Knowing and understanding, feeling what you know, is much better than listening to a know it all who usually knows nothing about life, as you say YES ATTENTION SEEKER. Well said!
But your prescription (which so far seems similar for every kind of interpersonal problem in your array,) appears to be designed to stifle knowledgeable people, when in one sense that is exactly the opposite of what should be done. Let's say they're not as knowledgeable as they thought: at least they broke the ice, and their mistakes can be corrected by the more knowledgeable in the gathering.
You know... I like a lot of these videos and feel they are pretty helpful, but I don't like the idea of alienating myself from people just because they have a problem. This method does seem rude, and I don't see how someone wouldn't take that as being hurtful. Is someone being a know-it-all and has even a major problem worth distancing a close friendship?
Know-it-alls -- I prefer to call them arrogant jackasses with easily-bruised egos who need to be put in their place. Those kind of people wear on my nerves.
I don't try to be the center of attention, I'm just well educated. And, I only offer up answers if someone else is giving the wrong ones, and even then, I'm at least polite about it.
"Uh, I think it might be..." Is usually how it starts. Not snobby or anything. It's just that I know a lot of stupid, random trivia.
@XxRavynRampagexX Im the same but i know that some people still get annoyed whenever you say stuff like that, because sometimes it is ok to let it go. if its not that important its ok not to correct people all the time. trust me i know people who are so clueless that i would spend all my time correcting them if i bothered to!
@FMLdoodez Hahaa and then there's people like my brother, who thinks he knows everything about everything until he sounds like a dumb buffoon trying to be smart....lol
You could say that ... but then the 'know-it-all' will say "God what's your problem?..you got a problem..YOU always have to be right.....don't you?.The sooner you realize I am right and more intelligent than everyone else , (you know 90% of society is stupid)....the better off you'll be" My boyfriend ACTUALLY SAID THIS TO ME....I went home and did not call him for a week. What an arrogant freak, no wonder he has ZERO friends!
People who act like a know it all feel like people see them as stupid, so they want to prove themselves. There is also the element of being center of attention too, but not so much. If you brush them off, they will back off but I think it's because they think you're being snobby or disinterested in their ideas. They feel that you're being a social manipulator, to keep control of the coversation to yourself. In the male circles we just say, "Dude, you're being a know it all!"

Know-It-Alls also tend to be Sarcastic too. I can't stand it.
From here on out I am making sure that I avoid Sarcastic people and Know-It-Alls.
