To the best of my knowledge, they were not only the only Filipino-American rock n' roll group during the late '50's/early 1960's to chart in the US, but also the only Asian American rock n' roll act to chart here in the US.
What a riot! I had to watch a second time and I'm sure that's Jack Soo (From the Television show "Barney Miller") introducing the Rocky Fellers in the beginning of this video
Thanks, Marshaird, for putting this up; GREAT CLIP!!! "Killer Joe" was popular just around the time I started listening to the local Southern California top 40 stations ('63) but I don't recall hearing it then. I think I have actually become familiar with the Rocky Fellers from listening to the Little Steven Underground garage radio program, he seems to work KJ into his playlist every couple of months. Thanks again, this is very cool.
At 3:17, in the original network broadcast, Jack said, "Well, good night, folks- and I'll be seeing you next week, for Jell-O" [General Foods and State Farm Insurance were Benny's alternate sponsors at the time].
Okay, so we have American Jack Soo dressed up like a Japanese, introducing Pinoy dressed up like Americans, and Jack Benny dressed up like the Pinoy . . .LOVE IT!
wonder where this was filmed w all the japanese in the audience?
