@QwaarJet it sounds like a deprest lazer...or Invisible beams of electromagnetic energy that could see further than the human eye, the great british secret weapon RADAAR!
This video is the Mitchell and Webb one that I've laughed at the most because the highest rated comments weren't dickheads quoting (and spoiling) the punchline, voted up by other unimaginative dickheads.
All the sketches about filming and theater issues so clearly reflect experiences that they've had... this sort of thing, while not to this extent, is a part of the process that is completely obscured by their unbelievability to captivate one's attention from the very beginning of even the simplest of their sketches to the end.
This is a satire of all those TV historians (the king of whom is the ultra-posh Dan Cruickshank) who think that by waving their hands around it makes what they are saying SO much more interesting. This affectation can be seen throughout the media and became particularly fashionable with politicians in the 90s in order to show their "sincerity". Obviously the idea originated from the PR/psychology industry in the USA. The master of this is Tony "I'm a pretty straight kinda guy" Blair.
Is this a cheap shot at James Burke?
