these people steal to feed drug habbits, meth, heroin... they have no conscience but the recycling centers should be shut down when caught buying wire/cable
Does anyone have any consciousness towards property. Its bad enough stealing copper but what happens should they get electrocuted. Not worth the risk!

Why dont recycling companies just ask for proof that you own it, and like a 30 day waiting period because most of them cant wait and the reports would have came in. Somewhere they were even stealing aluminum

First of all that damn black security guard cannot stop anyone from video taping anything. Our first ammendment says that if you want your privacy, do a better job of covering it up. close your window if you don't want video taped cheating. hide your faults if you steal, don't just lay it out there for anyone to see. second of all, America is turning into a lower class. imagine. if all your jobs were going overseas? no work = no money PAL! the most honest man would steal to survive!
Most thieves are not stealing to survive, they are stealing for drugs. I worked in a pawn shop for three years, you wouldn't believe how many strung out lowlifes that frequent pawn shops. We would get the same people coming in that were obvious drug addicts, they would bring in everything they got their hands on, from silver to cd players. We couldn't prove they were stealing the items so we had to assume it was theirs until we found otherwise.
I dont no what sort of street lighting you have in the US but over here in the uk it wouldnt be worth nicking the wire out of a street lights, because normally for a hight pressure sodium light or someting the actual cable in the poles only a bit of 2.5flex at the most

@emforty2 England is the same. One funny story involved "pikeys" who stole a JCB (backhoe) traffic lights and a jackhammer. They would dig up the road and rip out cable. Allegedly they could get up to 1/4 mile at one go. One day they found a nice thick cable and thought they had got lucky. Nope! the cable was oil filled and about 100,000 volts. Two blokes were incinerated on the spot and the explosion made a crater. The other blokes just abandoned everything and left. Gold fever?

yea, the price of copper is crazy. About a year ago in MA, 2 guys tried to steal copper, and got electrocuted by accidentally cutting a live wire. THat guy should have gotten a darwin award

The us uses lower voltage so their wire is heavier, about 5 kilos a meter.

old pennies I believe pre-1982 are mostly copper. New pennies only have like 1% copper since it's so expensive.
