  • Aaah my sweet childhood...

  • Genesis version is like an NES version.

  • Man The beginning stage is intense. Music Feels like shit was going down , goes straight to beating the crap out of the first dude.

  • Yay the Sega Genesis How Cool. it was much more impressive on the Nintendo 8-Bit system because They Both look exactly the same The Sega Genesis is supposed to be able to do this not the N.E.S. Rare was able to pull off some trickery with the N.E.S. but this is how All Sega Genesis games were supposed to look...in my opinion nothing special.

  • @Ahmadu100 Stop talking shit. The Mega Drive could pull of far prettier visuals than this.

  • @jacksprat1990 How?Tell me how,The Genesis didn't have Mode-7 The Super Nintendo had Mode-7 If the visuals look the same for both systems then how was the Genesis 16-Bit?O.K. technically it was 16-Bit but It couldn't do anything,I mean there were companies pulling off trickery for the N.E.S. 'Battletoads"was just 1 title but there were others like"Kirby","Vice Project Doom",Teenage Mutant ninja turtles the arcade game""Faxanadu""The Guardian Legend"Beautiful, for the Genesis all that was a given.

  • @Ahmadu100 Who's comparing to the SNES? That wasn't the argument. Check out Vectorman, Gunstar Heroes, Alien Soldier, Contra - Hard Corps, Dynamite Headdy, CastleVania Bloodlines, Toy Story just to name a few. Stop talking shit and have a look at games that weren't ports of NES games to judge how powerful the Mega Drive was.

  • @jacksprat1990 The games I named were for the regular Nintendo 8-Bit system but if you wanna talk SNES then look at "Starfox" with the FX Chip & "Donkey Kong Country",compare "Mortal Kombat 1,2&3"to the Genesis ports Sega falls flat,Compare"Vectorman"for both systems & you will agree with me that Nintendo rules!Genesis was built to beat the NES which it did kinda' but the SNES prevailed, but in their defense the Sega Master System was a technologically superior 8-Bit system but Sega still lost!

  • @Ahmadu100 What the fuck are you going on about now? You were comparing the NES and the Mega Drive in the first place. Basically saying the Mega Drive's graphics aren't much better than the NES. Also, the Sega Virtua Processor is far more advanced than the Super FX chip. You're as thick as pig shit and a very stupid fanboy (as they usually are). Stop talking. You're making yourself sound like a complete twat.

  • @jacksprat1990 First of all what are you getting so upset about? We are having a friendly discussion.Secondly No,the Mega Drive was built to be better but it couldn't do much it had a powerful processor(Motorolla 68,000)but it had very little functions The SNES on the other hand had a plethora of functions so when you compare games like "Teenage mutant Ninja turtles Hyper stone Heist"for the Genesis as opposed to "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Turtles in Time"for the SNES the difference is clear.

  • @jacksprat1990 Y'know friend there is a game for the Sega Genesis called "Pier Solar"in cartridge format that has Mode-7 programming built into it that game costs no less than $200.00 on Amazon and $300.00 on Ebay(2011)Why you ask?Because the Genesis Couldn't do Mode-7 by itself. The SNES had Mode-7 in all it's games it was a standard requirement, the SNES had 8 different modes built-in whereas the Genesis had none, with Nintendo you get more for your money,SNES also had "Doom"a 32-Bit CD era game.

  • @Ahmadu100 I'm not debating SNES vs Mega Drive you complete and utter fucking moron. Please just shut the fuck up, you obviously don't understand English.

  • @jacksprat1990 Then all I'm saying is that "Battletoads"for the NES should have been improved upon for the Sega Genesis and it wasn't it's the exact same game with some minor improvements in the audio and maybe graphically(Such as the rope the Battletoads swing on is cut-up for the NES whereas it's whole and complete for the Genesis)but"Nothing Special"Okay baby?I still love you no hard feelings alright?(Smile)

  • I forgot how nice some of the music was

  • OMG i remmeber this in the late 90s when i was like 6 lol!

  • Hardest game ever

  • even though the Genesis's sound has more range, it doesn't give the same satisfying oomph when you big-fist or big-kick something

  • The NES version have better graphics, but the Genesis version have epic unforgetable soundtracks.

  • @GuardiaoCaveira bullshit

  • BEST GAME EVER!

  • I was kind of disaapointed with the Genesis version, i was hoping it would be a totally new and different game but all it is is the NES version with slightly enhanced graphics and music

  • did you use a turbo button?

  • Dude how do you record the Sega game? D: I want to do the same xD

  • @DjMaSTeR059 play the game with an emulator or use a tv capture card with the sega hooked up to it

  • @DjMaSTeR059

Else you can also use a DVD recorder.

  • first stage music KICKS ASS¡

  • SEGA is Harder than NES!

  • ¡Yes!

Better Graphics... and Sound but... Is not the SAME!! Battletoads on NES still Rocks!!

  • q raro se ve diversa ala version q yo jugaba de nes

  • why does the nes version sound better?

  • I loved how alot of sega games were just remakes of original nes games.

  • @nypad5 very few actually

  • Yo quiero el tema antes de seleccionar algo del menu, aunque me dure 10 seg u.u

  • is this on an emulator? =O this is faster than my genesis version

  • This game needs an HD remake on PSN and XBL! I would buy it twice if I could. One to play and the other to stare at dream about how my life would suck so much more than it currently is without said remake. God, what kind of life would that be? And God said, "A bad one my son."

  • someone send this version to the angry video game nerd

  • i love this game )

  • is the genesis version better then the NES version?

  • @ARAGON1009 It is defenitely easier... :P

  • @ARAGON1009 no, the NES version kicks its ass in every department

  • i still got this on my Game Gear

  • That music is SO GENESIS! I have to say that I like the music from the 8-bit NES version better, though...

  • damn with the musac!!!!!

  • The genesis version is too easy compared with the nes one. I finished it without losing continues.

The firs problem on the sega version is the animation, the graphics are improved, but if you look closely every enemy has less animation that the nes one! Second... the physics. In the nes version enemy hits you and you fly in the opposing direcion (as usual), here you fly up (?). the game is a lot slower (even in the ntsc version) .

And the worst of all, the early genesis years music (damn)

  • The NES version is a true classic, so the 'improved graphics' are irrelevant. The Genesis port masturbates to the original. Otherwise, great playthrough.

  • The game is already seemly impossible so there's no need to make it less impossible only saying this cause by reputation this is the hardest game ever created so it would feel pretty damn good to beat it! In all a good game but I prefer the NES version only to accomplish this seemly impossibe game a childhood goal unfulfilled lol

  • it's messed up how they took the opening story out they should have kept that in. Good job on the graphics though it looks better. In my opinion it was the only thing they needed to change they even took out the pause music lol.

  • I'm playing this game now on the sega and Its still hard as hell and it's funny cause the NES version is even harder lol they both have the same stages it's just easier on the sega the sound is off but hey it's a transport from nintendo to sega two different companys 8bit to 16bit different chips different sounds.

  • wtf sonic the hedgehog sound effects

  • The NES version sounds better. The Genesis has the worst sound card in the world.

  • I had this for a while on the NES when I was younger, this is the first time I've seen the Megadrive/Genesis version and I've got to say I'm surprised because there is usually more of a difference between 8-bit and 16-bit versions of the same game. Such a great game though.

  • Kicking cave toucans in the face. Ah, memories.

  • i finally found it this was my first game on that one console i could not remember...

  • @Pro21xx

no they didnt have horrible games, alot of the 3rd party titles/un-licensed sucked ass.

  • @Pro21xx

your right ... who would want to play NES and Sega at this time. its all about Wii, Xbox 306, PS3 and PC games...

Dude NES and Sega were the bomb at its time....

  • Bad news...Battletoads is still with Rare...so it would Microsoft to release a new Battletoad game.

  • WAAAYYY to easy to be Battletoads. They may as well just given you 10 1-Ups if the birds were that easy to spam for them. NES version reigns supreme.

  • 2:00 hmm... nice attempt to make it look 3D-ish :P

  • I have played both versions, and miss the opening sequence from the NES in this Sega one.

  • Wow...

As a longtime NES Battletoads player, this is my first time actually watching a Genesis playthrough. Aside from the sound/music being awful in this version, level 2 just gives away those free 1UPs, doesn't it... They had to be earned with skill in the NES version, you couldn't just endlessly kick the crows into the wall at point blank range, or in the span of a second. You truly had to juggle them. I prefer the challenge of the original.

Anyway, off to watch the next part. =p

  • @Spoofer How much cock do you gargle? How could the sound be worse then NES? What a fag.

  • haha listen 0:50 solo xDD

    ta-ta-da-daaa \ ,, /

    Good times, good times))

  • It does not have the catchy pause song... :(

  • Awful music. The NES version is far better.

  • The sprites are almost identical to the NES version. The NES version has way better msuic!

  • Nostalgie!

  • Great game, great times!

  • ok the graphics is suppose to be better than the nintendo version but the game play is the same. however the music and sound effects for Genesis's battletoad is just so irritating and annoying. Battletoad for NES is way better with superb sound effects

  • The sound is kinda bad in this (I'm guessing) rom. The game actually has better sound than what's in this video.

  • Actually the riding stage in NES version is harder, as the target needs to be perfect, and speed needs ti be right, while in Genesis version it's easier, and I think Genesis version got the extra stage, the Ice one I believe! Also sound and graphics are superior, so Genesis version owns pretty hard!

  • Agree 100%.

The graphics are better in the Genesis version, but the music and sound effects are HORRIBLE. The NES version wins IMO.

  • @moctezuma112 Stupid fag.

  • @dukeljk awww you must be a die hard Genesis Fan. i'm sorry dude. your parents must have spent all their life savings to get you that console. is that all you play still now? you must have a hard time going to a public library, come on youtube and write a pointless comment to me and Spoofer.

  • Maybe that's because the video is NOT in HD

  • the nes version was fucking cruel.....

  • I actually like this version better than the NES version

  • me too I can actually beat this one.

  • The Genesis/Mega Drive has masterpieces, but this game looks like they didn't know how to code for the Genesis Yamaha hardware. Listen to the Music for Mortal Kombat or Sonic.

Tradewinds didn't know how to handle Yamaha chips and it shows.

  • i love the music of the second stage

  • The NES version of this sucked, this had the better music and game play, and obviously graphics.

  • The music in this version is only like a half-notch above the NES in quality, plust it's kind of annoying, as with most Genesis sound (-_- )

  • You are so right, you had a - rating this this comment. But I plussed it for ya, for saying this is 16..same as the SNES. The sound is awful, the snes was awesome for its sound. Even though the version of doom that was released on it looked awful, the sound kicked ass out of all other versions. But back to what you said, I like the NES sound better too/

  • @GaryGarratt The snes did a better choice ... wait some time and remake the game. or something like that. I hate the snes one because the lack of levels (just 6... from almost 15...)

  • @yusukeelric The Genesis didn't have as much memory allocated to the production of sound. It sounds amazing for 1989 but the snes 1ups it in that dept.

  • actually, if the nes version of this game sucked, then why was it the most cherished game on the NES?

The difficulty in this version is actually toned down from its NES counterpart...and I love the NES version despite its atrocious difficulty.

  • Comment removed

  • The graphics are better on the Mega Drive version, but obviously because it's a 16-bit machine.

Though the 8-bit graphics deffinatley have a charm to them.

  • It is true, the Genesis version is better. But you forget one thing epxyon. The Genesis is competing with SNES. SO if this game were on SNES will be better. You just wanted to make NES look bad.

  • I'm not sure If agree with you on that one jczh1094, There were plenty of games that were both on the SNES and Genesis where the Genesis version was better. But its a matter of opinion. Good examples would be; Mortal Kombat, Boogerman, and Aladin just to name a few I prefer on the Genesis. And im not making the NES look bad, I just said the NES version of this game sucked, but thats just my opinion :)

  • Now If you start talking about which games are better in genesis,

you just changed the topic. Now you start to talk Console competition.

Again, this is NES version, OBVIOUSLY inferior than Genesis.

Genesis compete with Super Nintendo not NES. So yeah, Genesis Battletoads kick ass.

NES was a 8 bit system. Genesis has the double. Agree or not , i don't care, i just

wanted to show you what are comparing.

  • Did Sega have a built in sound font? Music sounds exactly like Sonic music...

  • Does this port control exactly like the NES version, a la Mario All-Stars? Or does the gameplay feel different like Mega Man: Wily Wars? The Genesis has so many odd ports. Did anyone know there's a Genesis version of Bible Adventures? :)

  • if you are a true fan of battletoads please sign the petition to make a new BT game, it's the first result on google :)

  • oh dear god i miss this so much

  • i like the nes version much better

  • same here. in the genesis version, they toned the difficulty down...i currently own the nes version and i like it a lot...though i can never get past level 3.

  • this music brings back memories

  • Damn, Stage 2 was TOO repetitive. Nice job tho!
