I wish I could say I've seen them live, but on the dvd, Chris uses a capo on the first fret for a lot of the songs on "Empires" so I'm sure it goes the same for this. Beav probably drops the top string for the deeper tone. So hats off to you for doing it without a capo. I'm sure it's much harder that way.

yeah, its the only way i could figure it out. i think on the recording the whole guitar is 1/2 step down...but i play it just drop d

beave/double recording is a drop d. for the e flat, he just plays it an octave higher on the a string. chris uses the same guitar through the whole set, and he never re-tuned when i saw it live - so i assume beaver did.

if you want to give the e flat a heaver sound, without re-tuning (my guitars have floyds, so nuts to re-tuning for one song) just fret the b-flat on the e string.

i'm still putting the ending together, but it's not exactly where i want it yet.
