Where the hell has this been all my life. I took me 3 months of singing for a Progressive Metal band to actually take the time to listen to other Prog-Metal artists besides Dream Theater. I listen to all the music before this and I Pain of Salvation has not seize to feed my ears. I want more and more after every song!
@w7class Me too. I seriously hope they'll go back to the pre-Scarsick sound now that this "Road Salt Sequence" is over... maybe with The Perfect Element III, if they actually make it.
@stormcorrosion The first 5 albums are absolutely brilliant, where could that creativity possibly have gone? Usually when bands change styles, they don't go back. So if they did make The Perfect Element III next, it would most likely be Scarsick II.
Fantastic album. I can see how it may have alienated some of the fanbase, but whatever. You never accomplish anything special by repeating yourself. As for the production quality, it fits the scope of the album perfectly. In fact, I'd say if the production was modern and clear...it wouldn't have been so successful.
Like almost every song on every PoS album... you learn to love them all. Only those who haven't developed such an acquired taste in music would not be able to understand the true beauty of PoS.
@MrNesk04 For me PoS have taken a step back musically. Great atmosphere, sound and vocals in Pain of salvation standards, but the music is so boring, but leo, the new drummer gives it alot of spirit. I did and still do call most of the album crap.
But I still listen to it close to as much as the other albums, something is wierd with its captivating power to make you wanna listen again, no matter how much you hate it.
@xNauticus the melodies on this one are still phenomenal, but this is supposed to be like something from the 70's - so the music is a bit "raw", accordingly. something to just accept, ignore if you don't like it, i guess.
I somehow find Daniels vocals pretty annoying on the new record on some of the songs, especially on the ballads, and the band has certainly changed, but i respect them for it somehow and maybe i just have to listen to it more, so far i like the more rockish songs like Innosence and No Way, maybe the ballads then will come :)
great song

I respect PoS for it's past work and for this song and Sisters in this album. The rest of Road Salt One and Linoleum songs are crap. Sorry.
