • You are so organized! Thanks for the soil info! Your greenhouse is looking fantastic!

  • @FreidasGarden Organized? My wife would say otherwise. I have stuff scattered everywhere. thanks !

  • looking great!

  • @KingRyltar Thank you sir !

  • You should be proud! You did an AWESOME job. Your greenhouse is a beauty. Have you ever told us how much money you have put into this present gardening system? It looks like MEGA dollars.

  • @dkulikowski Thank you. The last time I sat down to go over the numbers, the cost on this GH was gonna be between 4 and 5 K, at least 4500 and probably closer to 5. Its heavy duty for sure, and cost a lot less than a typical GH or high tunnel of the same size. I'm very pleased with the end result. :-)

  • Your rocking it buddy great job.....

  • @MrJohnhunt1 I'm trying ! thanks.

  • Hey Bobby, man do you ever sleep, looks like you worked thru all 3 shifts.Another job well done.See ya.

  • @TheSemperfidude I slept 8 hours straight a couple nights ago. It was so warm I didn't have to heat the GH. Just amazing for January. I aint complaining though ! ;-)

  • Awesome hoophouse and gardens.

  • @pval123 Thanks !

  • Awesome!!

  • @Thesmalltowngardener Not too shabby !

  • Looks great! I'm jealous...haha

  • @The806Traveler Thanks. :-)

  • Awesome greenhouse.. only thing wrong with it... it's not in my back yard!

  • @bradgray51 Haha.... a tornado could fix that ! Wouldn't be the first time one has come thru here.

  • Do you use mostly heirlooms or gmo's? Cant get enough of your vids. by the way. Awesome job on the greenhouse.

  • @keith19692 I grow heirloom/OP's and hybrids. I couldn't grow any GMO stuff if I wanted to. Its not available to small gardeners, only the big time farmers. Way too much money and paperwork involved for them to sell to the common folk. Out of curiosity, I checked with my local dealer, and was told flat out NO ! Thank you. :-)

  • 2nd layer on the cake :-) looking good.

  • @marthale7 Haha..its settled a bit and could use a 3rd layer now. :-)
