Hey thanks for posting this - but I learned tonight that all you need to do now to rip youtube is download the beta version of mpegstreamclip. It's very easy to just walk through the app and rip.

The items in the activity window are all the items currently being rendered by your browser, the more windows you have open the more things will pop up in the activity window. They are collapsable, which means you can click the triangle on the left side of the window to hide and unhide each page's items.

which file extension do i save the file as? isquint will say error while opening the file. (i think its because my mac automatically saves it as.html)

@purplydreamz use mpegstreamclip. it is free, it works great. some youtube videos will now just download directly to a mp4 file, if not it's most likely a .flv file, so rename it to that.

no worries! download mpegstreamclip! it works just fine. it's also free. just open the file with that, and go to file>export.

My Activity window does not show URL addresses!

It only shows the name of the site, sort of like the History menu.

I called Apple care and they had no answer for me.

I own a Mac OS X Version 10.5.2 Leopard.

Have they removed this feature in the new Leopard? If yes,

then how do I do the rip off on this model?

It took a 2nd call to Apple Care and 10 min of trying to convince them that yes, the url should be shown in the Activity window. Finally they noticed those gosh darn little arrows and we all felt foolish. hee, hee.
