@aliciouspunkprincess Sure, but it depends what you're asking. Time travel? One of the most brilliant movies of this "type", in my opinion, is Mulholland Drive by David Lynch. It's a movie that's as fun to watch as Darko, you're able to form your own interpretation, and has websites devoted to others interpretation. Lynch films (Blue Velvet, Eraserhead, Wild at Heart) all have a very creepy, unsettling Darko-esque quality.
@Defenseman619 Eraserhead is a fucking weird ass movie... I literally felt like I going mad as I was watching it. You can't really compare it to Donnie Darko though as they're two completely different movies. I've never seen Mulholland Drive though, I'll have to check it out... The thing I liked most about Donnie Darko was how it made fun of the stupid politics and corruption that go on in the schooling system. This one kid is singled out, because he could see through the all the BS.
It's interesting how this month this year has the same set up as it did in 1988. 5 Saturdays. 5 Sundays. 5 Mondays. The 31st falls on a monday. Go ahead, look back to October 1988. Same set up.
@TonyMcKayTV I wouldn't say it's underrated, I'd say it's a major cult classic. Underrated implies that the masses skipped over it, whereas when it comes to Donnie Darko, the masses can't handle it. It's not a movie for idiot mainstream moviegoers; it's for people that like seriously original and thought-provoking material.
@Pepitobenito You're right dude! That's exactly it! People didn't get it and therefore didn't like it! It's one of those films that are like no other i ever seen before. Was just so different and i loved it for that!
@TonyMcKayTV Know what? I didn't get it the first time I saw it, but I loved it anyway. It has a special aura. It is one of my favourite movies along Blade Runner and... Groundhog day (no wormhole but a fucked up neverending day)!
@oliverecords Well not everyone! But most audiences out there tend to dislike a movie because they can't grasp the plot at all. I loved it too even though i was like wtf am i watching at first lol. It's a brilliant film!

@aliciouspunkprincess I know of no other films like this but if you like time paradoxes try out a move called Primer.

Sadly, if there were a proper sequel not like S. Darko, it won't be as awesome as the original.

@oliverecords I don't think anybody "got it" the first time. I've seen it about 100 times and I'll pick up bits here and there.
Defenseman619 4 months ago
@Defenseman619 when it was first released, not many got it.. that version is incomplete.. the directors cut is what made more people get it better.
