this was one of the better sci fi era sketches, but you have to admit that they just didn't seem to care about sketches the way they did on the comedy channel. for the most part.
I love the smattering of applause when Brain Guy comes out, Pearl's huge press-on nails, lustrous love must rise, basically everything about this sketch.
Is it just me or is this an amazing song?? I sense the hand of Michael J Nelson in there! Then the lines 'I really do like pie' and ' I know a couple of guys' crack me up so much!
@bastlake after determining it wasn't a painted prop (it has labeling), it isn't white but rather beige and noticing it doesn't have a professional XLR cord hanging from it (the kinks in it are the giveaway), i determined it's a Labtec AM-22 computer microphone- an $8 junk microphone! full audio nerd in that answer.
Woo! I love Bobo's attempts at sing Asia songs. "Heat of the Moment" in this episode. And his Trumpeting the opening of "Only Time Will Tell" at the end of "Riding With Death" (look it up).
They also sing Asia songs at the end of "Puma Man".
this is such a great song.i love when she looks dead into the camera, and then the observer just strolls out lol.
And i agree with a poster below,i wonder how many times they had to do this, especialy when they get like three inches away from each others face.I know if my friend and i did that wed be bursting into laughter
But i love this.Pearl is a surprisingly good singer.
This sketch is one of the main reasons that I never understood the people who claimed the Sci-Fi era host segments were in some way weaker.
Everything about this is perfect, from the music to the lyrics to the performances of Bill and Mary Jo. (It ALWAYS kills me when she looks straight at the camera earnestly with "It's Love!" at 0:52 and "But Then!" at 1:01.)
@doggans Agree. I love the Comedy central era, but the Sci-fi era was just as good. Plus the robots and clay figures puppet show from Screaming Skull remains my favorite host sketch ever.
Up there with the best songs from this show, and that's saying alot. I've heard so many crap songs that this is based on, and this is ten times more entertaining...if I ever get married, I want this sung there....
God, I love this skit. It was my second favorite host moment - the first being when Crow and Servo put on a clay figure show to work out their anger at the robot-murders in a Gumby short. Hee!
I know a couple of guys, I...
