I liked Uncas. I really feel bad for eric though. Read his bio, kinda sucks. Glad he made a name for himself. As for this deleted scene thing, this is the first I've heard of it but it would have made more sense to leave it than take it out of the movie. Help explain with more depth why Uncas went after and died for her and why Alice jumped.

@Hejssandra Eric Schweig (sp?) has said in an interview there IS a deleted scene between them, though it's not a sex scene, more what he called a puppy love type attraction scene. I've yet to see it posted anywhere. I don't have the DVD; maybe it's there.

Schweig says (Mohican Press) they didn't film the original scripted sex scene, but it was a love scene. It's definately part of the waterfall sequence; doesn't seem to have ever been put back. Often in the 1990's, cut film got pitched and thrown away, unfortunately. Schweig felt the cut scene helped explain their relationship.

the reason why there isnt alot of attention to the uncas and alice "love story" is becuase the girl who plays alice was 17 at the time and eric shcweig was 25 or 24, and the girls mom didnt want any "love scenes" between them.... which sucks alot :( :(

I think when they spent the night in the cave something happened btwn Uncas and Alice and we did not see it on the film . I think they were together that night and Uncas felt Alice was then his woman and lover .
what he did also when he grabbed her when she was making too much noise in the bushes that night at the burial grounds . he put his hand over her mouth I guess he was afraid she would scream cause he grabbed her ..
I wish they would release a version of the movie with all the deleted scenes in it. I love Alice/Uncas, I wish their love had been played up more. They conveyed so much with so little dialogue. That just shows how powerful their story could have been.

I just love how uncas was watching and falling for her from afar and always ready to protect her. I love when she was carried off by nasty mugua how uncas pats his dads shoulder and they both knew what had to be done.
In an interview Eric (Uncas) mentioned he had been dissapointed 1 of the love scenes was removed, he said it had fit into the story well & it was a great scene but the producer said that the spotlight shouldn't be aken off main actors (C&H) when the interviewer mentioned that fans saw him as a main charactor he was suprised & laughed saying he'd no idea people even took notice of his role & he had believed himsel forgotten & was thankful that he had people out there to support him.
Something about tragic love stories, sort of Romeo/Juliet. Most of our lives we never find that true love, the one person that we would hope would make us happy. Only one girl was for me and it didn't work out, why who knows. Kind of tragic in a way, but you gotta walk away. Sorry for waxing poetic on all of this...
@WoundedWolfgirl - Yup! i think theirs wz one of the greatest love stories ever! Not a word spoken between them, yet that unyielding commitment and sacrifice! All credit due to the creators of the movies...they have portrayed this couple with such class....

I actually have the movie on vhs and dvd. I really did not see a huge difference between them. I remember the first time i saw the movie at the end where cora stands in front of hawkeye they spoke with each other. however when i got the vhs it was not part of the ending.
They should have focused on both love stories. They should release the original movie with all the scenes they filmed includeing the scene with alice and uncas at the waterfall that ended up on the cutting room floor.
Yea, the script has Alice kissing Uncas in the cave/waterfall scene. They could have made it very beautiful as their first kiss, discovering their love for each other. That would have removed any doubt as to why he goes to save her by himself and why she jumps after him...
@nyricanpride I think that the fact that alice and uncus love blossomed behind the scenes makes it special and more heartbreaking. Anyways, enough is showed in that last look they share before uncas dies.
